This was a hard video for me to feel comfortable uploading. I felt embarrassed about what happened but also felt that if sharing my experience would help prevent something like this happening to any other arachnid enthusiast/keeper, it was worth doing. I hope you can see my mistake and recognize that I do exercise the utmost responsibility and maturity around these animals. Thank you for watching and don't forget to answer today's question of the day!
A wise person once said “You learn from your faults“
@@janek8819 This is too true! Thanks for sharing
Man she’s pretty though.
@@reolan6387 dude calm down
Everyone makes mistakes but it takes big cahones to show them publicly. Props to you for teaching us how to avoid these incidents!
"No thank you, please go back home" lmao! Thanks for sharing, definitely learned something from this video!
8:25 yes, one time I let my husband go to the hardware store without adult supervision. Still trying to pay off that bill 1 year later.
Hahaha
I love that you admitted what happened and learned from it. Thank you for sharing.
🙏🏼
Don’t be embarrassed!! In the animal world you pets are good at humbling you! I raise and train horses and every time I think I have it they humble me😉😉😉 important part is you reacted in the manner you should have!!
Awesome scorpions! I really enjoyed this video. I dont knownif i would say "I'm going to expose myself" in a video though...lol.
Haha thanks for watching friend! Lol that’s not what I meant 😵😂
So I had a juvenile OBT in a critter keeper with a broken lid, which I weighed down with a stone. Well one day I forgot to put the stone back and it got out. Lived in my house for over a month before I found it webbed up inside a luchador mask I had on my dresser! Its abdomen was tiny but it seemed healthy, lucky they can handle low humidity. I managed to recapture it and it is now thriving in a secure setup lol
Don’t be embarrassed. It happens to the best of the best animal keepers. Thank you!!!! For sharing and give other keepers an eye opening potential hazards to other keepers in the hobby.
Ps. Love love the haircut
My reckless moment was handling my Burm by myself. He had a great disposition 99.9% of the time but I had the rule of always handling him with someone else in attendance bc of his size and strength. Well, one day he'd had an epic poo and I had had friends coming over so I wanted his enclosure clean. I broke my rule. Big mistake. He got his tail trough the hip of my shorts, freaked out, bit the back pocket and decided to kill them with me in them. Fortunately my partner came home a minute later and was able to help. Bad enough he snapped off a couple teeth, but he also got a couple well placed loops on me. It could have gone waaaay worse. So no more butts or buts after that... no breaking the two person rule again, ever.
I keep an H. Tamulus roughly the same size as your U. Fischeri in the same size and style of mini container, and when I'm feeding her, I don't take the lid off the container, I just open the tiny hatch, insert the roach with the feeder tongs, and when she grabs onto the roach, I pull back the tongs and close the hatch immediately to avoid exactly this issue. This is the main reason I stick to 10 gallon glass tanks for my hot scorpions. the higher walls are just that little bit of extra insurance that they're not going to be able to come out
cricket said "lets take this outside"
Cricket: If I'm going down I'm taking you with me - yeets out
Ever since I was a little kid I've been interested in arachnids. People talk about scorpions like things that crawl straight out of your nightmares but I thing the little guys are downright fascinating. Something so small being so potent, mind blowing. The whole video I was marveling at how fast the stings went to work and I gotta say, you should be happy that you have experience with them to handle things when they go pear shaped. If that hadn't happened to you or someone you know before how could you have known it would happen. I'm sure you felt your heart damn near jump out of your chest though. Well done and beautiful animals.
We all have things happen. That was truly something I would not have thought would happen. Thank you for sharing so others can learn. That was an awesome video.
Ive had something similar happen with a huntsman that grabbed a locust which catapulted both out of the enclosure but wellp happens and as long as we learn our lesson its fine....apart from that damn those are some sick Androctonus species.....i only have the A. Australis and its most common morph "hector" but after this video i might have to search for your species ...... You are really making amazing videos man i really enjoy it and u inspired me to start my own collection.... ive specialized in venomous creatures and am currently father to over 30 medically significant arachnids......so in short: thx for being an inspiration man.
Thanks for sharing your experience! Happy to help! Thanks for your support and viewership!
Aah! Glad you're okay! Thank you for sharing this lesson 😭
I was stung by a juvenile flat rock during the transfer to his new habitat. He hit me right at the top of my fingernail bed and held on for a good few seconds. Wasn't painful, didn't hurt him and the sting made me feel like I had one too many drinks.
