I remember that many of the games were played in the daytime. When playing in Baltimore I also remember hitters saying that they couldn't pick-up the ball due to there being some white buildings behind the pitcher. This was the last autumn before I got my driver's license. I was delivering my newspapers for part of some games then watching on TV when I got home. Fine, fine series.
The pre-game stuff is fantastic. I grew up watching Garagiola in the '80's, and it's great to hear Koufax. They say the curveball is an optical illusion, but what an illusion! Watch that ball move, and it's only a warm-up toss! 26:47
@28:25 Roberto Clemente Walker 21 G.O.A.T. What an athlete and all around player. Reminds me of a Puerto Rican named Obi who ran the bases, gunned the baseball and slammed the baseball all around the ballpark. Amazing heart and effort with fearless abandon. Clemente @ 37 and 38 years old he was an incredible athlete.
man his stance is out there its not the way its taught but that is why hes a legend he'll hit a home run on one foot. see the way his feet were on the home run against Palmer. freaking awesome. and he i think was 37 at this point.
People criticize Sandy Koufax for being too stiff when he did games for NBC. I think he was pretty informative though. Joe Montana was stiff when he was in the studio for I think one year. Trying to get Montana to say anything was like trying to get Tim McCarver to shut up.
Chuck Thompson will be forgiven for calling him Garrick "Yutely" on what was probably a cold read of an NBC News promo card at 56:18. It was pretty early in UTley's career, when he was hosting weekend network newscasts. Couldn't make out what the other name was to save my life, the show had been hosted by Sander Vanocur when it was known as "First Tuesday."
OK, it's "join Garrick Utely (sic) and 'watch Chronolog' this Friday night, right here on NBC." Not another name, just a closing come-on. I was an adolescent at this time, and found NBC news correspondents a wonderfully smart and rumpled collection of, generally, men.
Most African Americans are more attracted to football and basketball now. Not sure why, I know in urban areas basketball is more available and doesn’t require much equipment. JHS & HS always have football equipment and programs.

😢 Roberto Clemente life was cut short. But he accomplished alot in his short time here. rip

Palmer vs Clemente Wow. I was there for game 7. Very sad day in Baltimore.
Scoobie I remember listening that game on the radio. I think I was 7 and was very sad they lost

Sandy Koufax so well spoken

it is a shame we lost Clemente so early, but thankfully he got to show us his greatness on the national stage before he went

I liked McCarver though. Try to get Tony Romo to shut up is impossible

R.I.P. Bob Moose
Thanks for the game friend. Congrats. But it is not the 1979 game, actually is 1971. However, I could saw Roberto Clemente it was terrific
I apologize. now it's 1971 ....I did it too quickly....
Actually...it was the same two teams in 1979 and the same results !

Get a life
Stargell won two rings - both against the Orioles...
And both in game 7 , and both on the road at Baltimore
Strange enough...each World Championship the Pirates won (I guess 4...May be 5, the last in 1979), they won in game 7 each of those title
