I purchased this model in the spring of last year and have been happily flying it ever since. Last month I was flying it and during a scuffle between some dogs I lost orientation and never did find it. I went home and immediately ordered another one because I am so impressed with how well this model performs. I could easily take off and land on a concrete pad the size of a volleyball court and have been able to take off and land from the grass at my local Middle School. I have been able to fly for up to 22 minutes on the stock battery pack by just cruising around. I really recommend that you take off and land in beginner mode but the plane handles equally well in the dynamic mode and it does all the aerobatics that my thumbs can handle. I highly recommend this bird as it has great flight characteristics and long flight times on the stock battery. This has been the only playing that I have liked well enough to replace in all the years that I have been in the hobby. That is the best recommendation that I could give.

      Hi Jon!
What an awesome Plane this is ;--)
I will be posting additional review videos of this Plane as I just can't recommend a Plane after a single flight session but I very much like what I see with this Plane.
Plenty of Power and very efficient, as you stated, for a great amount of flight time.
Sorry to hear you lost your first one, but like you, I'd probably replace this one if something happened to it.

I have the Arrows Bigfoot & love it, so grabbed a Pioneer to fly at smaller local parks. So far have had only 2 flight sessions & both times have suffered from the same issue - plane flys nicely for afew moments, then feels like I've lost control & goes into a spiral till it hits the ground. I'm assuming it's a range issue, yet to do a range test or try rebinding but obviously something isn't right. When brand new out of the box first time powering it up it beeped etc. & only the throttle worked. I unplugged the battery & replugged & this time it did it's routine & everything worked. Seems to do this all the time currently, have to plug it in a 2nd time before you get operation of the rudder/ailerons. On it's last crash landing a wheel popped off & the 2-part rim fell out & I lost the little plug that holds the wheel on. Really need to glue the rim halves together. Annoying part to loose as not a easy fix.

Yes, it sounds like a bad component somewhere.
I didn't have any of those problems with mine, when it was stock, and I've had many flights on it.
I don't remember ever having a stall like that.
I would think if it was losing contact the fail-safe would kick in.
Does it center all the control surfaces and shut down the motor when testing fail-safe?
Perhaps a servo locking up on it or a bad gyro.
I would definitely sent it back for a replacement.

@@GroundControlRC The umx warbird world is plagued by the absence of competition. The few brands producing or distributing some are of about equal tech level, prices, and quality.
I think urban populations concerned with lack of space and regulations would make of the small rc nice looking and performing aicraft like this one a good market.
A bush plane is cool, no doubt about it. But flashy warbirds might be more appealing to the potential customers. Some people love light aviation civil aircrafts. Everybody loves a Spitfire/Mustang/Corsair. Arrows, if you read this... Read it again. And again. 😉

Awesome series again, this one, thanks! Now I've got a silly question if you don't mind. I'm about to order this Pioneer's board and TX for cheap to put it into one of my A160s (yes I really love this old nemesis), along with two 1.9g servos for elev.+rud. Pretty sure the integrated ESC can handle the A160 motor. Now the question is: do you think I can plug the two aileron servos (Y-lead) into the Pioneer board? Since the Pioneer's equipped with a single aileron servo, I'm wondering if that might damage the board.

    • @GroundControlRC
      @GroundControlRC  Před 2 lety +2

      Thank you much!
I'm not sure, although, they fitted this board with a single servo for the ailerons, it seems to me that (2) single servos would have to perform much less work than a single servo.
That's exactly what I'm going to do with mine to get a better roll rate.

Well, I flew the Mini Mustang in 20mph wind so I think the Pioneer could handle a bit more than that.
It also has a stabilization mode to counter wind effect so I think it would be a bit easier to handle in that much wind.
