  • Cindy Wigglesworth is the author of SQ21: The Twenty-One Skills of Spiritual Intelligence and the President of Deep Change, Inc. Cindy worked at Exxon in human resources management for 20 years. Seeing both the strengths and limitations of traditional leadership approaches, she left ExxonMobil to start her own business dedicated to developing the multiple intelligences of leaders and organizations.
Cindy is ambassador for Conscious Capitalism, and is quoted by Patricia Aburdene in her book Megatrends 2010: The Rise of Conscious Capitalism. Her passionate commitment is to help birth a new way of talking about spirituality that gets us beyond the barrier of "religion versus science" and lands us squarely in the "this stuff works!" category of applied wisdom.
Her corporate clients have included The Methodist Healthcare System (now a Fortune 100 best employer), BHP Billiton Petroleum and M D Anderson Cancer Center.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)

I've been considering the importance of the idea of dignity for some time now. I am not at all surprised to see how closely it relates to the idea of nobility. Really good talk! Nice to see you, thanks Cindy!

Interesting ideas. The question "When others do something irritating, what would it take for me to do the same?" sounds a little self-centered, which I thought is what Cindy is trying to get away from.

Switching perspective taking modes is valuable. If you're already reacting by being irritated, then you're at a reactive self. By stepping further into that identity but testing it with what other relation would justify that, you can actually move into relationship with something that's a challenge, rather than just being irritated. From there, it's easier to step back to a more holistic perspective and see all contexts, which is helpful to wise and compassionate decisions.

Spiritual Intelligence (noble, ie. 'characterized with high moral principles and ideals.) can't exist without a recognition the teachings of Messengers of God. "Noble I made thee, wherewith dost thou abase thyself? Out of the essence of knowledge I gave thee being, why seekest thou enlightenment from anyone beside Me?" ~Bahá’u’lláh, The Hidden Words

Teaching from across the traditions help us to approach the Ultimate. But is any of them more right than another? Holding that perspective is indicative of Mythic and Authoritarian levels of thought. They may be the correct teachings for you, but there are more of us. In diversity, there is richness. Nobility recognizes that people cannot be forced through an evolution they are not receptive for. Be with them where they are, invite them to go further. Share the teachings you know and love when they are asked for.
