People act nice by lying to others instead of telling them a hard truth that they need to hear. "Nice" is just trying to make someone feel good in the moment. Look nice up in a Theseus and you wont find good, you'll find polite. Saying "he was a nice guy" is something you say about someone when there is nothing else good to say about him.

@@Denny-Thray Well, I can't remember what he said exactly, but from what I remember, Jontron was in a debate with Destiny and was against the typical narrative of immigration and the like, but he wasn't equipped to handle debates, so he wasn't able to word his views clearly. So those who sided with destiny painted Jontron as racist.
When Jared revealed his receipts, it was as Razor said: Circuit City long. He didn't deny that he and his wife's marriage fell apart due to him pursuing another woman when she didn't want to anymore. In fact, he had admitted that it was true. What he did was catch the two who were claiming he was a predator and a MAP in a lie. One of them being busted for their outright lie, and as a result, both of those accusers went silent.
If Jirard kept his cool and showed receipts, I doubt half the internet would've turned against him. If he just showed humility and accepted "We fucked up, myself most of all" then people like myself would've gone "I can't trust you with my money, but at least you admitted to a dangerous mistake." By pulling the victim card, shifting the blame on others, etc., I lost any remaining respect I had for him. Thanks to Razor, Liberal Hivemind, and others, I've learned to read the language that people who are caught red handed. Jirard definitely has has crimson hands.

Jontron and the Completionist were good friends. They started doing videos together. And of course, Gaming boots, with Peanutbutter gamer and Pro Jared. I thought highly of them at the time. And when Jontron got attacked by the beginings of the PC cancel culture train, and watched All of his good friends turn their back on him there was a change in me. Completionist, didnt really follow, but even here, you can tell he is throwing Jon under the bus so I doubt he was more supportive in the past. So in my eyes he has this coming, and it is his turn now.
But Pro Jared I liked and followed. But there was 1 things that he did that suddenly made me hate him. In a stream during the debacle with Jon fans asked ProJared about what he thought about it and Jon. To which he said "What Jontron? I don't know that guy." With a sarcastic way and then went on to throw him under the bus. THEN years later he suddenly is in a 'scandal' and everyone assumes he is guilty, just like with Jontron and what was his response? "Why are people so quick to assume the worst of me? Disown me and throw me under the bus without even giving me a chance to give my side?" To which I always pointed out in comments "You mean like how you did to Jontron?" He never responded.
But both of these people had their chances. Showed their true colors, and now are getting Karma times 10. And they completely deserve it. Those who give no mercy will certainly never be shown any.

Seeing how much of a scumbag Jirard is I can see why Greg left the show in the completionist's early youtube years. Dude, throws his own friends under the bus for the sake of his own BS.
Yes that's around the time I stopped watching Jirard's stuff too. Greg brought much more life to his videos and the way the separated raised lots of red flags. Was Greg completely innocent? Who knows, but the immediate bus throwing was a window into the type of person Jirard is.
The fact that he talks about not receiving mercy or nuance after calling Jontron racist is truly ironic and sad
I've had kind of a running theory since the whole scandal broke that Greg, who used to be cohost with Girard... found out about the charity thing, and tried to bring it to Girard so he could fix it, but Girard did what he's doing currently, and Greg didn't like the idea of being bought out like that, so that's why he quit. And Girard went on from there to try to bury everything by rerecording all of Greg's episodes without Greg... And now, it's all coming out from CZcamsrs who don't work with Girard, so he can't even try to hush them up the way he did Greg, and he doesn't know what to do about it, so he's floundering.
As far as the whole scandal, what people should be taking away from it is a cautionary tale... you can't just trust that a friendly face isn't going to stab you at some point. Look at Boogie 2988, and then look away... he was labelled 'The Mr. Rogers of CZcams' once upon a time, now nobody can stand him. Because everyone assumed the Francis character was a persona, but it's becoming obvious it was actually Boogie's natural persona, and the one he put on camera was the fake.

@phillipclearman859people are saying it cuz it adds up…. Karl and Mutahar had a source who clued them in on this, this former friend who just mysteriously left jirard’s show and the. was erased by jirard, it makes sense that this would be the guy who leaked this info.
The situation with Greg was stated from the start to be about a disagreement they had. I don't think many details were given. It was also stated that Greg asked for the old episodes to be removed. Jirard agreed, though thought he could win a legal case over it. He still left the videos up so that people could download them and even implied he'd allow people to repost the videos if they wanted.
I'm not trying to defend him in this situation. But there is literally no reason to think Greg had anything to do with this scandal. Nor that he knew anything. Or this had anything to do with Greg leaving.
Though a Google search finds a post on Reddit that claims to be him that was also deleted but people have transcribed what was said. It basically states that they drifted apart as friends.
No one knows all the details except for Greg and Jirard, but this is baseless speculation without a shred of evidence to support it. Criticize him for the absolute mishandling and possible fraud of this incident. Don't make up conspiracy theories without a basis in reality.
After listening to Raz0r for years I rarely heard that kind of softness in his voice. It's a blessing to have a caring grandma.

