And there lies a hidden gem (for me, anyway). I was unaware of I-280 till now. Of course, it's been 30 + years since I was even close to SF.

Hopefully you can make it out this way sometime! You'll enjoy the journey to the Bay as much as the Bay itself.

Since FWJ clinched I-280 CA heading south back in 2019, you clinched the north in this year. It's mostly nature in there and like I said, between SJ and SF and vice versa, it's better than US 101/Bayshore Freeway.

The repaving of the road definitely helped with road noise. As of today, the speed limits back to 65. Also, have you noticed everyone on the left lane seems to be going atleast 85?

Yes, I believe the construction speed limit lingered when I visited. I have no problem with people going fast on the inside lanes, that is actually how it should be, hence why I was hugging the outside lane most of the time.

It is a good one for sure. Hopefully you can make it up to NorCal, would be cool to see your take on it along with a few other scenic rides.

Great video mate! The Bay Area well and truly is automotive nirvana. Some of the best expressways in the world I reckon 👍

I definitely overlooked the Bay Area before, having lived there for my childhood. Los Angeles get most of the attention in terms of urban freeways, but the Bay Area has a balance of urban and scenic. Traffic problems plague both regions though! Thanks for watching!

@@rockersk08 Agreed, I like the Bay Area more than LA; it just seems like a nicer place to live than the endless sprawl that is LA.

Advice welcome. Motorcycle purchase planned in Sunnyvale. Returning to North Bay, Petaluma. Purchase will be on a Saturday. Motorcycle's a 650 parallel twin, 46 hp. (mediocre power)
Is my 'safest' route back .. -- I-280/19th Ave./Golden Gate Bridge? Absent South Bay 20+ yrs. At that time, I-280 traffic volume markedly less than The 101, or, I-880.

I believe that is a safe bet. You also avoid the duplex Eastshore Freeway and a second bridge crossing (toll aside). Going through SF on 19th Avenue is probably easier on a motorcycle with lane splitting if traffic picks up.
