My friend just had her teeth cleaned at Dental Express for 190 pesos; about $11.50 USD. A couple years back I had two root canals, two crowns and a cleaning for just under $1000.00. My in the US was $7000. I enjoy your Ajijic drive-arounds J.C.
Thanks for sharing that info. :)
I absolutely love that birds song. ❤ You don't need to apologize for anything. It's a crying shame people are so sensitive these days.
Love the birds. I get a chipmunk chirping for 20 minutes. No love here.
I spilled the time with chipmunks in the Black Hills of South Dakota. They have a very sharp chirp.
Incredible cost savings for medical in Mexico. Recently, I had some stem cell procedures done at Dream Body Clinic in Puerto Vallarta and everything was 100% painless. The price was one fourth to one fifth the cost in the US.
The place was absolutely spotless.
I lived the sounds of nature, the birds all of it. 😂
Me too!
My estimate for dental work was $25,000 in Florida. I had it done at Dental Express for just over $3000!!!! It was so wonderful I decided to move here! Thanks for everything!!!!
Thanks for sharing that, Debbie! What should we do with the $22,000 you have left over? :)
That's a huge difference.
What a deal to have your dental work over there , I've heard stories about being more reasonable but I wasn't really sure about it,but you really confirmed it , you see you bring the truth in your stories you say it like it is , wether is good or bad and you are always very honest about it, that's one of the many reasons I love your stories , your are our one to get the story out there for us to see and hear , once again you are the best to bring us to see how it really is to live in Ajijic. God bless you and your lovely wife, until we see the next story , can't wait to see it .
Thanks for the kind words. Have a wonderful week. :)
Be very careful with dental work in Mexico. I saw a female d.d.s. and she was very good. I needed a root canal and she suggested another female oral surgeon. During the root canal she drilled into the implant next to it. Never told me and filled with the filling material. When I asked the other d.d.s., "I don't know was the reply." May I ask the name of the d.d.s. you used? 🤔🫢💸
Be very careful of dental work anywhere!
That bird definitely had something to say! We are pretty much done with baby bird season here in Florida. Crazy mama mockingbirds singing in the middle of the night. Love it ❤
I actually know what they say. “”I'm here. I'm here.I'm here””. “”I speak, therefore I exist””
Yep! 😂
Lucky you! I just paid for cleaning and x-ray $169.--. According to the dentist there is a little cavity
under a crown. What I would probably need is a new crown, root canal and a little buildup of the
gum. (I'm 82). And according to him, it's not 100% guarantee after that and would be $3,000.--,
mind you this dentist is very reasonable. So he suggested an implant or a 1 tooth bridge - if the
tooth starts bothering me. The implant, which would be my preference, is also around $3,000.--.
He was nice enough to tell me it may never bother me, but if, then go ahead with the implant.
So, my price would be about double of yours, which is actually not that bad. Oh yes, I'm in the Southern
US, which makes prices more reasonable than the Northern US, or East and West Coast. Love your
informative (as far as prices) videos, but your drive around videos are just as good, when you go
to different places in Ajijic. Interesting what you pay on taxes and utilities, which is way lower than what
we pay. Say hello to Ms Lynn.
Thanks for sharing that. It sounds like you have a reasonable dentist, but being the skeptic that I am my question would be….. do you really have a cavity under that crown?
I LOVE the Bird!
The sounds of wind, waves, and birds. So much better than traffic, sirens, and large crowds. :)
Oh my goodness what a savings to have dental work done in Mexico!
Older houses always have something to repair.
Not just older houses. Cars. Gardens. Me.
Jerry, I loved your video this week because of 2 things. 1, because we enjoy visiting Ajijic and I understand the quality of medical/dental care in Mexico. 2, because my wife needed an tooth implant and was quoted $6,000 in Seattle. You know, all the same stuff you went through. So, silly me, I suggested we visit Ajijic last year, spend 6 months, get her implant done, and pay for our entire vacation with the cost savings over what she was quoted here. We have friends who live in So. Cal. and AZ that always go to MX to get their dental work done and rave about the quality of the work and the cost savings.