Hi! U r obviously always very careful and responsible with all ur critters...such a random accident but WOW that was scary! Good job sharing with all of us...I'm absolutly positive you just saved someone from making the same mistake! 👏👏👍🐢🐊🦊🐠🦎🦖🐋🦋🐓🦧🕷🦜🦚🐛🐍🦃🐳🐳🐅🦩🦔💯😳😳❤
My grip was not tight enough on one of my green tree frogs and it escaped to an area in between my corner cabinets in the kitchen. I got it out about 45 minutes later , took a cloth pole to get it to jump back out.
And sorry about the loss
you rock Dion
Hi Dayyan, plz don't be embarrassed. You are a great caregiver to your pets. If that was on purpose that would've been one thing. It was a good learning experience for all of us.
Agreed Tracy 🙂
@@SB-hr1ti 😊
I love it when you make scorpion feeding videos
Hahaha awesome 🤩 never saw something like that 😂 the scorpion literally riding the cricket into freedom 🤣
Scorpion with Ninja Skills LOL.... great video 😂🙂😂🙂😂🙂
I think it's a very good video to post!! People can learn from your experience. Because who would even think of that happening if they didn't see it for themselves.
Wow thats crazy. Great footage
That was alarming! I'm glad neither of you were hurt!
I went out for a drive with my cat once. I learned my lesson, cats can't drive well.
I'll never forget my car-averse cat somehow unzipping his travel bag and crawling onto my lap, then onto my shoulder, then onto the steering wheel while I was on the highway. The only time he ever dug his claws into me so hard that I bled 😭😭😭
my turtle is a RES and i have her live outside during the summer, a few years ago i gave her free roam while cleaning the pond, and she disappeared!! but i found her a few days later and was SO relieved. I live on an island with salt water around me, so if she got into the wild she would have died or helped the invasive turtles. now i know to never underestimate how fast turtles can sneak away. She is getting a new pond soon, and im excited to start building :)
Yes, i tried to rehouse my t. albopilosum sling and since she was very calm all the time i didn't expect her to bolt... but she did.. and ran out of the new enclosure and i got scared and let the catch cup slip and it fell on her. I quickly removed the catch cup und caught her and put her in her new home. She seemed fine at first but died a week later.
I learned from that experience to be more calm and focused around my tarantulas.
great video pal some beautiful scorps in your collection there awesome
Thank you!
Wow that last one was feisty
She always is 😅
It wasn't even the scorpion that jumped, she just held on to the cricket and then it just leaped across your desk.
When my Leopard Gecko was new, I thought he was too small to crawl out of his enclosure. But 3 days later, he managed to crawl out a be missing for a day 🤣🤣🤣
Luckily we found him and from then on, I’d lock his enclosure whenever he was in there
That title had me scared for a second.
It’s not clickbait 😅
WOW! that was epic. The small scorpion was just flying out of the container.
Be careful feeding your scorpion with a bigger victim.... Well presented video.
Big like and stay safe.
Hey, we need to see what can really happen. Thanks for sharing! 💚
😲 omg chimney cricket took that scorp for a ride of his life 🤣 slow motion it was like et and Eliot riding over the moon🤣🤣🤣
Awesome! Don't be embarrased, clearly it could happen to anyone. But not everyone would have showed the "learning opportunity"!
Thank you...
It's very obvious that the cricket flung itself and the scorpion out of the enclosure. The scorpion was along for the ride.
I had a sp. Rufus sling escape lived in my crown molding 4days found her safe and sound great video ! I really want a jayakari!
Great video, feeding videos can be difficult because you never know what an animal may do. I understand your concern with height and going to a taller enclosure but also consider damage from a fall. The double enclosure (tall) for feeding, is a great idea. Thanks for sharing 👍
My answer to the question of the day: I used to have a leopard gecko with neurological issues and I made the mistake of cohabitating her with a normal leopard gecko and she ended up not eating enough and getting bullied. I was a kid so I didn't have the money to get a separate enclosure and I didn't do enough research on the negatives of cohabitation so in the end the poor thing lived a much shorter life than she deserved. I still remember how she would wobble around so much it took me an hour just to get her to eat. Definitely my biggest regret and the reason I won't let my future kids get pets until they are old enough to care for them and pay for them themselves.
i once wanted to take of the blanket off a horse, but didn't notice, that there were girths around the legs to secure it, so i took the blaket off but the girths were still around the legs and if the horse would have trying to walk, the girths would have blocked it and it could have panicked and broke some legs or something... and it was new years eve and there horse was afraid of firework.. from that day i always doublecheck for it
You had me at “I’m going to expose myself” lmao 🤣
Omg yikes I'm glad your ok !!!
