Hakone it's a mountain road with too many curves in Japan, so i guess it's pretty obvious that the 86 was designed for that type of roads.

I daily this and I can’t agree with most points. Re: the doors yeah but that’s a coupe problem not an 86 problem. Feeling like this was a tad biased.

Judging a car's value from the perspective of living in a congested California city? Even eating toast in a congested California city is a rotten proposition.

Your problem is being in love with driving while living in a metropolitan area. You're just not going to ever be happy driving there.

I have one in LA. And none of these points really hit me except the doors.. I daily mine and traffic sucks. But traffic sucks in any car..

I'm mid '50s and daily driven one of these for 5 years. It's such fun and even in the urban situation it makes the commute more enjoyable. I even look forward to getting stopped at lights and navigating roundabouts. Best thing though, when you take it on a road trip: the seats are so comfortable you can be in there all day and get no backaches; it will cruise all day on the German highways at 100mph+ and very stable; great fun in the mountains and on the last trip there was space with the seats folded for 2 people's luggage and six 12 bottle cases of wine (try doing that in an MX-5/Miata). Such fun, such versatility.

Owned a 2013 86 for the past 4 years. 140k km on the clock. No one talks about how reliable it is. I live in Dubai with extremely hot weather and the car has had no issues thus far.

I felt a lot of the same things with this car. However, the car is a driving clinic. After a month or so the car changed the way I drove. Come to find out this car does a great job of making you a faster drive and later it was easy to add torque and power to this great chassis and I was left with what was a very good car for not much at all. I would love to let you drive mine. I have a new Supra and I love it but that little 2014 FR-S with its few mods does some things the Supra still can’t.

Dailying my frs is the best part of my commute. I’m 6”0 and I’m more comfortable in my tiny frs than my moms Accord. The seats also have way more lumbar and bolster support which helps me stay comfy in the car for a long time. It’s slow, but I’m not racing any one on the highway anyway

I have a 2019 Toyota 86 as my daily. It's a very enjoyable daily, though I live in a Canadian city with practically zero traffic congestion to get stuck into. During the icy Canadian winter... it "accidentally" goes sideways with so much ease, and such amazing control while it's happening! Every other car I've had feels like they've had less turning control on ice going normally, than the 86 does sliding it's rear out! It's just an amazing car! But yeah... if you're not somewhere with curvy roads, dirt roads, or ice, then it won't be as easy to do (or acceptable to police) a lot of what makes the car so much fun.

I had a 2013 frs. Someone totaled it from a rear ending. I had the money ti get anything within 60k at the time, and i still ended up going back to a 86. The car is just fucking fantastic
