    To: Auckland (AKL)

    Flight Path:
Our journey today begins at the domestic terminal at Sydney Airport with an airside shuttle bus to the international terminal. Once we arrive at the international terminal we head to the departure lounge to await boarding of our flight. When boarding's called, we walk to the gate and board the aircraft, taking out seat in seat 25F.
It's soon time for pushback and make our lengthy taxi to runway 34R where we make a powerful takeoff to the north, followed by a sharp right turn before we get to the airport fence to take us on track towards New Zealand.
We climb to our cruising altitude of 37,000ft as we commence our trip across the Tasman Sea. Breakfast is served and we enjoy a clear ride on a relatively smooth day, until we get closer to New Zealand and encounter some turbulence, where we climb to 38,000ft. We commence our descent into Auckland getting a great view of the Manukau Heads on final approach to runway 05 where we make a smooth touchdown right on schedule.
We taxi to the international terminal and disembark into the terminal at Auckland.

Greetings from Toronto Canada. Several years ago I was on a fully loaded Qantas 747 flight from LAX to AUK and the flight was diverted to Fiji due to bad weather in New Zealand. We later took off from Fiji heading to Auckland and we were diverted a second time but this time to SYD due to bad weather once again in Auckland. I was on that plane for 22 hours between getting on in Los Angeles and getting off in Sydney since we weren’t allowed to deplane in Fiji since they weren’t expecting us. I’m just a poor schmuck who always travels economy but I was fortunate to have been upgraded to first class so I really didn’t want to get off. I got to Auckland the next day. A truly memorable flight.

Looks like you encountered some pretty rough turbulence on this Flight.. One of the main reasons I use to hate Flying, but when I started flying Weekly from London to Dublin and back every week I learnt to get over it and am now pretty easy going with it.. None the less another great Vid, look forward to seeing more :)

Welcome to Australia! 🌏 Is it nice there? I know there's lots of deserts and regional airports out there.
    Summer route suggestions:
-Go to South America, to the big cities, like Bogota, Lima, Santiago, Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Manaus to visit the Amazon River!
-Take a visit to the Canary Islands, maybe to Boa Vista.
-And did you hear about Southwest #1380? It's sad to hear that one person died and some injured :(

I’ve spent years working around the world, mostly in SE Asia which is smack bang in the ITCZ. Hundred of flights and the AKL-SYD is the one I’ve always had the worst turbulence in. Maybe because of the prevalence of lots of cumulus clouds, or the sudden landmass appearing after long distances of ocean

If they used a Dreamliner the turbulence wouldn't have been as bad for the unfortunate travellers.
Plenty of nervous travellers as the angst can be seen by the expression on the young lady's face.

the map in the corner of the screen, is that your map or from the flight. if your map what is the app called and can i access it in the UK

    • @noelphilips
      @noelphilips  Před 6 lety

My map - so the data is from FlightRadar24, I import the GPX into CloudAhoy, record the flight map and then import the video and GPX file into DashWare where I create the gauges and create the final video, that's then added onto the full flight video.

I don't know about you guys, but flights like these always scare me. I've been an avid traveler since 2007 or so, and every time I travel overseas I hate the thought of possibly looking out the window and seeing nothing but open water for 4+ hours.

I used to be the same but since Flying across the Atlantic and back on a 737 it really shows you the legs these small planes have!

Have you ever done LAX-Sydney on the 777? That's a haul and all of it is over the water. I'd need to find someway to NOT panic. Lol.

Even across the Pacific you have lots of small Islands with long runways for emergency landings. You won't get lost. Mind my word after you have arrived safely.

Plane safety has come so far in the last 10 years , The odds are so slim landing on water.. Pilots are training everyday & planes are now safer than ever before . However I defiantly agree with what your saying though.
