  • Esophagitis (Esophagus Inflammation) | Causes, Risk Factors, Signs and Symptoms, Diagnosis, Treatment
Esophagitis is a condition involving inflammation of the esophagus. There are several types of esophagitis, including erosive esophagitis, infective esophagitis, radiation esophagitis, pill-induced esophagitis, and eosinophilic esophagitis, each having different causes and risk factors. In this lesson, we discuss the pathogenesis of each type of esophagitis, including signs and symptoms, how they are diagnosed and how they are treated.

Thanks for this video. I've had on/off esophagitis for at least 18 years. I finally had an endoscopy done 2 years ago and was diagnosed with mild chronic esophagitis suggestive of reflux esophagitis and put on 40 mg of omeprazole daily for 8 weeks. I now just take 20 mg daily. I had some lower GI issues, most likely a GI bug about 3 weeks ago that has been slow to go away, and for about 10 days I've had a flare up of esophagitis symptoms that have been bad- pain in chest, hoarse voice, feels like food is stuck in my chest/throat, belching, bloating, and what feels like gas pains in my back. I worry about esophageal cancer and just hope that's not what's going on. Of course, my anxiety over this is probably making my symptoms worse, and I can't get in to see a GI doc for a month, ugh.

This is excellent advice and the presentation is superb. Folks change your lifestyle, diet, and the company you keep. Walking, jogging, or running is pivotal. In this presentation is vital information for us to sustain survival. I had spine surgery and picked up weight, then coronavirus hit. I’m definitely aware of what is going on. I’ve been in the house since January 30th 2021. I have not been going to a gym because I was trying to avoid Covid. We’re damn if we do, and damn if we don’t. Win some, to win some, to lose some. Don’t become lost with this situation, make the necessary adjustments in your diet, and start exercising. Cut out spicy foods, chocolate, sodas, and coffee immediately. Hard to swallow foods need to go bye bye…🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 don’t suffer, or torture yourself. See a doctor immediately.

It never completely went away, but from the time of my diagnosis until probably last year, so about 18 years later, it only happened on rare occasions where I swallowed a pill without enough water or I ate something dry like bread, chicken, or steak without enough water. It would flare up then and hurt like hell but that was maybe 1 time per year. Recently though, I got Covid, and it came back with a vengeance. I couldn't get it to stop spasming and I was in so much pain for a week. I couldn't eat or drink anything. With some meds, rest, and patience, it eventually went away. That was last month. I'm having to change my diet and take proton pump inhibitors in order to prevent it from flaring up again. I'm sorry if you have to deal with this crap too. It's truly the worst.
Btw, mine is eosinophilic esophagitis. Because it's EoE, it's basically an allergic reaction. The steroid inhaler helped get rid of some of the white blood cell buildup in my throat. If yours is EoE, I definitely recommend giving it a try.

I held my breath for 1minute 45seconds. Next day i wake up with pain, in chest, esophagus, neck/underjaw.
(i also am now taking 4 pills, 2x a day, from Relief Factor)
I must have burst or strained it with air pressure. Chest pain gone mostly now. Still some.. Mostly under jaw, sides of neck.
Figure ill be ok in a week?
    it DOESNT hurt to swallow...
    HELP!

HOW DO YOU HEAL THIS CRAP

    • @strwbrrycrush
      @strwbrrycrush Před 2 lety +1

Esophagitis takes months to heal unfortunately.
Eat an Esophageal Diet and/or GERD Diet. Meaning no acidic food[garlic/onion/citrus fruit/coffee/vinegar/fruit juice], no spicy food, no dry abrasive foods[crackers/chips/nuts], no high fat foods[cheese/fried food/whole milk/butter]. Soft foods only[mashed potatoes, pudding, cottage cheese, soups, purees, yogurt, cream of wheat, bananas].
Eat slowly. Chew your food well. More saliva helps your stomach digest food easier.Take at least 30min. to consume a meal.
Stop eating 3 hours before bedtime. A fuller belly can cause contents to wash up during sleep.
Drink lots of water. You don't want a dry esophagus and the mucus needs more water!
Get enough sleep! Cells regenerate, resting is healing!
Try not talking for as much as possible for a few weeks and never raise your voice.
      Try liquid antacids/H2-Blockers/PPIs.
Even if your BMI is normal, if you have enough visceral belly fat that your belly protrudes, lose weight. Acid can wash up from the pressure of the fat.
Sleep on your left side or at an incline. The shape of your stomach makes it so acid has a harder time coming up on your left side.
Eat multiple small meals instead of 3 regular sized ones.
Sit up straight, avoid bending. Never eat lying down.
Try Licorice tea, Slippery Elm, & Marshmallow Root. Slippery Elm when mixed in water forms a mucus-y texture which coats and protects the esophagus from further irritation.
      Regularly consume probiotics.
      NO CARBONATED DRINKS.
      NO CAFFEINE.
If pain doesn't get better, seek a GI for more testing.

Acid reflux is caused by too little acid so the last thing you want are those pumps or anti acids killing what good guys you do have left. Have to build you immune system with lifestyle changes and also make your stomach more acid. A lot of times this is cause by nutritional dufficiencies so take all 90 ESSENTIAL nutrient supplements

Just assuming it’s from to much is bad medicine practice. Especially giving medicine without knowing . Typical main stream medicine.
