What kind of help? They don't want a place to live? or they don't want a program, with so many rules that noone wants to live by. $25000/yr per homeless person. Yet no homes, just program fees, $1000-$1500/mo per person, 3-4 per room, strict rules, doesn't work, then just revolve back around to the program again. And it keeps going, and the $ keeps coming, again and again, and the homeless never got a home to live in, just a program. More housing, more homes, affordable, means less rent for people that make $ off of poor people paying them. Paying all they have, people that work hard everyday, to provide the comforts to people who don't work very hard. They work very crafty though. Not many would be willing to have more affordable housing, homes, apartments, etc. if it meant they couldn't charge the obscene amount rents they they are accustomed to. They just wouldn't trade it, they aren't going to be happy getting only $1000/ mo instead of $2000/ mo. Even if it is still profitable and they always still have the equity of the place. But see that only works if you want to sell your house and move into another house to live in. Then the $ doesn't really matter, because of the market rise and fall the same, they still sell their house and move into a comparable home, whether they sell for $250k and buy for 250k, or $500k and buy $500k. But when you want to make $, not a place for you to live, then it matters. If I want to make money off it, I don't want more supply of houses for people,ni want a shortage, I want hi demand more money, f### the poor and homeless, I want $. It's a terrible thing I have to raise the rent so much, no actually you love it. You love when there are 10 poor families that need a place to live, and you can raise it to the highest level, makebas much as you can, while they are busting their a$$ everyday to for your packages, and conveniences life. All the work is done by poor. The bs is done by the wealthy. Whose jobs are generally to collect all the $ the hard everyday workers earn. Right back to the owners who make the profits. When my husband had a sudden accident 2 years ago and is now paralysed and has stage 4 heart failure we lost everything. Home, business, belongings. We have a 10 and 8 year old. We ended up homeless and in father joes shelter. After 3 months we were incorrectly housed into an updtairs unit that my husband couldn't access. Back at the shelter we learned my son caught COVID and the shelter staff locked us out while at the dt refused to allow me to collect my belongings. We then lived in our van and the kids at my mother in laws (she lived up a flight of stairs) for a week. We were able to go to a hotel then we're accepted into salvation army for if hope.
One month in and the sprinkler broke and flooded the unit ruining the last of anything we owed. The clothes we had just replaced and got for back to school we caught in fire when the staff at door of hope attempts to dry them without washing. The soaked clothes, shoes, stuffed animals, blankets were to heavy and the whole laundry room caught fire. We were fast asleep and learned of the fire in the morning.
Salvation army refused to replace saying they had no insurance.
Fast fwd we are 6months into our inner year stay and i learn the the case manager had me as inactive for the housing referral program the entire time. After filling a grievance the director and the head director assured me they fixed my program. Only to find out i was inactive 4 more times over the last 6; months. I've contacted directors, other homeless agencies, hiding authority, housing commission, mayor, city counsel, Dept of Justice, health and human services, lawyers, health care workers, news featured us , i have some to regional task force, went to homeless conferences, mayors luncheons. Connected osbudsmen, just to be told that "yes they can see all the mistakes, they agree ive been treated wrong, discriminated on, and they can't help me they will pray for me though".
No one can tell me who's to be held accountable for the mistakes.
No one will help correct the mistake.
I was evicted from salvation army. They outright refused to give my children the Christmas gifts from the angel tree . They refused me case management for 6 months during the eviction. But also refused to remove themselves so i could be case managed elsewhere
They never provided a single resource. I lost 4 referrals in that year because they kept returning my mail to sender. Then they would say " sorry human error"
Im currently in a hotel unaware if what my next move is because the new case manger who btw is wonderful, can't get the ces/rtfoh to let the grudge go and house my family. I am the longest standing family in the ces program. I have homeless, children, disabled, medicaly terminal 24 hour care dependent husband but somehow rtfoh. Doesn't consider my family high priority. And won't allow my case manager to house me in an open available unit that they currently have available.
The charities/churches are held to no accountability, they don't have to follow ada, they don't have to share my account notes with the other homeless agencies. They don't care where u go or offer any type of resources. I have emails, texts, videos, screenshots of missed referrals, witnesses responses from every entity i listed to prove everything i say.
I have never been on any public assistance until my husband injury. My kids are watching their father die all while losing their toys, their home, their stability and will have to eventually deal with the passing of their father. God forbid i don't find a way I'll end up outside and cps with take my kids my husband will have to go to nursing and I'll be jailed for not sheltering even though the shelter kicked us out.i don't use drugs, i was not a prostitute I'm not trans i don't have aids I'm a us citizen. Who paid taxes 28 years. However I'm not a high enough priority to be blessed with an affordable housing unit I'm my home town. No one is held accountable. They do what every they want and suffer no reprecussions. They need to audit case managers, open a 3rd party company/concern line, make them account for the donations and government grants, make clients review the experience. Require transparency. This is horrible!! Sad!! And with all the money they have received in the last 2 years, they could have bought every single family a 3 befroom home... Billions of dollars and thousands of people yet it's only getting worse!?!? Make it make scene.

In college, I wrote a report about homelessness in the US and focused my attention on NYC and LA. It was not shocking to find that the NY state comptroller found that millions of homeless funds were used for government worker parties and what the NY Post called a "booze cruise." LA also raises taxes each year for projects, one for homelessness of course (to look like good samaritans). It should be logical to notice that higher taxes/more homeless funding is not leading to less homelessness, in fact, LA and NYC have more homeless than ever before. And why? Because tax dollars DON'T GO WHERE THEY'RE SUPPOSED TO.
