- Your guitar face will definitely engage when you feel the tones of the Players Edition Broadkaster Junior emanating from your amp. If your thoughts on the Gretsch Sound were formed by vintage recordings of Chet Atkins and Eddie Cochran, you've got some catching up to do. These Tim Shaw-designed Fulltron pickups pack an incredible midrange punch, topped with the sweet high-end sheen that made Gretsch electrics famous. Add in the sustain-enhancing, feedback-busting center block, and you've got a tone beast that will take you from country and blues to high-gain rock - and all points in between.

I've had one of these for over a year ... and I love it. This is a work horse and it easily handles every style of music ... .
Picked up one a week ago. It instantly became my favorite guitar that I had ever owned, and it surpassed my double cutaway full sized Broadkaster as it. My bassist in my band played it, and said that it was the nicest electric guitar he has ever played.
When testing some Gretsch(s) recently I had an epiphany regarding the master volume.. i.e., once you get your individual pickup volumes blended for your song, the master volume is all you need to touch to take the whole blend up and down as needed.
Love that guitar.
sounds really good 👍
I bought one last month (£2k in the U.K). I like it, especially the fast neck.
For all practical purposes, the perfect guitar.
Awesome guitar. I want one. lol Just curious though usually the Tone Control is demoed by turning it all the way down then slowly going up just like the Volume Control. You did the opposite and threw me for a loop! Also the Gretsch site says it comes with a String-thru Bigsby® B7CP vibrato tailpiece. If im not mistakened the ones with the single Letter and Number are made in the U.S. Thank you. Also has a smaller body 14' I need the smaller body as i am short with short arms. lol
Hey there Hoosier! Thanks for the demo I’m thinking of buying one. Made in Japan I know it’s life long quality. I have issue with the QC on my Korean Gretsch. It sounds great, looks like a Les Paul sized body, but the neck, does the neck feel like a Les Paul? What’s the neck profile like and does it feel nice and rolled fretboard?
As far as backing off the tone control goes, some jazz players like to roll off a little high end.
The Electromatic step-down from this I guess would be the G5655T? The 6659 sounds great, esp. in the middle position.
They're very similar, but the 5655 has a bit thinner neck profile, and BroadTron pickups which are a bit higher output and more midrange focused than the FullTrons in the Broadkaster.
I have both of them, and before I got the Broadkaster Jr, the G5455T got the most use versus all my other guitar with my current band. Yes the Broadcaster Jr is nicer, but the G5455T will be my backup, or the main guitar at gigs at seedier venues.
Ac/dc, guns and roses, rancid, social distortion all use gretsch for thick distorted rhythms.
Which would you choose:
This Gretsch? Or a Gibson ES-335?
The woman tone!
I wonder if I should trade my Starplayer TV for this one??? It sounds glorious.
