What a difference from today's game. Wow.... The external chest protector for the home plate umpire.. Short commercial breaks. Batters stay in the box and wait for the next pitch. No armor for the batters. Natural player body shapes. Gentleman announcers.. Business like and a quick tight game. No money ruining it.. Want to shorten games now, watch this..

Never missed a Buccos telecast in the glory days --- except this one. Went to classes at college that day instead. Didn't know the score until I got back to my apartment. Yesssss! Briles pitched one of the greatest (and most underrated) games in franchise history. Would I blow off school if I could do it all over again? Damn right!

Nice to see these 1971 World Series games back on CZcams. They are special to me. This was the first World Series I remember watching.

Briles falling down is hilarious! Great move by Pirates getting him with World Series experience on that staff.

He was a racist. He told then Lew Alcindor to 'Leave the country' because Lew, aka Kareem Abdul Jabbar, had the 'nerve' to say this was not his country, due to the way his people were being treated here. Joe should have took his ass back to Italy and Mussolini!

Can you upload 1968 All-star game at Houston?

sportsmedia25 Somebody had that game uploaded about two years ago until NBC sent the CZcams copyright police at that guy and had the entire broadcast deleted from his channel.

Boy, the Edward Gruber book on Sandy Koufax was right; he's pretty stiff as a TV color man! 😐

Agreed. How many superstar athletes become good commentators, though? Maybe John McEnroe.

Dario Witer Agreed. Sandy was an incredible pitcher but a very reserved and private person who found it hard to open up on TV. The great writer Robert Lipsyte coined the phrase “jockocracy” during this period as former great athletes were given analyst jobs not due to their communication skills but their achievements on the field of play. Maury Wills was another example of this strategy that didn’t work out well. Cosell used this term extensively in his book “I never played the game.”