You and I have both been married to the same wives for over 50 years. We share 2 things in common and we both understand that "Cocaine, boats, and divorce are nature's way of telling you that you have too much money." 🤑☹
Apparently, since Cocaine, boats and divorce are not part of my life ….. I don’t have too much money. I suspected that was the case. :)
Looks like they charge for the work and not to get rich. Dentistry work in USA is very expensive e,
When I first came to Mexico, and had some dental work done I noticed that my Mexican dentist drove Volkswagen. My USA dentist had a new Mercedes every year.
I love your videos and every single time I watch them , it want to just pack up and go already. We finally made it Merida and we loved it. were 80 % done either what we need to do here in NJ/NY. I’ll definitely visit Ajijic. The information you provide is beyond helpful I’ll definitely owe you guys a nice steak dinner at the very least… and a green mug!! 😉 thank you!
Glad to be of value to your adventure. :)
Wow
One of us was a dental assistant for many years, this was very interesting. Insurance has driven the cost way up here in the states, that and just plain greed. There are still shoddy dentists everywhere but they don't last long with the insurance companies. Love seeing the drain setup, makes perfect sense. Also loved the brick tool story. 😁😁😎😎👍👍
One of us??? Curious turn of a phrase. How many of you are there? Which one was the dental assistant? What did the rest of you do? Thanks for engaging my curiosity!
Haha! There are two of us and the other one spent the last 25 working years as a 911 operator in a big city. We are both retired now and life is good.
Hi Jerry, I enjoyed this video and sound of bird chirping. My dentist quotes $4600 for one implant, so your work was considerably cheaper. Hope you are happy w your new tooth!
I'm happy. Thanks!
Like it
I'm a Canadian living in Huatulco, Oaxaca, Mexico. Cost of dental work here seems to average about forty percent of what the same proceedures would cost in Canada.
Thanks for sharing that. :)
Thanks for your information!
My pleasure!
Fascinating! My hubby needs an implant.
Mine is chewing fine.
amigo Jerry saludos de san jose california gracias por todos los videos por que soy de jalisco
Saludos amigo! :)
Love all the details in the vid. Thanks for IDing the birds.❤
like birds singing
Me too. :)
I love the bird. Wish I had one.
They don't have an emoji for that. (Sorry, I could resist that opening)
Great video amigo👍👍👍👍👍 I paid $4,500 for an implant about 8 years ago here in southern California..
Yep.
Dental Express is the best.
Thanks Jerry, that was just what I needed to hear.. I have a tooth to do. I will be curious what my portion of the fee will be here in Canada. haha.
Let me know.
Bravo, I'm in Mexico City now heading to your area will play bridge and explore your part of the country for a while.
Enjoy your travels!
Keep up the informative videos. Love them!
Keep up the nice comments. Love them! :)
How do dental costs in Chapla area compare to lesser expat areas? Just wondering if great can be greater. Take care. Yes, love the drive around videos.
Of course, costs depend upon the dentist and the location. I have not been to a dentist in Chapala, so I can't answer your question. I have Mexican friends who tell me that dental costs in Guadalajara are much less than here on the north shore of Lake Chapala.
Jerry, it's nice to know you're king of the house and have five thrones upon which to rest your laurels.
I do enjoy your videos and take pleasure in the sarcasm, wit and humor you share.
Other things of note was today's thumbnail photo. Fossa-vs-dental photo. Priceless. Cheers, Mate.
Glad you noticed the juxtaposition of thumbnail photos. :)
@JCTravelStories Indeed I did. Cheers, Mate.
Is that some new form of x-ray that doesn't require a lead vest for protection from the radiation?
I'm not an x-Ray expert, but I don't remember getting the lead blanket for a dental X-ray ever even in the USA. They did give me the blanket for the 360 x-ray last year.
I paid 2000 for my tooth implant in 2020 here in Idaho.
the rinse they gave me made my gum so so swollen that it looked like something black was attached to my jaw and it stained my teeth, they got really really yellow, I quit using it, and it got less swollen a week later.
I kept drinking aloe vera juice for the inflamation.
mine turned out very good, I never had or have any problems with it, I only had to wait a month to get the implant, I drink vitamins, so the bone healed pretty fast.
I was told to drink aloe vera juice for shingles. It helped.
I had some implants done in tijuana.. same pricing.. estimate in the California. 40 to 60k.. I spent 13k give or take in tijuana and got some of it refunded from dental insurance.
