One of the ones that I saw mentioned how part of the reason it was changed was because the word OVNI was prone to ridicule and they needed to address it / be taken seriously as there were major security concerns over pilots almost hitting things flying often in USA airspace so they could no longer ignore it / also concerns about another foreign country or otherwise having superior technology and being invading their airspace often. Also, they've literally done a UAP research (that's the pentagon) and found that about 60 or 70% were debunked...meaning there were a good 30% of cases where they are actually UAP's and belong to no other country, nor behave in ways we can explain with our current understanding of physics.
