Here are the Review Notes:
Pros:
- Ready To Fly (RTF) out of the box with everything you need.
- 2S Power on a compact trainer plane for more fun after you learn to fly.
- 4 channels to properly learn the fundamentals.
- Stability and dynamic flight modes
- The box can be used as a carry case for protection over time.
- Large and cool landing gear for a variety of terrain.
- So far, this appears to be on par with or better than the Hobbyzone Sport Cub S2 and is comparable quality to the excellent EDF Jet value, Arrows Viper.
Cons:
- The servos do not appear to be super smooth and precise, but they still look good for this application.
This is how Hobbyzone describes this new RC Trainer Plane:
"Modern beginner pilots are often faced with a daunting task: learning to fly in a limited space without an instructor. For those pilots, Arrows RC has the answer! Introducing the Arrows RC 620mm Pioneer- a micro bush-plane with BIG performance!
As a proper "all-rounder", the Pioneer has a classic high-winged tail-dragger design- allowing for predictable handling characteristics. The pre-installed ESC and flight control system eliminates the need for complicated wiring harnesses and setup.
Switch between stabilized and optimized gyro flight modes and the Pioneer will suit pilots of any skill level. Oversized wheels and robust EPP foam construction allow for rough-field operations- just plug in the battery, let the gyro calibrate and fly!
With all the exciting aircraft Arrows RC is releasing, there's no better way to start than the Arrows RC 620mm Pioneer!
Features
Oversized power system: 1608-3000kv brushless motor with 7.4V 350mAh 20C battery. Handleswind much better than one cell planes.
Integrated receiver and flight controller with stabilized and optimized flight modes
Robust landing gear with balloon tires for rough field operations
Programmed from the factory, no setup required
Ready to fly package includes everything you need to start flying
Robust EPP foam construction
High-lift STOL airframe design"

You reviewed the best RC planes of all!!!
Thank you my friend 👊🏻⚡️👊🏻
I hope so. Just purchased on of these for my 9 year old Grandson. Please could you tell me, if on this model, and on first start up, should the switch on the radio be set on stabilisation mode or expert mode? Many thanks
Arrows are seriously smashing it out of the park. While I don't have any of their planes, the quality seems second to none. I've been especially impressed with the Marlin. What a gorgeous plane.
I like the solid white, blank canvas Marlin. 👍👍
They really are doing great work! 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Very well done as always GB! Great content, narration and video! Looks like a cool little plane and RTF is sweet! Look forward to the flights! Thumbs up! Cheers GB!
Thank you very much Fred! I appreciate you my friend 👊🏻💥👊🏻
a nice looking ready to go plane. Like to see you get it in the air...
Thanks JCB! I am really pumped to get some nice weather for a maiden. I have big plans for this plane 👊🏻😎👊🏻
Great review. Thanks for the unboxing
Thank you! 👊🏻💥👊🏻
GB another great review. This Old Man has 10 UMX and Park Flyers in my large fleet. Any time I go to the club the UMX Timber is always with me. Adding the Pioneer to my want list. Always love your videos. ✈️😎💝
Thank you John! I always love your comments on my videos 👊🏻😎👊🏻
It is amazing how the beginner experience has changed in recent years.
It really is Mike! I remember not that long ago (2011), I was getting humbled trying to keep a balance between keeping my Hobbyzone Champ in the air and having it fly away 🤣👊🏻🤣
Another good review buddy! Another cool bird from Arrows too!
Thanks Shadow! 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Not a bad looking plane 😎🇺🇸
Thank you Jackson! It is pretty fun too 😎
good starter plane sir...thanks for the fun
Thanks Ricky! 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Nice little pocket rocket GB 👍🏻
Thank you Dad’s! 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Arrows made a Dart!! :)
AirHammer out!!
Hahaha A dart? 👊🏻🤣👊🏻
@@GBLynden mini arrow
Nice work 👊🏻
GB! Great review!! I missed whether you said brushed or brushless. I'd assume brushless. And it has a stabilizer, to boot. Cool!!!
What a great addition to Arrows lineup.
Can't wait for the flight review.
The motor is brushless and I cannot wait to fly it myself 👊🏻😎👊🏻
Bro what a cool plane man!👍⚡👊
Just wait until you see the flight video 👊🏻💥👊🏻
@@GBLynden oh yeah I can't wait to see it so excited!!
i thought a little overpriced but just flown mine amazing had about 6 flights zero crashes amazing little plane wish it had an on off switch on the plane
Given all if the price increases of other products in the hobby, this one is pretty solid. The switch in the upper-right corner turns off the stabilization .
I meant on off so I don't have to disconnect the battery after each session
@@clivestephenson2631 An On/Off switch can be convenient, but, unless it is a good quality one - ie expensive ;-) - I generally find that they introduce more problems than they are worth. I've lost count of the number of Tx On/Off switches on cheap (and not so cheap) Quads etc that we've had to replace with sturdier Auto toggle switches. :-)
Arrows do make good planes for the bucks
That they do! I have a couple more I need to review after I get well too 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Nice review thanks , one downside I find is that it is overpriced for what it is..
Thanks! I thought about that myself and see it being $10 more than the Hobbyzone Sport Cub S2 RTF Trainer. For me, it is worth $10 more for 2S power with the more common red JST connector. My only question is the range of the radios, which I plan to test when the weather clears up around here as I have that other plane in the box as a RTF, too.
could you test the range? can an fpv aio be connected?