Thank the lord u didnt get stung I've been stung by a scorpion here in Georgia, it hurt and made me a little sick is all, I did go to the dr. And he gave me meds
Wow that’s intense! Thank you! I was very happy not to get stung too 😅
The flying scorpion
Accidents happen, glad you're safe and she didn't get hurt either or loose!!! Aaaack could you imagine?!? That would terrify me, I wouldn't be able to sleep.
I always look forward to hearing the first frogs singing after a long winter. Summer evenings with the 🦗🦗 🦗 crickets ... so cool. You're lucky to have it year round.

Last year I bred my beardies for the first time I was really excited and really stressed by the end, but I loved the whole experience. After feeding the babys I accidentally left open the enclosure and some of them got out into my house and one of the babys some how lost its tail it was really bad then I did the same exact thing with another clutch, luckily I retrieved all of the babys from both clutches. I learned to always double check then triple check if my enclosures are closed so yea.
Dayyan, I can't believe you locked us in with the scorpions!
😉 I had fun in there!
the intros are so good
Thank you!
Wow!! I have a psycho male Arizona bark scorpion who flings itself when it catches a cricket.
mourning geckos escaped
QOD answer, I once left the top off my terrarium while I was retrieving the meal of my bull snake, a fuzzy mouse. The bull snake decided she wanted to try pretending to be a flying snake. I managed to get her back in her enclosure, but not before she pooped on my floor and ate some carpet fibers with her fuzzy mouse meal. Remember to be absolutely prepared with your tongs and all containers. Don't open up the enclosure and then waste time opening the mouse tub. Keep your eye on the prize.
My Crested Gecko biet me yesterday when i give him Repash Food
This happened to me about a month ago while I was feeding my 3i Androctonus bicolor! Luckily it didn’t get flung far and landed on my bed. I managed to catch it and it’s still doing great.
QOTD: well... one day i rehousing one my T slings on a table that's kinda high from the ground and sadly it dropped on the ground and died, I learned to be much much more careful with such sensitiv animals and to rehouse em on the ground
That's crazy how far it jumped
Good for you! Very brave to share a mistake! Question: What made you decide to keep the scorpions you have?
Such cool animals 🤩
Thanks!
New subscriber and love all your critters. Just curious why are all the scorpion housings so small? Not judging, it seems you truly care about them but wondering if there was a reason behind it beside space savor. Look forward to watching more. Thanks!
I accidentally left my crested gecko tank unmatched after replacing food. And my gecko jumped on the door and escaped luckily I found him the next day sleeping near his tank. Needless to say I make sure all my enclosures lock now.
question of the day: There was one day where i decieded to move my P.murinus RCF from a small box into a bigger box. And the box was so small there was only "webbing" everywhere. So i opend the box and grabbed the "webbing ball" with tweezers and while i had it with the tweezers like flying from one box to the other the Spider jumped out of it, down my desk into some cablemanagment, so i jumped down with a cup and tried to cup it. She managed it to break out of the cup and rushed under my bed! i barley could grab her! but she rushed again. I catched it after 2 hours. I was shaking and full of adrenalin. I didnt slept that night because i was so "loaded with adrenalin". This teached me so hard! Iam still looking for a good way to catch and move spiders. iam not a total amateur or stuff. I had spiders for a long time. And this way to move them worked times before very good. But this time it teached me not to do it again.
De leg the crickets! I always de leg mine!
the cricket jumped with the scorp clinging on it wasn't the scorps doing
Wow scorpions look cool
Indeed!
That was a dangerous feeding but it’s not your fault.. I myself woulda never expected that
Dayyan could you plz do a dendrobates tinctorius azureus update ? Really want to see how they're doing
Live and learn 😂. Found a new reason to feed roaches.
Not legal in Canada :(
@@Reptiliatus ohhh right. Man that's rough. Wonder if the scorpions would love a silkworm. Hmmm 🤔
Hi can u please make a isopod feeding I like isopod I'm getting my first collection
Not just scorpions. I tried to pick up a grasshopper when I was about 4...it threw me 8 metres into the air. Nine broken arms and ripped biscuit.