Nobody even remembers the exact reason as to how got Jontron got heat. He's a dude so universally loved that he can literally take a few months off and still make a couple million views per video at the minimum.

And it all could have been avoided had he done one simple thing:
Donate the money he raised from the stream after it was all done. There is no reason he could not have donated the money within a week of the streams concluding.
Not even. Had he told everyone from the jump that the money wouldn't get donated immediately pending him finding the right charity, he'd still get shit over it, but he'd have a clear out once people got mad at him because no one can really claim he was misleading anyone. He was up front with how the money was (or in this case, wasn't) being used.

@@RampageRich He (Jirard) also claimed that the reason the money wasn't donated earlier had to do with him finding the right charity to give it all in a lump sum for legal purposes. I've been paying attention to this saga, it's not that you're wrong, its that he's given contradicting answers and I'm doing a bit here. "What's the absolute minimum Jirard could have done to give himself an out here?" is the question to ask, and my answer is, "Make it clear the money's being held for a later lump donation," is all.

Leaving aside all the other evidence, those factors alone would raise red flags. But Jirad doesn't strike me as a smart man either.
One would think that The Completionist would be more sympathetic to those who got cancelled before him like Jontron and Projared with what is going down, but no, he would still tarnish their name whilst crying about his own reputation. Sad really.

Although Jirard did commit charity fraud, I do think he could have saved his ass, either by waiting for this to blow over, or by handling the initial call with Karl and Mutahar much differently.
Plus Karl and Mutahar tried to make Jirard look "good" by not releasing the entire call and only select bits. Now that Jirard has threatened legal action, all that good faith went right out the window. Karl is fighting Billy Mitchell in court so what's one more shlub? People want to hate on Karl and Muta but this is the kind of stuff that should be reported.
No, by instantly donating, apologize and closing open hand, would've saved him.

Didn't Jirard audition to host for Hard News back in the day when Destin left Screwattack? I think I remember a tryout video from him when you guys were looking for a new host. You guys dodged a bullet there.
I didn't even know Stuttering Craig was still alive after Screw Attack until I saw this.
But let's just remember, Karl and Mutahar didn't immediately release their videos on Jirard when they found out about the charity fraud. They contacted him, got his side of things and gave him over half a year to do the right thing. And what did he do with that time? He acted like everything was fine and kept the charity fraud going. He chose this. He's completed his career with an Open Hand behind his back.
My question now is, what about the people who worked closely with him? They have been very tight-lipped about all of this. Jesse Cox. Brett Bayonne. Alex Faciane. They were close friends of Jirard. Worked with Jirard on MANY different projects. Shared the same office space for a number of years. What did they know?
I have no sympathy, this guy is a coward, throwing former peers like Jontron under the bus again when he's desperate. Cowards will do anything if their arm is being twisted, you can't trust them. And unlike the Completionist, Jontron will continue to have success (and not go to jail).

This clip of "That Jirard guy, who has been nice to a bunch of people, actually isn't very nice overall" bothers me.
The subsentence of "who has been nice to a bunch of people" is how he perceives other people seeing him. While also indirectly telling to Karl and Mutahar that "There are people who see me as nice".
But as this audio also shows, he has no problem with distancing himself from old friends and colleagues and sees their troubles as a hit to his image. ProJared had receipts for his innocence yet Jirad sees him as a hit to his credibility.
As for JonTron. He (JonTron) had a point. It is possible to be racist against white people.
It may have been a bit poorly worded, but that was the crux of it I think. (That was like 7 years ago, so my memory isn't exactly fresh on that one)
I'm not going to open this can of worms any further. Everyone can build and have their own opinion about that.
Yet Jirard, as elegant as a sledgehammer in a Glass-Shop just sees JonTron as racist and thus another hit to his "nice guy" persona.

This whole situation is so wild. I think it’s cool for people to want to do good in the world, but everyone is so eager to get away from what made them notable. Jirard made cool videos of him crushing video games. That WAS the good he brought to the world. Give me a few minutes of escape from my own responsibilities. But instead he wants to save the world. The road to hell is paved with good intentions right? Should have done his charity work privately. Another commenter already said it, I'd like to hear the entire discord call. If there are any other inconsistencies in that call, I'd like to hear them.
Then again, if Jirard was lying out of his ass throughout the call and he can't remember what he lied about, it'd be best for Jobst and Some Ordinary Gamers to hold on to it to use in court against if he does sue them.