Hi there! I am not sure what the range of the stock radio is as I have made it a point to not out fly the radio. If FPV is a desire and you are a beginner, I would recommend the Prodigy to learn on: bit.ly/3CYTe7n Once you get your flying skills down, you can swap out the receiver that connects with the stock receiver for something with more range. To answer your question about an fpv aio setup, you can mount that and a 1S pack on it and fly around just fine. I have done that with my other small planes like the UMX Turbo Timber and the UMX J3 Cub with no issues at all. I hope that helps and let me know if you have more questions I can help answer Waleed!
GB great video, I have a question. I have the sport cub 1s battery. I fly in a small park thus I need a UMX plane. The cub is good but it does not fly well on windy conditions. I have a DX6e that I bought used. I am between getting this plane or the turbo timber, what would you recommend? This one seems more durable than the timber. I am also tired of changing the brush motor for the cub every 1.5 month.
Great question! This has more speed and it more fun than the Cub. I don’t think you can fly it with anything but the stock radio. It is very durably built and is a loop machine. Check out my maiden flight video with it if you haven’t yet 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Between the turbo timber Umx and this one what would you pick?
If I was a beginner, this one all day. The UMX Turbo Timber is an awesome plane, but the flaps/elevator take time and experience to get mixed in right. This one is great because the battery fits in a little slot and there is no guessing on battery placement/center of gravity. Let me know if you have any other questions my friend!
Thanks a lot for your input GB! I will follow your advise !
You are welcome and if you are so inclined, click on my plane links before you make purchases. It helps support my time helping folks like you make the best choices possible for you in with amazing hobby 😎
Do you recommend buying another spare prop for this plane? Or can it withstand crashes well and wont snap?
Great question! Props are designed to break in crashes to reduce damage to the rest of the plane, so yes. I would also recommend any beginner seriously consider the Arrows Prodigy as well since the prop is behind the nose makes prop damage less likely. Just click the link in the pinned comment or in the video description to find this and the RTF version of the Prodigy 👊🏻💥👊🏻
@@GBLynden there seems to be no more propellers in stock. And does this website deliver to scotland (UK)? And finally how does this pioneer compare with the umx turbo timber? Which would you say is better? Thanks for the reply.
They are two totally different planes for two totally different platforms. If you are a beginner, the pioneer is a no brainer. The flaps are a complication that will trip up most beginners. As far as shipping overseas, I assume they might. I would load your cart and see if the shipping location trips you up.
Can tell me what are pries and kones
I believe I added them to the description, but ai highly recommend you watch the maiden flight review to learn the most 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Hey hope you don’t mind one other question. Did your battery take forever to charge? Mine is on the charger for the past five hours and the light is still red. I assume red light stays on during charge and goes off when charged?
I honestly did not use that charger as I use my Hobby Grade charger for all of my batteries. Where do you live?
@@GBLynden I live in Melbourne Florida
Gotcha! I was hoping you were local so I could see you a good hobby grade charger for cheap.
Would anyone know what protocol the radio uses? Would like to use my radiomaster but can't find the protocol used
Great question! I have my live show tonight, so let me see if I can get an answer between now and then on that front 👊🏻💥👊🏻
@@GBLynden cheers, I've checked most info at fccid but nothing. Btw the handset ar06 looks like another ar06 they have but with reverse switches and such, can feel the holes under the sticker at the front.
@@GBLynden sorted it.
FrSky D D8.
SA switch for vector in 3 positions, middle position off. Think rudder had to be reversed.
I took apart the handset to see what circuits were used and it was cc2500, pretty common but atleast it limited the amount of protocols I had to use,
and ofcourse some info on FCCID.
I'm yet to test this but looks to be working so far.
Using a Radiomaster tx16s with newest firmware for the internal module.
@@ThatSwedishGuy Many thanks for that information! 👍👍
Do we get you right that the TX16S gives you 3 modes on this? Or only on the Vector unit as programmed for others like the Bigfoot? Also what are the actual dimensions of the wheels, battery and battery bay? Lastly what make is the Motor used on this? It looks a bit like a SunnySky.
We'll keep an eye on this to see if it might be the upgrade from the Volantex V761-4 Sport Cub that the XK A160 certainly wasn't!
@@theoztreecrasher2647 yes 3 modes. The wheels are 50mm I diameter and battery compartment 20x50mm approximately.
I don't know what sort motor it is, I had to replace one as I nose dived pretty bad :) and it messes up the motor. Bought an original replacement (maybe you can find a picture of it online)
RTF? Radio batteries?
Yes sir! It comes with one battery and extras are readily available. I bought a second one and get about 20 minutes of stick time with just two packs. I do periodically land and check the voltage of the packs though 👊🏻💥👊🏻
Sorry, I just reread this post and realized you were asked about the transmitter batteries, not the flight packs. They take common AA or AAA in lots of 4. If I had the radio handy, I would tell you which one. I hope that helps.
Every model I am seeing of this is only 3 channel. Anyone find a 4 channel version?
Greg, this is a 4 channel plane 😎
620mm plane RTF kind small and cost way too much on the website also on amazon too i thought 800mm
plane any plane RTF will be good but noo trash
Compared to everything else going up a lot lately, it is now positioned as a good value. Have you flown one?
