Yeah this segment really missed the mark on how baseless and politically motivated Hur’s report was. Even the dramatic readings come across unhinged when taken out of context, when in context and in their full length they’re even funnier and show Biden to be sharp and charming if rambling at times, which isn’t the same as having dementia.

I agree but they did make the more important point that forgetting dates is common and not a sign of dementia. If Biden couldn’t remember THAT his son Beau had died, rather than WHEN he died, then I’d be concerned.

Obviously Hur is having memory problems and cognitive losses. Sad.
The fact that Democrats are wasting time on this is strange. No one in the public who's being objective thinks Biden doesn't have memory issues. It's normal for an 81-year old. It only matters if he forgets important things.
Why is this a hard principle to grasp and a hard reality to accept? Biden can have memory issues AND be fit to be President. They're not mutually exclusive.
Everybody forgets stuff all the time. It's just a matter of which things you forget and whether your competence depends on remembering that specifically.
Biden doesn't need to remember ambassadorial names for example - he has a team to brief him on that and a literal voice in the ear if necessary. It's the things that Presidents can do UNILATERALLY that are important for him not to mess up. For example, greenlighting secret military missions that come down to Presidential approval. This is where his memory matters.

Biden was actually pretty spot on with the eulogy comment as well as his description of the "launch" process when you go into Sport mode on most if not all electric vehicles.

You know, I was a little confused at first when Jon announced that they’d both be hosting this week but seeing it in practice it makes sense. I mean, a “normal” news show has 2 anchors, so why not? SNL uses the same format with the weekly update. These two seem to play off each other well too

He's refusing to be baited for the soundbite. The questioner is trying to get a "gotcha" moment on camera by finding what "appears" to be contradictory evidence in very long report. The conclusion at the end is what counts, not an individual line on page 47. Hur is right not to take this bait since he stands by the conclusion at the end of the report and he knows well that those soundbites will replay if he gives them. Even if they're cherrypicked and not relevant.
If the interviewer was probing for the truth (which he's not), he would''ve said this "can you explain why you used the term photographic here but your overall conclusion was that Biden had memory issues?"
But that's not the question he asked because he didn't want an explanation (ie. the truth), he wanted a soundbite they could use in election slogans and on the Sunday shows.
To be clear, I'd vote for Biden if I lived in America but this waffling on Biden's memory by Democrats is only going to hurt them as every attempt to portray him as a quick-witted "on it" 81-year old is going to fall flat on its face as he's on video many, many times over having memory issues (forgetting words, misnaming places and leaders, etc) so it looks like a ridiculous attempt to win "not on the facts."
It isn't whether Biden has a poor memory - that's fine. Some people need to write down everything or they'll forget and they're perfectly competent. Forgetting the leader of Egypt's name isn't a huge deal unless you're talking to him. What matters is that Biden a) uses notes when he needs to and b) asks for help when he forgets.

Robert Hur seems to have memory problems, as he doesn't seem to remember having praised Baden's memory during the interviews.
Luckily, he's not running for President. Unfortunately, Biden is and DOES have memory problems. And no, I don't want Trump there either but Trump being worse doesn't let Biden's mental health off the hook when he has nuclear access codes and could wipe out countries with a nod of his head when, in reality, his neck had a crick because he's 81 and he wasn't answering your question, he was stretching.

I also forget when my mom passed, but for the opposite reason... it was a long, drawn-out illness that started before covid. Was it 2019? Was it 2021? I could definitely see whiffing that answer on any regular day, let alone on a day I'm being barraged with snitty gotcha questions designed to trip me up.

The bits left out of report joke was funny, but the real problem with the question on why photographic memory was left out was that he meant to ask, "how is the photographic recall accurately represented by 'bad memory' in your report?" To which the answer is either hur is a nincompoop or committed perjury in claiming that his report was accurate.
There could have been a completely valid explanation, memory isn't a singular thing, it's completely possible to have a poor memory in some aspects of life but near photographic in other aspects, this is especially true when talking about neurodegeneration since those disease are very heterogeneous in effects with some memories left perfectly intact and others completely destroyed. However, the fact that he didn't make this argument to justify the discrepancy and instead just distanced himself entirely would suggests there is something else going on, something else pressuring him to take a completely one-sided view...
@@agilemind6241 Hur did not use any of Biden’s strengths in his report which looks sinister at best. He also used his lack of recall regarding Beau’s death when he criticized Biden’s memory but it’s clear from the transcript that Biden definitely recalled the month and day that Beau died. His report does indeed suggest that something else was going on.
@@agilemind6241The problem is that the transcripts show his characterization of Biden is simply not true, and in fact catches a couple of outright lies (Biden not remembering the date of his son’s death)
Hur was actually more critical to Donald Trump then he was to Biden. Hur wasn't out to get Biden but rather he felt that a case against Biden wouldn't go through because of his Memory. That was his honest opinion.
He either prosecuted Biden for negligence of classified information or he waived it as an accident from an old man. What would you have wanted Hur to do? Hur ruled that Biden wasn't malicious in keeping the documents he just forgot.
Hur also ruled that Trump was malicious and actively sabotage efforts to retrieve the documents. Do you want the Man to lie about the evidence?
