    It is so clever, how YR designed the suspension so that it KEEPS the same track width, but gets rid of those ridiculous 1/2" long control arms!! Another great presentation from you!

    This is an excellent video. All the tips and tricks are explained, shown, and the mods needed to make it WORK. The music is non-intrusive, dead air kills videos. Thanks for the link to Yeah Racing, and the addition of the taller tires makes it look so much better. Did they hurt the acceleration? This video is why I will buy this car. Thanks, and keep up the good work!

    I forgot just HOW good this Yeah Racing Long Arm Kit really is. And this is the first time I think, that the 90mm MST Tyres actually look BIG!! 😜 A perfect fit for these little Cars, I must find a set. Now that I have built the stock Suspension with the 20mm Arms - it's obvious that the YR Kit is almost necessary to do. It now has a TRF Racing look to it, with performance to match!!

    Great video! For anyone doing this, here's a solution for not cutting the motor gear cover. Instead of using the kit supplied endlinks, use the "Tamiya 5mm short adjuster" 50797. They are $2.60 from Tamiya, and since they are "open", they allow installation of the cover with no clearance issues or cutting. 5:26

    Hello Matteo, great video as always👍
    I'm interested in this chassis, for this HR mod, and it's adjustability; I just wonder how it will do with something a little torque-ier than a Sport Tuned, and would the drivetrain handle slightly larger tires, and all the weight from the upgrades? I'm thinking favorite car of all time build, so I must know all it's secrets. Slipper clutch?

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 6 lety

      MF-01X is a small little car, with limited off road capabilities. Be careful not to overtax it. It have no slipper clutch.

    You should never super glue the servo saver to the horn. It defeats the purpose (unless you don't mind destroying your steering servo any time you impact your wheels into something).
    The problem with the play that you noticed could've been fixed in a number of different ways.
    1. Either your screw was too loose and simply needed tightening.
    2. If your screw keeps coming loose, you could fit a small serrated or spring washer to prevent untightening.
    3. Your horn screw may be too long. Find a shorter screw or file down your screw to size.
    I'm also not a fan of locking diffs, but at least there is no potential for damaging anything by doing that.
    Nice vids, btw. ✔️😉👍

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 6 lety +1

      Thanks for your feedback! First, all your tips are good but not the problem of the play. As i mentioned in the video it should be used a high quality servo for this modification. This will not be destroyed. And I used the car more as a trail runner, not a racing machine. And on the trails you have to use your steering sensible...

    Great video. I'm still undecided - standard. Tamiya suspension with oil dampers and 90mm tires, or ful Yeah suspension upgrade. I've read that the Yeah long arm upgrade gives you 36% (not my number) more suspension travel, but that probably translates to c. 5mm worth of extra travel. Is this upgrade really worth it relative to the capabilities of this m-type kit? Will it significantly improve its cross country capabilities (trail not crawl)? About to start my built.

    Hallo Matteo, und vielen Dank für die tollen Informationen im vorbildlichen Viedeo :-) Nach deinem Video habe ich direkt das YR-Kit bestellt. Ich habe eine Frage zu den verwendeten CVA Super Mini Shocks: weißt du, ob die den selben, sehr kurzen Federweg von rund 6mm wie die TRF-Versionen haben? Letztere habe ich in der Originalaufhängung i.M. verbaut, und sie bieten nur etwa den halben Federweg im Vergleich zu den Plastik-Original-"Dämpfern".

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 7 lety

      Danke für dein Lob! Also bin da auch nicht sicher, aber ich denke die CVA Super Mini shocks haben den selben Federweg wie die Original Plastik Dämpfer. Ich kann mir aber vorstellen das die Alu-TRF Dämpfer weniger weg haben.

    • @ephi0815
      @ephi0815 Před 7 lety +1

      Und danke für deine schnelle Reaktion. Stutzig macht mich: die Plastik-Rutscher haben eine Auge zu Auge-Länge von 55mm, sowohl die TRFs, als auch die CVAs kommen nur mit dem verlängerten Shock end auf 55mm, sonst haben beide 51mm, also gleich kurzen Dämpferweg?! Wenn das Set da ist, werde ich die YR 55mm Dämpfer probieren und kann gerne eine Rückmeldung dazu geben.

      Ok, ja bin gespannt drauf!

      @ephi0815 Před 7 lety

      Also, die Plastikrutscher haben unausgefedert eine Länge von 54mm, eingefedert 44mm. Die TRF (54000) mit den verlängerten rod ends 55mm und 49mm, also lediglich 6mm Federweg. Ich habe jetzt die Yeah Racing Dämpfer mit 55mm drauf, hier messe ich wieder 54/44mm. Zusammen mit den silbernen Originalfedern passt das zur Originalaufhängung aus meiner Sicht am besten. Mal schauen, wie es mit der YR-Aufhängung arbeitet.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 7 lety

      Hatte am Wochenende gerade eine Erfahrung damit gemacht. Mein Freund hatte einen MF01X dabei mit Yeah Racing Aufhängung und längere Dämpfer. Weil aber dadurch der Ausfederweg sehr gross war und damit der Winkel, sind mehrmals die Knochen aus den Mitnehmern am Getriebe gesprungen. Könnte ein Problem sein wenn der Federweg zu gross ist. Vielen Dank für deine Infos! LG Matteo

    Seems like a lot of people are having problems with loose Tamiya servo savers. Everyone seems to have a different solution. I tried super glue on my grasshopper but it eventually gave out. I saw a guy using rubber tubing around the outside, however, I've found another way to fix this problem without much effort. I use a leftover self tapping screw from the Tamiya kit and a small washer in place of the machine screw that comes with my servo. It will hold the servo saver together just fine. BTW, I noticed a Futaba S3001 servo installed. I've been using S3004 servos without any problems so far but I hear that the S3001 has better "precision". One of my Tamiya's came with a S3003 servo and I feel like it doesn't always center properly. Im just wondering if the S3001 servo is really worth the extra money? 🤔

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 7 lety

      It's because of the grip on loose ground and off roading. With open diffs, if one tire have no ground contact the traction is away. But for on road is better to let the diffs open.

    The MF-01X doesn't come with oil shocks or ball bearings in the kit?
    It's disappointing to see the diffs are not sealed. This is 2016, all RC diffs should be able to hold oil now.
    MST makes aluminum servo savers that fit very tightly and are adjustable. You should consider using one on your truck. I use them on all my Tamiya cars.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 7 lety

      +Shawn Elliott Yes it comes without ball bearings and oil shocks. But please consider the price of this kit! I had no issues with the diffs on Tamiyas. It's hard to believe a diff can hold the oil inside... Thanks for the tip with the servo saver, I'll check them!

      @deusexaethera Před 7 lety +1

      ***** You're right, those diffs definitely can't hold oil. That is disappointing, because I like tuning my diffs with oil.
      The MF-01X costs $200 in the US. That is the same price as a Traxxas Slash. The MF-01X looks nicer, but the Traxxas Slash has sealed diffs and metal gears.

    • @Matteomeier

      Tamiya products are very expensive here. I have several XV-01 cars and they cost about $600 including upgrades.

    • @Matteomeier
      @Matteomeier  Před 7 lety

      +Shawn Elliott That's crazy. But the prices on Tamiya USA website are catalogue prices not the price on the market. Found the same in USA for 120.- www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXFKEP&P=ML
      And they have also a RTR Version for 290.-
