    • @silverrahul
      @silverrahul Před 10 měsíci +4

      @@Xinnie_The_Flu i am so glad that someone is recognising the PPP factor in these cost comparisons.
      Also people need to realise that this is like comparing apples and oranges.
      The chandrayaan mission is very different from other missions that its cost is being compared to.
      Just because two missions go to moon, does not make it the same.
      That is like comparing an two phones of different prices and wondering how the one phone is able to be built at a fraction of a price as that of another phone
      obviously, phones with different specs and features will have different costs.
      Just because two phones can both make calls does not make them equivalent.
      Similarly, just because two spacecrafts can land on moon , does not make them equivalent.

    • @Xinnie_The_Flu
      @Xinnie_The_Flu Před 10 měsíci +4

      @@silverrahul lol. I hope you don't mean ISRO is cheap. Jk.😂

    • @silverrahul
      @silverrahul Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@Xinnie_The_Flu well , the mission is obviously cheaper than other missions. But saying isro is cheap is wrong.
      But my point is that, in terms of engineering, it is not just about the overall cost . It is all about tradeoffs. If you make a budget smartphone instead of an apple iphone, you make conscious trade offs about what features to include and what to exclude.
      LIke someone else pointed out, the first obvious trade off is the travel time. It takes a longer , circuitous route to the moon.
      The other tradeoff is the payload capacity and volume. the payload is smaller and lighter than other payloads which directly limits the number and kind of experiments that will be able to be done.
      These are all the factors which lead to the mission being less expensive.
      And obviously the PPP difference between india and the other countries is also a huge factor. This PPP factor applies for all kinds of things being cheaper in india, not just space programs.
      The PPP factor leads to movie budgets being cheaper as well, for instance.
      PS: on second thoughts, i think the iphone to budget smartphone comparison analogy was not a great one on my part. Because , a huge part of iphone being costlier is not just the feature and specs, but also the "brand".
      A better analogy would be two different models of the same brand. For example, maybe lower end smartphone and a higher end smartphone of the same brand.
      Here, both phones obviously have different prices because they both have different features. No one goes "wow. the lower end phone can make phone calls too but it costs WAYYY less" . That would be clearly absurd because every one knows that the specifications and features are not the same on both phones.
      But in case of this spacecraft, way too many people are going "wow. this spacecraft can go into space and land on moon too. But it costs WAYYY less than other". They dont even consider taking a second look at the specifications and features list of the different spacecrafts.

So the best minds are actually there , the problem sometimes maybe the brain drain to America , some bright minds prefer to go abroad because the salary of an isro engineer is even tho alot but they'll get better paid in the states while working in an MNC

The Legendary Space Scientist who made the nuclear test beneath the nose of USA, we call him the Missile Man and even unanimously elected him as the president is Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam is a Muslim. The great Scientist Homi J Bhabha is a Parsi (Americans don't even know what's a Parsi is). The founder of ISRO was Vikram Sarabhai who was a Jain (from the 0.1% minority of India).
