    How different my life could have been trying this method out. I always suffered from a sore arm and always just worked through it. I was taught ice it 20 mins on 20 mins off for an hour. Then use a heat pad an hour before your next workout. I eventually stopped doing all that nonsense cause it made no difference in my sore arm. I actually felt better not doing anything other than rest.

      Same here. In high school I never iced my arm after a game, never saw the point as my arm was never sore. Had a game where I threw over 100 pitches and felt fine afterwards, but my coach insisted that I ice my arm. Had a game the next day of the tournament and couldn’t throw the ball at all in warm ups, my arm was just absolutely dead. My coach never insisted that I ice after that

    @jackpeters2884 Před rokem +10

    It's also important to recognize the difference between muscle soreness from high exertion and from potential injury. Repetitive highly dynamic motions, like those found in pitching or tennis, can cause serious strain on your body due to the forces involved. It's important to know when soreness means you need to step it up and when it means to take a step back.

    Has a combat vet 11b. I agree 50/50. You are comparing short term remedy compared to long term result. After a hard work out. You'll use heat or ice. But continue the work out. But in the end building the strength, and muscle use over time will help more

    @Katsos44 Před rokem +2

    As great of a method for sore arm this might be, that means you should be throwing 200 game speed hard pitches very routinely, which unfortunately is a great way to injure yourself before your starts and come in not as fresh because we can’t adapt to that level of work on tendons, ideally you’d throw 80-85 pitches game speed and then work carefully before hand so you feel prepared for a great challenge like running 3.5 miles at a fast pace everyday before then being asked to run 5 miles at a fast pace, not easy but certainly easier than trying to kill yourself running 10

  • @westongrant1702
    @westongrant1702 Před 5 měsíci

    You’re right, except for the fact that in the running analogy the soreness comes from lactic acid buildup in the muscles. This is sometimes true of soreness from pitching, but it can also be stress on the various tendons, ligaments, and joints involved in pitching, and if that’s the case, it will only be made worse by training more

    @cheddarcollector9271 Před rokem

    It’s a good point and I can’t speak to baseball specifically, but if you’re like a high school athlete you gotta know the difference between soreness and pain. You can probly train through some pain, but doesn’t mean you should. Just don’t look at this and decide to be a hero in practice and then end up needing some expensive treatment

    • @CollegeRecruitsNW
      @CollegeRecruitsNW Před rokem

      I agree with knowing the difference between soreness and pain. Soreness is the build up of lactic acid, it's stiffness which is best dealt with easy use of the affected muscles. Pain is typically related to injury, never try to play through an injury, you'll cause further damage.

    I don't understand this concept. Running is a cardiovascular exercise and you can improve your cardio output with sustained training over a period of time due to muscle growth and cardiovascular endurance. That is not the same when it comes to ligaments, tendons, joints, etc. because while yes you can strength them, it is not to the same effect in terms of how long it takes to have them get stronger and how the tendons, ligaments, etc actually are able to sustain amounts of stress. Kinda like comparing apples to oranges, yes they’re both fruit but no they’re not the same thing. But what do I know, I never played in the MLB lol