Where are you from, Australia? Where the grasshoppers are marsupials.
You're too hard on yourself. Thanks for sharing so we don't make the same mistake!
oh fuck yea baby
Yes. Forgot to close the enclosure.
(Note to self close enclosure)
I had that same thing happen years ago. Luckily it was only a Maurus Palmatus which landed right in my hand and immediately went crazy stinging my finger multiple times in a split second. They may be harmless but it's still not fun
I am interested in scorpions partly because I find them creepy and scary but also find them fascinating. I was wondering how you keep them warm. I've had spiders, snakes, lizards, frogs, rabbits, fish, chickens cats and dogs. Thanks
My scariest experience was probably the time my L. quinquestriatus chose violence and tried to climb the tongs. Little guy got within an inch of my fingers.
Why not just drop the tweezers? Well, because I didn’t wanna kill or hurt it.
Not a dramatic story to tell but at the time it felt pretty dramatic. I never knew that species could climb tongs until that day lol.
In two days
Where do you get your reptiles from
what substrate are you using for your desert species? My hottentotta hottentotta is on a sand/soil blend, but I've been trying to find something similar to what i've seen in your videos
This is the exo Terra desert substrate! I love it so much! It looks so natural and it can be sculpted the same as zoomed excavation clay!
Hi I love u r channel
Hi! Thanks so much! I’m glad you do!
😀
Where do you buy your scorpions?
Do the desert scorpions require any additional heating or is it similar to tarantulas where if we are comfortable so are they?
I would honestly suggest a bit of supplemental heat. Ideally you keep them around 84-88f. You just have to make sure they have access to a small amount of water at all times but that they aren’t kept too humid either
The Uroplectes fischeri are incredible, how big is yours? Are they hardy? I want to order from TarCan but they are so tiny I'm too scared of something happening.
Imma add that to my list of why i don't like feeding crickets lmao.
Flying venomous scorpion would be a good movie monster haha.
My biggest mistake is probably dropping on of my T's cups when i just got into them. Or dropping the lid on my praying mantis. The lid was very light luckily. Both animals are still going strong :)
How often do you feed for scorpions
Hi
What skorpion are you looking forward to own one time
Something so super sad happened to me a few years ago that still makes me feel so bad and guilty to this day. I was feeding my baby cresties in their tubs one morning and wasnt concentrating and by mistake I closed the lid on one that I didn't see was trying to get out 😭 And I only realised hours later when I came back to check on them. But it was too late, the poor thing had died. I just hope it was a quick death and that it didn't suffer 😭😭😭 I never made that mistake again 💔
I’m so sorry 🥺💔. That’s so awful. I appreciate you sharing with us! Sometimes we learn the hardest of lessons to help us grow and pay more attention!
That is so scary 😂
Yep 😅🦂
Having a snake escape or the time I fell asleep with my stimsons python in my hand :(
To be fair, the scorpion didn’t fling herself, the cricket jumped and flung her, not sure how you would have avoided this, it can happen at any time with a jumping feeder!
Yikes! I would probably feed them in the bathtub!!
I got bite from my bark scorpion hurt for 3 weeks
No embarrassment needed. Things happen. You learned a lesson. And no way to know that would happen. Crazy. Another great vid. Thank you for sharing.
Oh boy have I done some dumb shit. Just a couple of days ago I left my red eyed crocodile skink enclosure opened. It was too wet so I wanted to let it dry a little bit. I thought the skink wouldn't get out because well she's not a gecko, she can't climb vertical surfaces. Long story short - she did. I couldn't find her in my room, panicked so bad because we have a large apartment. THANK GOD she just got out of the room and immediately hid under our umbrella basket. If she decided to go farther I'd probably never find her. This is why I'll never keep venomous animals, I KNOW I'll fuck up. Never did anything to put myself in danger but my animals... yikes
i was dum enough to reach my hand in my Vietnamese centipedes enclosure to change his water dish and he bolted onto my hand and up my arm
😳😱! That’s scary! I hope you weren’t bit!
@@Reptiliatus thankfully I wasn’t bit, but my soul left my body
gotta get smaller crickets....
So I’m confused did the scorpion jump with the cricket or did the cricket jump while the scorpion was holding on and they both flew?
Well scorpions can't jump, so I would say the latter.
