Many people started their channels from owning this car. There has been a great deal of influence in modern car culture with this car, i'm so pleased to see another person doing it. Its an amazing platform to mod, and such an awesome car to drive.
came here to say keep going with the content. wish i had this car when i was younger but we had a bunch of used 90's sportscars that were too expensive or barely running in our era. the FRS is such a great starter platform. I was running in the AE86, FC, S13, and S14 now in a GRCorolla and FRS!
Love how clean it looks with those rims and everything you’ve done to it. Good video also! Great clear recording, good information, straight to the point
ive been daily driving mine for 11 ½ years and i LOVE it. the secret? dont let anyone work on your car, do everything yourself and keep up on maintenance.
Just learn electrical or have a trusted electrician cuz my G35 is fuuucked. Now I'm in market for 86 since they seem easier to work on. Question, is there a big difference from a 33k miles and one with 73k? If not, I'd rather save 10grand. Thanks
Personally I’d go with the lower mileage one there’s alot of small weird issues you avoid with a less driven on car you never know how a car was looked after over 73k miles just less variables if you’re really interested in the 73k one make sure you get a detailed log of what maintenance has been done to the car
only 107 subscribers and 11k views. I have bought a 2016 frs salvage that I think the wheel bearing I had just replaced locked up in the rain and sent me into a guardrail after spinning around 2.5 times in the rain. then I bought a 2013 wrecked frs and brz. The frs had alot of cool mods like headers and suspension, and tailights. I had to replace the headlights and the hood because of the accident, the extra power from the headers is awesome and I love the lights and fiberglass hood. Even though the front end doesnt line up perfect (I used a fence puller to straighten the support frame (didnt remove or weld anything)). Best car I have ever owned, it was my dream car since when I first saw one in 2012. Took till 2019 for me to afford one, but love love love it. I rip 20 mph corners in the mountains of california at 50mph.
I wouldn’t say Miata although a lot of aspects of the Miata are there like being affordable and handling well and being good for track and street use due to the power and weight of a Miata and how it be harder to use as a daily and also not as easy to setup for drifting I’d say it’s in its own class in my opinion the 86/brz are more like a modern day s chassis similar power similar weight both can be used easily as daily’s as they’re not too small and both can be easily setup for track and drift
I’ve heard good things about the tomei headers haven’t heard as much about the hks ones but hks usually makes high quality stuff either option will do well
Seemed like a normal "my experience with BRZ/frs/86" vid but then you said you live in mass lmaoo.. (so do I) I'm very curious your experience daily driving in the winter ,, other cars I am considering purchasing are a challenger or Camaro, but I'm leaning towards the BRZ due to it's reliability and MPG, parents have Subarus and Toyotas and they just never die lol
Surprisingly they actually do fairly well especially for a rwd car in the winter if you do get one get a set on Bridgestone blizzaks for winter and you’ll be fine even normal all seasons will be ok in snow but best and safest bet is the blizzaks hope this helps 👍🏾
Test drove one of these today and I am very tempted to buy it... feels plenty quick enough to me🤷♂... but that may be because I don't drive a lot of fast cars.
Another benefit of these cars is that even though they’re newer cars they still feel fairly raw so you feel everything the car is doing better than in most cars which also helps make the car feel quick especially in the corners
Best thing to do is get a catback install is fairly easy can get it done in an hour or two invite a friend over and it’ll be fun for sure these cars are super easy to work on and there’s a lot of options out there for parts
It’s a pretty simple story lol I do have a job but there’s no way I could of afforded it even when I got the car when I was 17 (going on 18 at the time) car was a birthday gift from my mom since I’ve been into cars since I was a kid thanks from influence from my dad and older brother and had wanted an 86 since they where revealed back in 2012/2013 traded in a car we already had for it back in 2020 all the parts that have been bought for it has come out of my pocket off of the jobs I’ve had over the past few years
Hey I dont have much knowledge about cars i just watched a vid about 86 mods And the guy said if u put headers in U must do the flash tabley mods I didnt understand why no explanation whatsover And i heard in the vid now in ur vid that u use it aswell But i dont wanna use it i dont wanna do any thing that directly inpact the engine I wanna do modification to the car that doesnt actually touch the engine at all I am thinking headers Exhaust Tires A small wing Maybe lower it a litbe bit and make it that the wheels stick out a litle bit more
Yeah so the thing about headers is that most aftermarket ones don’t have catalytic converters and there’s a O2 sensor on the first catalytic converter so if you install aftermarket headers without a catalytic converter and run the car with no tune you’ll get a check engine light and the car won’t run as it should because it thinks that there’s something wrong with how the engine is running but the problem really is it’s not reading the same values because there is no catalytic converter in the first place open flash tablets are fairly reliable and they’re pretty easy to use I’ve had mine for well over a year now and haven’t had any issues if you want to you can also do an ecutek tune which have been known to be more reliable and run into less issues you could also buy catted headers off of ft86 speed you won’t get the performance gain from the cat delete that other headers have but if your looking just to get the Subaru uel rumble then you can go that route from what I’ve heard you shouldn’t need a tune for catted aftermarket headers I hope this helps!
If you wanna get rid of that bad torque dip I highly suggest getting it tuned along with the new headers you get but if the dip is fine with you thats perfectly ok
I think it is they’re reliable parts are cheap maintenance is easy to keep up with and they handle really well there’s not a lot of modern cars that can compete with these cars in terms of price and feel and now you can find a lot of the 2013 cars for fairly cheap i seen a 13 manual frs near me for 14k it had a lot of miles but there’s a lot of cars with less mileage that you can find at a good price
The car itself was a early 18th birthday gift from my mom since I couldn’t stop talking about getting a car I could work on since I was a kid also was super interested in the 86/brz since the concepts came out we traded in another car we had at the time for it in terms of parts that money came from the jobs I’ve worked

I got the 2017, 86 special edition. 95k miles on it and never have any issue AT ALL. Only have changed tires and brakes of course..
Good to hear glad yours has been going strong for you too!
2017 Base Model 68k miles! Still going strong! Love this car!

respect, car sounds good! this video is making me want one even though the new generation is out now
Thank you! New generation is definitely nice but 1st gen are getting super affordable if you find the right one!
You most definitely related to Jah (xxxtentacion)

What i feel summarizes this video is this platform is a modern day miata.

such a good looking car
Thank you 😁
how many miles on it now bro? i want to buy one but i would have to daily drive it so im just curious how its holding up still? thanks!
Still holding up great! Currently sitting at around 44k miles
These cars are underrated when it comes to reliability. I’ve had my brz for a year now with zero problems
@@PierreMetro Same. I have a 2020 BRZ and still zero issues.

bro sounds like you got a bad wheel bearing. Love the content tho. I'm surprised no one has pointed out in the comments
if you're talking about the whining noise while I'm driving its from the tires
no chriping sound at the engine ?
This is a natural thing that most brz 86 and frs do the noise comes form the fuel pump
