I also own the 77 trans am unfortunately I lived in California so I got the big turdmobile a whopping 180 horsepower automatic the engine came from the Bonneville this thing was a piece of s*** I had failures on the way home from Larry Hopkins Pontiac and Sunnyvale if you are smart enough and lucky enough to find a trans am that was not built in California because of all the smog b******* then you're way ahead of the game get an out of state trans am with the actual 400 Pontiac was not available in California Burt Reynolds car was the s*** bag if you saw the interior you see that he's got an automatic transmission he had the 6.6 not the 400 the 6.6 again is the Bonneville motor with s*** horsepower but of course you can hear Burt Reynolds shifting through the gears God bless Hollywood
