As someone who appreciates scorpions for the amazing invertebrates they are; and someone who loves and appreciated modern science and medicine, I appreciate you sharing your collection with us and keeping animals that have such medical and scientific significance. And showing how specialized these predators are at how they take down their prey. I will never get over how cool scorpions are

Thank you! I can certainly agree! I am a firm believer that many advancements and discoveries in medicine and science will come from the places humanity are least willing to look. If you google research in invertebrate venom, the medicinal research that is being conducted and the beneficial implications to humanity are quite fascinating!

Scorpions are amazing hunters, the problem is that they don’t eat whenever you want. It may take months in order for them to become sufficiently hungry and eat in front of you. I think that the last takedown was definitely the greatest, but the first also was quite unexpected, as you said she hasn’t eaten for a long time.

these are sooo cooool! im not a huge fan of scorpions but i do find them very fascinating, and i remember when i was younger and spent a few months in the Utah wilderness i came across so many scorpions. I remember one time i woke up with a teeny tiny baby scorpion curled up on my pillow a few inches away from my face lol. not sure what species it was, idk much about scorpions but im going to assume it was a giant desert hairy because the adults i saw were rather large and yellow but its been a while so i dont remember specifics.
as fascinating as they are, i dont think i would ever keep a scorpion. i think my love of inverts is mainly centred around tarantulas xD

How often do you feed them?

Does anybody know a place (site/app) where you can share and ask questions about keeping invertebrates? There’s plenty of communities about reptiles and amphibians but haven’t really found one including insects.

I imagine that it was really hard not to laugh when you were filming the intro.😂
Edit: It's so cool how you know all of the scientific names. I have trouble remembering all of my reptiles scientific names and I only have four!

Haha it was a fun intro. Thanks for the kind words! You really have to learn the Latin names for inverts. Most don’t really even have specific common names. That or they are too similar to other species. You pick it up fast from reading the names all the time and saying them, etc :)
      Thank you for watching!

Hey I ordered a Leiurus quinquestriatus but it’s colors don’t really look one, I emailed them and they said they were confident that it was an LQ but to me it looks like a Leiurus hebraeus, could you take a look if you got time? I can send over a picture.