Good plan. …. Except the returning to CA part. :)
Hi Jerry. Thanks for the video. I went to dental express in Ajijic a couple of years ago. I did not have a positive experience there.
Sorry to hear that. I and many I know personally have gone there for years with good results. It’s not a perfect world. I hope you find a dentist that serves you well, Susan.
Curious--was this ceramic versus metallic? Removing all the metal from my mouth by a holistic/biologic dentist here in Iowa ran me a bit over $24,000. Two root canals removed, four metal crowns, one filling, and an abscessed tooth. Four were implants. And, I love the bird songs!
That's a lot of money. Hope it serves you well. I love the birds, too. :)
It cost me 6000 for one tooth implant... 3000 me, 3000 insurance. It took a year.
Actually you paid about $15 USD for the implant. The rest was labor.
🙏🙏🙏
I think those are prayers. Thanks! :)
Holy crap! My one tooth will total $7,000! My dentist did the same scan, I didn't have the nerve to look at the price.
A round trip plane ticket to Guadalajara from most of the USA is around $500. Food for thought if you need another one.
Im doing implant now. Delaware.
Pull tooth $60 out of pocket think $180 fee.
Implant
$2700 but insurance discount $1800. OUt pocket $900
Still have to pay for crown.
My implant rejected so i had to try again. It sucks.
How much is the yearly premium for your dental insurance?
Jerry the bird is wonderful! What bird is it?
Kiskadee and boat tailed grackle
🙂👍⚘️⚘️⚘️
I paid 2000 dollars for a crown 😂
I bought a new Corvair for $2400. (1964)
I need dental work done..
I'm such a coward about it. 😭
I used to be also because the dentist I grew up with was a big scary man who had retired from being an army dentist. I always had the impression that he thought that 12-year-old kids should man up like soldiers. Modern painless dentistry has made me much more calm about it.
@@JCTravelStories
I wish I could get past my fear!
🙂👍⚘️
The only thing to fear is fear itself.
@@JCTravelStoriesexactly 💯
I’d like to know what kind of bird it is so I can lookup how it looks.
Look up Kiskadee and boat tailed grackle.
@@JCTravelStories thank you. I love the sound of the birds singing in the background. Hello to Lynn.
I'll pass! I just have them pulled! I'm 68 and can eat soft foods!!
Of course, that's a choice. I'm happy to live in a time when there are other options. PS: I can eat soft food, too.
Hey Jerry, do you know of any families with you get children who live in Ajijic?
I assume you mean immigrants or expats and not Mexicans. Yes, there are some. I don't currently know any personally. Used to, but they grew up and went to college.
@@JCTravelStories yeah, I meant expats. The families you did know, did they enjoy their stay there?
I believe they did. And their kids grew up to be interesting adults.
My dear friend, I've noticed you are very sad for losing your green coffee mug. And I happen to have two of them, brand new. I'd like to send them as a gift to you, but I don't know where to send them to. If you'd like to provide an address where to send them, I'll be more than happy to do so. I'm going to use the picture of the two mugs as my profile picture. Look at them if you like them. Let me know.
Very generous and thoughtful! I am a bit sad. We are creatures of habit. Please send me an email. jc.travel.stories@gmail.com
Well let's takecthe little car! Lord, u have half a dozen things with wheels!

I can't do fental with lafffing gas cas I would pass out and my jaw wobbles so a rubbery biter /holder has to be used. I had a crumbled back one removed and it still hasn,t healed. 2 wk.s. I made 3 attempts. Once I was late. 70.mi.trip. brakesscrapping, had to stop. Other two.-here in the backwoods!- They try to tell me a 'plan' has to be instituted at like a million bucks. Made me so mad.
Do a vid on Medicare suppliments lying ads on CZcams. ! Man, that bugs me.bThey read: " 'The state ' ! is giving these allowances to anyone . Last day to get in on this deal" showing pictures of disgusting huge steaks and such.
HoW do they get that by the insurance comish?! Advantage plans are so confusing , deceptive and shady and numerous. Worse than fed. taxes. Soon they will be required.
😮😮😮😮 don't apologize because we are here for the beautiful birds sound not you lol just kidding my friend I just love the bird sounds
I love the birds also, except for that #@$&4#$ morning dove at 5 am.
@JCTravelStories hahahahaha I hear you,
let her know dove hunting season is coming lol
