  • Elevation Churches Employee SAID WHAT?
I'm sure you have seen the videos circulating about how Elevation Church chooses not to say words like "resurrection, blood of Jesus, and Calvary" when inviting people to church. Is this right? How did Jesus invite people to church? Is Elevation Church really announcing a "watered down Gospel"?
After all the negativity surrounding this interview: I think my response will shock you!

So I was drawn to your video out of curiosity. I've been a member of elevation church since March of 2019. I appreciate very much that you have a somewhat balanced and gracious critique and are not just putting out " hater" content. In response to your statements that Jesus was not trying to build a "congregation" ( my paraphrase) I invite you to consider this. The mission statement of elevation church is " that those who are far from God might be raised to life in Christ" I am sure that the encouragement to members to invite people to the church is not just to
" build the institution bigger" It says in Romans 10:13-15 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them?
15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” May I submit for your consideration that Pastor Steven Furtick has been "sent" by God to preach the Word to the nations and when we invite others to attend/watch we are fulfilling the great commission and it gives us opportunity to open conversations about Jesus with others and pray for them. I also want to share that as a church going believer for over 5 decades elevation church is the first church I have felt no hesitation inviting any/everyone to watch/listen because 1. Jesus is lifted up ( he said if I be lifted up, I will draw all men unto me)
    2. Pastor is relatable, but biblical 3. The words are edifying and encourage a hunger for God and a relationship with him
As a PK since my teens I've heard alot of sermons and many many many times I came away discouraged that all my best efforts to obey the Lord were not good enough. Sure, we are all sinners and need Jesus, but when was I ever thanked for paying my tithes or told I was on the right track (one example) It always felt like if you were doing something right, well, that was to be expected. Not that I have tithes to be thanked, but elevation church stands out because they not only exhort with the word of God but they edify ( encourage) Who in this day and age doesn't need encouragement!

      Hey hey!
Thank you for watching and your comment! I’m a man who has walked through much as a former pastor in multiple churches so I try to make sure I share my heart but I am not bias. I can see where these words may hit different for someone who actually attends there. It seems to me that you are exactly where you need to be! I am thankful you love your church!! I live in small town Southern Indiana and it’s hard to find a good church that you feel a similar way like you do. My encouragement would be to continue on, continue pursuing, and continue serving! You obviously attend somewhere where I can see where it may feel like there are a lot of haters. Some are I believe out of reverence for the Bible and some just are. International House Of Prayer is under a big Spotlight right now but I know the people in that congregation are some of the most sold out Christians you can be around!
Thank you for your response and Scriptures. God bless!!
