- Today's episode of the NBA's Most Hated Players will feature Ja Morant. Morant has been at the center of controversy lately as he has been involved in a lot of risky situations. As always, I'll be taking an in depth look into entire situation but unlike a typical Hated player episode, I'm going to talk more about Morant's implications for the future rather than whether he was right or not.

If Ja Morant truly needed a handgun for personal safety, he’d hire a professional to take care of that. I doubt he’s skilled with firearms, and handguns are extremely inaccurate. So keeping that on him most likely makes every situation in his life exponentially more dangerous for everyone involved due to the likelihood of stray bullets. And even if he did know how to use it there’s no good reason to ever send the guy with a uniquely lucrative talent into a dangerous situation that could reasonably be handled by someone who’s easier to replace. Plus, armed guards don’t hurt your public image like open carrying does.
And I don’t believe Ja Morant is oblivious to this. His gun isn’t for personal defense, it’s there in a failed attempt to help him overcome his insecurities. Maybe he wasn’t considered to be tough when he was growing up or something like that, but this ain’t the answer.
