The fact that you seem to be confusing resolution with model complexity and texture detail makes it hard to have this conversation.

EDF Iron rain is much more pretty.. and it sucks. So I agree. Graphics don't make the game.

One of the greatest gaming decisions I've ever made was buyin EDF 2017 having nothin to go on but the cover art. I've played every one since. Don't worry about graphics ppl, this series is pure mindless fun.

I did the same thing back in 2007. bought it on a whim with no knowledge about the game at all. beat it 100% solo. hardest thing I had ever done in gaming but it was worth it.

The EDF series have a very loyal multiplatform fanbase so not having a PC or Xbox version is really shitty and I hope they sort it out soon. It'd be a perfect game for Gamepass.

Nice graphics are nice, but given the choice, gameplay ALWAYS is more important than pretty graphics (ahem, Fallout 76, and just about every EA title) This is a good example.

"You can stick your textures up your @&$" Better words have never been spoken. This game, this franchise is AMAZING. And it is so INSANELY over looked just on how it looks. I used to feel sorry for people that havent given it the chance it deserves. But i have since taken that sentiment back. I will happily enjoy this game myself amongst my comrades. Even though Sandlot deserves way more recoginition than they receive.
More important than any review is to know that Mack is feeling better by now.

@@shiftyjim4138 yea just cause 4 is a fun game and is better than 3. But the graphics are weird on the ps4, its like youre looking at a fading hologram at times.
@@deadcell4837 Probably just a bug of sorts, because from what I've seen Just Cause 4 looks a lot like Just Cause 3 and both look pretty darn impressive with JC4 having better special FX / post-processing FX.

For new players the quality of weapons you get is based on the difficulty. So you want to try each level on a harder difficulty at first. Some levels like Mac says is easier than others so you can get good weapons on those levels. Some are unbearably hard so just switch down to easier difficulty and use your overpowered weapons from the levels you could put the difficulty on hard. Just don't play only on one easier difficulty because you have to switch because some of the crazy fun weapons you get can only be gotten on harder difficulties.
The sense of scale is real something here.

So I've played a lot of these EDF games. And this one looks amazing. The blood sticking to the buildings, the ground and bug bits flying everywhere. Might have been worth keeping my PS 4 for this...
Really looks like a genuine fun video game, i miss these types of games, they dont ever seem to see the light of day on a large scale anymore.

Nice! Been waiting for this review. Meanwhile - you probably answere that but - what is You opinion on 4k or ultrawide or high refresh rate gsync monitors? I am in a process of getting a new monitor and not sure. Kinda leaning just towards simple flat 27" 4k ips monitor.

Hey Mac. I hope you're feeling better mate. I just found a game that came out of early access on Steam called Kenshi. It appears to be like Mount and Blade, but with RTS combat. It looks incredibly DEEP, and from what few reviews on Steam I've seen, people think it's amazing. It looks like something you would really enjoy, you aught to review it.
Would love a Starship Troopers Game with todays Technology.
This year I've played Gow, Spiderman, RDR2 and MHW and loved all of them, but having played 30 hours of EDF5 so far this is easily my Goty. Those guys have found the perfect formula for fun in a video game - it's the Tetris of action games. And yeah even a PC with an I9 + 2080 combo wouldn't be able to handle such a game with RDR2 graphics.
Also, if you're in command of a group of EDF soldiers, if you sing the first verse of the song, they sing the second, and if you sing third, they'll sing the fourth and so on. If you start chanting EDF, They'll chant right behind you, and it feels so fucking cool

It’s funny, if you were to say this is from an Indy publisher my immediate reaction would be “wow that looks amazing and a ton of fun” but being that it’s from an established publisher there is a bit of the graphics snob kicking in. Which i do recognize is stupid considering how much i am interested in games like “dusk” that intentionally have a pixelated retro style. I think it’s the fact it looks to be in an era that is not really considered classic, but more of just a stepping stone along the way to the final goal
Your enthusiasm for this game has won me over though I think. If it ever makes the jump to pc I will probably pick it up. I want to fight the bugs like in starship troopers!

Only ever played the first one on 360, and the terribleness and campiness made it fun. Might have to try another in the series on PC.
If you liked EDF 2017, you'll love EDF 4.1 on the PC. Pick it up on Steam, it's pretty likely that 5 will be released on the platform sometime in 2019.
@@44MagnumNA I actually did buy it yesterday, but Proton couldn't get it to run on Ubuntu. Was really excited for it. At least I got it for a friend who streams intentionally corny games on Twitch...
Is X4: foundations worth it? Recently got into elite dangerous.
ED is fucking boring man X series tend to be better they give you more stuff to do
X4 is a very good game. But I would wait a few months for more patches. There is a late game bug that makes the whole galaxy dead, everything just stops: the economy, trading, ship building, enemies dont spawn anymore, etc. Patch 2.0 is in the works and it will fix a ton of shit.
I’m with you on this mac, I really want this game on PC.
Until then it’s back to trying to 100% the items on 4.1.

Yes, EDF aint for everyone, but I would recommend getting 4.1 on sale either on ps4 or steam to try it out first.
The EDF series. Yeah, they might not be the prettiest games you'll see but they are a blast to play and that's what games should be. Fun to play.
