Just wonderful to watch these absolutely pure players--Clemente, Brooks and Frank Roninson, Willie Stargell, et al.--squaring off in the Fall Classic. And Earl Weaver, one of the greatest and most entertaining managers . . . ah, those were the days....
Clemente, my all time favorite ballplayer. Great to see him in action. I was wondering why Stargell was almost playing left field near the warning track against Blair to start the game since Blair had no power. thanks for the video and radio of the game.
A 3-0 lead in the first inning and not one run scored after that. Boog Powell just missed a potential crippling three run homer in that first inning that would possibly put the game out of reach at 5-0 instead of 3-0. This pivotal spot in this game 4 is where the Orioles may have lost the 1971 World Series.
Three of my favorite players in the Pittsburgh outfield, Clemente, Stargell and Oliver. I remember watching every minute of this series when I was a kid. Do you have game 2 of this series that you can upload, or any of the NLCS games?
Not sure what's better: The game itself or Joe G's pre-game show :) He was the master at the pre-game show. I miss him
Now World Series games don't draw one-fourth the TV audience that this one did. As a baseball fan I find this is sad.
The reason is that there's more TV options in 2018 than there was in 1971.
