I get asked this many times: "Why did you sell your Golf R and buy a GT86" - sometimes words cannot describe how you feel about something. The GT86 is a truly special machine and one which you HAVE to experience.
Join my in today's video when I run through some details you ought to know if you are going to buy a used GT86.

it's my birthday in 3 days. been saving up for 2 years. finally have enough money to buy it. my excitement is thru the roof!
Michael Benson how is she? Is it manual?
Happy belated birthday
Happy belated. How is it? Auto or manual?
@Chris I did get it! Its a manual 2017 black BRZ. Already have a nameless catback and fortune auto coilovers. the car is like a drug I love it and it makes me so happy
@@sentinelprimegroup sorry for the late reply! I finnaly bought the car a little over a month ago due to previous deals falling through. I finnaly own my own 2017 manual BRZ and have a aftermarket catback exhaust and coilovers. the car is everything I thought it would be and more. it's honestly changed my life and I look forward to driving it every single day. if you're in the market for one just buy it. you won't regret it
I've been incredibly interested in these for years but never been in a position to be able to afford one:( I started an apprenticeship at a Mercedes dealership last year and I have had the opportunity to drive and work on many posh Mercedes cars. Seeing videos like this makes me want to test drive and experience this 86 one day to fuel my passion for cars. I was fortunate enough to see an 80s Trueno 86 at the academy a few months back. Damn I love these things!!! Great video man
Update : 2 years later and coming to the end of my apprenticeship I have finally bought a GT86!
Dream car acquired
I've waited since 2012 to be able to afford one and I think I might be able to this year cant wait to experience it myself 👍
Alan shouldve worked at a toyota dealership and maybe get discount 😂
what model did you get? 2013?
@@dielog2211 hi I’ve had my 2012 BRZ for almost 2 years now
After 2 years, what tires do you suggest that should be used for a normal daily driving and for winter
I have been saving for 3 years and been driving my mom old daihatsu. Now i can finally buy one.
Good man, congratulations. I'm sure you'll love it.
Great insight ....... I currently drive a 2014 Scirocco Gt 210, I've had it 3 years and loved it but I'm seriously considering getting a gt86, such nice looking cars .. I'm a young 52 year old 😁
Thank you sir. How are you finding the Scirocco? I've always been a fan of them.
The GT86 will be very different but I'm sure you'll enjoy it
@@JustTheDriven Yeah the scirocco has been a great car, it's only covered 18000 miles.
I'm just waiting till life gets back to normal so I can get out to look/test drive a gt86 .....
To be honest if I don't buy a gt86 I'll go for a 18 plate Scirocco r dsg ...
Great review video.
It's a great car indeed. I love it so much, it's a driver's car.
Great video, very informative. I just sold my m140i (too many getting stolen in the west midlands) and the 86 / brz is definatley my next car.
Could you tell me the difference those wider wheels have had on the car? They definatley look better but does it make it less drifty?
Thank you sir. The wider wheels made a huge difference if I'm honest, the stock tyres aren't too great (mostly Prius spec). The PS4 I put on really helped the car grip, it was playful when you wanted it to be however it was much more predictable
Great vid mate
Thank you sir
3:18 "the biggest wing".
BRZ Ts: Hold my beer.
Very good point sir!
I’ve been a fan of this car from day one and have driven about 6 now. I’m eager to buy one this year or next year at the latest. Only slight issue I have is my current car. I own a 2017 BMW 420d M Sport which is a great car but I recognise that I’d be downgrading in terms of interior quality and technology (The iDrive system to a more basic Toyota Touch 2 system) My own fault really but the GT86 is such a good looking car, like the induction sound going through the revs and it’s a blast to drive. I’m aiming for a 2017 facelift model for about €30,000 (Ireland)
Great cars mate.
I'd consider another one myself but it would need to be forced induction after what I've been driving over the last few years
@@JustTheDriven fair point. When your used to driving cars with over 200 bhp you’d naturally want more out of the GT86. I have driven much faster cars but even so I love the GT86 in its standard form, it’s great fun. I’d be using it as a daily, my place of work is only a 15 minute commute.
That window tho' 😂
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeek
It is especially when it is almost new.
Like 50 000 km or untill 80 000 km.
I know a friend who bought one with 200 000 km and the brakes were awful.
He almost got in an accident.
He told me about it and i bought one but only with 35 000 km.
So yeah.
Hope i helped someone who wants a second hand gt86.
Nice insight there. Did your friend get the brakes sorted in the end?
@@JustTheDriven Yes he did.
Sounds like more of a problem with the maintenance on his car than the car itself. No reason a car with that kind of mileage couldn't have brakes as good as when it was new.
Great history and driving impressions but nothing to do with the title.
You got white line bushings in?
Nope, bushing and suspension barring the springs are stock
Is it comfortable to drive in long runs? i am 6'2
I'm 6'2 also, it's comfortable as a sports car can be, even with the lowered springs it was a little crashier than stock but not unbearable by any means
So yours is a used too? I bought mine in September 2019, it's from 2017. It's a GT version with auto.
Yes mine is used. How do you like yours?
@@JustTheDriven I like it a lot, apart from the tyres. Those will be swapped for more grippy ones. I wanted a GT86 for a long time, but couldn't find a suitable one, regarding age, mileage and all round condition of the car. I first tested a black '15 GT86 with low mileage and full options. After my extensive testdrive, a burnt oil smell came from the exhaust. So that was a big NO. 😮
Last summer I came across two '17 cars, one black in basic trim and the grey one with all goodies fitted. I took both for a long ride, resulting in the grey one being my daily driver. The car makes me smile, every time I drive it. 🙂
ThunderBassist Jay could you be a little more specific about the first one and why you didn’t pick it up
@@lilnips It clearly burnt engine oil, probably a lot. 😬
ThunderBassist Jay ive been saving up for one, and maybe after the lockdown I’d see if I can pick a used one up, anything you’d share on my first buy?
Is it fuel efficient? Thanks
Depends on how you drive it mate. My motorway mileage was approx 36mpg, around town 25mpg
like and subscribe amongst others thanks to that amazing accent ;)
Haha thank you! Are you local or just a fan of the accent? 🤣
@@JustTheDriven nah I'm from central europe but spent some tine in manny
Need to spray a bit of silicone spray or wd-40 in that window buddy 😁
I agree! It did annoy me a little!
6 december 2026 is the day im gonna drive this car
I feel your pain im 2024
Go for it. You won't regret it.
Mate all I heard again was gt86 lol need to use that saying less 😂
I just can't help it 🥺
JJB 😂😂 fair enough lol
02:06 He thinks that cars breath from the exhaust.
What's embarrassing is that you don't
Inhales through the intake system, exhales through the exhaust
@@Chiz1992 Touché
@@krzysztofkwietniewski9100 still part of the breathing process, kinda
Chuck an Asthma pump on and a 3" cat back that'll help it breathe from the exhaust haha
Was looking for information regarding common problems, wear and tear etc. as you would when looking at used cars. Not useful