I said it in the live chat earlier today, but I'll say it again here: people REALLY need to let the JonTron thing go. It was like 10 years ago, by this point. He cited a flawed statistic during a debate with Destiny he wasn't fully prepared for and the internet crucified him for it. The fact people are STILL bringing it up when Jon has long since shut his trap on all things political and consistently puts out quality content on a myriad of subjects is frankly embarrassing. He hasn't been in any real drama since and is arguably in a better place today than all his former friends like Jared, PBG, Arin, and now Jirard. So just forget about what he said and take his content for what it is.
Edit: Razor is wrong about Muta and Karl. Both of them are legit stand up guys. I know it's popular to hate the "commentary" community these days, but no, they're cool.

I'm more favorable to Karl since he genuinely seems to be a decent dude and I don't feel like there's a completely different person behind their portrayal on camera. He also legitimately puts his neck on the line legally so I respect him for that. but Muta feels like a pr persons dream. Not a controversial opinion or weird thing about him. Kinda why I don't like drama channels in general they always come off as a pr facsimile of a human being where they have all the right opinions carefully curated for mass appeal. They never have a passionate opinion on anything unless it's something 99% of people agree with like child m**esters bad or something equally brave.
Fair to him as I've described it could just be how doing his type of content comes off to me. He could be a good guy but I don't like Muta, he gives me a bad feeling.

It's kinda hard to feel empathetic for the guy. It's equally hard to feel sympathy towards the guy. Dude thought he saw a shortcut to the top, so he cut ties with everybody he thought was tying him down the instant he got a moral excuse. I only wish this could be more poetic and he was going down for some offhand comment about a woman or a black person or something like that. More than that though, I hope ProJared realizes he got played and used. I'm not worried about JonTron. Kinda feels like he moved on from those people.

Jirards video response was written by a lawyer or someone on his team. You can tell when he's being genuine towards the end of his "apology" he's visibly angry and shaking. Also the narrative in the apology compared to the discord call are completely different, almost like he was caught off guard and had to shoot from the chest.
I liked Jirard I liked his content, but this was bad and now he's facing the consequences
@phillipclearman859 Except he did do it. He admits it in his apology video, using lawyer terminology thinking it wouldn't incriminate him. "I'm sorry you feel that way", "I should have used clearer language", it's all lawyer speak. Then throwing his weight and puffing up his chest with a lawsuit claim, which was entirely the wrong play to make in this situation as it lead Karl and Muta to release even more things *that they held back because they were giving Jirard the benefit of the doubt*.
There is no defending him at this point. Every which way you look he's handled this entirely wrong.
People can also get angry or being accused of things they did do. It can happen with particular personality types.

It was nothing but a tool that he tried to use to silence the ones who started the entire thing with their investigation. Regardless of if the anger was real or not, that was its intended purpose. It's painfully clear.

I was a fan since 2012, I'm not hating to hate, I genuinely hoped he made a mistake. But all you have to do is listen. At the end of the day I could still believe that Jirard is protecting some family members who took advantage of him and his charity. But if that's the case he's the face of indieland and his brand, and it's his responsibility to bring the guilty culprit to light.

How many of the youtubers of old have fallen to controversy at this point. Very few off the top of my head remain.
CZcamsrs who got big in the early 10s are definitely a less media-savvy sort than those who came after. Mr. Beast mastered the art of growing his brand. Markiplier got tight with CZcams management and leveraged that relationship to his advantage. PewDiePie handled controversy with steadfast grace- he took some big hits, but never the knockout shot that the mainstream so desperately wanted. Compare and contrast to Channel Awesome, Epic Meal Time, and now TOVG/Normal Boots.

Can I ask how Jirard’s “niceness” wasn’t a red flag? I’ve always gotten a fake or “I’ll say what I need to say” vibe off Jirard. I’ve really been cautious of him and didn’t watch much any more after his buddy left him a few years ago. That guy was the life of the show and Jirard went robot after he left/was pushed out.

What's wild to me about all of this is that this could be so easy to explain. "I didn't trust that specific charity to spend the money correctly and I just forgot about it. You're right. I screwed up. I'll find a more reputable charity to send the money to immediately."
What I'm unsure of is how much Jirard actually had to donate. It sounds like he donated less money than he raised to a charity. So, did he get this money in superchats and Twitch or whatever took a portion? If not, then where's the rest of the money? If this is an honest mistake, then why is Jirard freaking out so bad? Why the hell is he so worked up?

@Thecommander248 The charity foundation he ran was named after his deceased mother, and the other members of the foundation are his family members. So that’s where all his talk of damaging his family comes from. He used his mother’s name to steal charity money.
