I love how calm the elderly couple is, just cracking jokes while at gunpoint
They've basically won at that point. Dying old is a privilege in this universe. So be threatened by a fairly painless death at this point is probably not even in the top 100 worst case scenarios for them.
@@LordNinja109 this yep.. Also grahme green is a Canadian treasure he's so good in everything he does even cold case files
We must protect them at all cost
@@kittycatcat6962 I remember him from the classic thunder heart movie from back in the day. I'd recognize him anywhere 👍🏿😎
@@SithLordNefaar022 thunder heart with val Kilmer... That's a movie right there 👌
"you tell him the truth?"
"yah"
"...you tellin me the truth?"
"........yah...."
I know panic attacks are serious but I was actually scared he was having a heart attack. Physical health problems are not something you wanna have in an apocalypse. At the very least, he has someone he can count on to support him through these times: Ellie. 🖤
Me too
That's what I was saying. Starter of a heart attack. Stress is a silent killer.
yes i had mild ones as a younger kid -thought it was normal then at 50 a full blown one -- terrible was able to get meds that helped lots .. but life beating on you is a struggle
Turns out you don't want them in a pandemic either. Plenty of people kept from seeing their doctors.
Same 😅
Not gonna lie, when Joel told Ellie to shut up when he had a heart attack, I giggled 😂😂
The fact that he gets annoyed by her so easily is hilarious
Panic attack...not heart attack.
Panic attack
Kids are annoying
Even TLOU has a better depiction of panic attacks than Velma
I mean literally anything has a better depiction of panic attacks than Velma, but yeah this one's pretty decent
To be fair why wouldn’t a serious drama have a more accurate panic attack than a cartoon
@@througheverything animated shows and films also have serious depictions of panic attacks. Ex. Puss in boots 2
@@lumossk3657 even puss in boots the last wish when puss have a panic attack his friend comfort him let him relax and calm
This is actually quite an accurate depiction of a panic attack. Some of them have very physical symptoms.
I can't get over the depth of emotion in Pedro Pascal's eyes...he says so much without words
REAL
Any other rdr2 fans know that voice as rains falls like immediately 😂
Now that you mentioned it, It clicks, never realised
Yep. I very much know it. I don't know if it's just me but his Voice matches Rains Fall's face a little more than the Actor himself.
Dude's voice is Legendary
Thank God I wasn't going insane
"I had a brother, I'm looking for him... I also had a daughter... she died a lon-"
"EXCuse me I gotta pick some ginseng!"
I like the theory that this old couple knew exactly what the town Jackson was, but maybe not who ran it. They told anyone who came asking to stay away from the area for their own good- which was true from a certain point of view- in exchange for supplies. Them not knowing who the Fireflies are has zero impact on this.
Huh?
@@LaymanGamin I think he means that the leaders of Jackson bribed the old couple to dissuade any travelers from seeking out the settlement. The couple doesn't know that one of those leaders is Joel's brother.
2 good native American actors -- she played on Northern Exposure
Marilyn Whirlwind!
And he played one of the death row inmates in the green mile.
As someone who has random panic attacks, the worst feeling isn't that you're about to die. The worst feeling is that your entire conciousness is getting disconnected from the real world. It's indescribable to those who never got it, but the closest related thing would be as if everything isn't real and you need to wake up from a dream that isn't there. It's such a frightening and debilitating feeling that it stops me dead in my tracks. The way it's pictured here resembles quite well how it starts before it gets worse.
and the elephant on your chest, the not being able to breathe, feeling trapped with no hope of escape and nobody can help you.
I wish no one should go through this feeling
This is pretty accurate. I remember being in a spirit halloween years ago, and for some reason I wasbhaving really bad thoughts, and then the faces on the masks and the ghouls and stuff (none of which bother me) must have triggered me, because my brain went into fight or flight mode, and I felt like I had to get out of there but could barely move. It was like information overload, intense situational confusion, like my brain was telling me I was being attacked even though nothing was wrong. Horrible feeling.
I was in a school shooting once, I ran into this interior classroom and opened a door to a connecting class to tell them there was a shooting but I couldn’t get any words out of my mouth I just kinda made sounds at them and then closed the door. Like my brain just shut down
I experienced basically the same thing when watching Cabin In the Woods many years back. I was already generally anxious and stressed about my life situation at that point, but for some strange instinctual reason, it only went into a full blown panic attack when I saw the monsters in that movie.
I would love to see the bloopers for this scene in particular 😂 I bet they’re even funnier.
"Joel? Who cares what happens to you, you're not in the next season!" 😅
I feel like Joel’s panic attack is a nod to the original concept of The Last Of Us where Joel was originally gonna be a cop with a heart condition.
Lol that's a terrible theory

Aw! So nice to see Graham Greene and Elaine Miles! Loved Graham Greene in Last of the Mohicans and Maverick (the Mel Gibson movie, not the Top Gun movie, lol), and I remember Elaine Miles from Northern Exposure. Her voice hasn't changed at all!
Graham Greene played Marilyn's cousin Leonard
Quinhagak on Northern Exposure.
Graham wasn’t in last of the Mohicans. You might be thinking of Dances with Wolves. He was also in green Mile
Elaine is awesome! Spoke with her once, she's hilarious, kind and down-to-earth
Came here for the Northern Exposure reference. This episode aired while my mother was receiving chemo treatments and we would watch it together when she rested. She's a big Northern Exposure fan so this was spot on for her.
If you gotta map why you lost 🤣🤣🤣 good logic
Ellie had such an optimistic voice saying all they had to do was to cross the river of death 😂
Excellent depiction of a “cold air, all of the sudden” attack.
You can hear Pedro laugh at 1:36 and see his body/arms move when he chuckles
thats the womans laugh, but it seems like he cracked up too and they muted his voice.
@@MoneyyyOG na you can definitely hear his real voice doing a laugh.
@@MoneyyyOGyou can hear his laugh before the lady.
That's the woman
@@fionnleamy844 no it’s not just her. Listen again you can hear two laughs/cuddles one is hers and the others is Pedro’s you can even see his body/arms move when he does it.
I was like babe he’s having a panic attack
Brings back funny memories of watching Northern exposure and dances with wolves. Great scene.
Graham Green should have won that Oscar for his role as Kicking Bird, on ‘Dances With Wolves’. He is a very talented actor. Pedro Pascal 👍👍👏👏❣️
Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but the way the old couple seems to enjoy Ellie so much makes me think she reminds them of their own child. That, or it had just been a really long time since they'd seen a kid
idk why but ellie just taking a rabbit with her is killing me
If you close your eyes you can hear Rains Fall from Red Dead Redemption 2.
That's because it's him
2:38 😂😂😂😂 i love this lady
Rains Falls 🔥
Reminds me of my native grandma and grandpa
Same!
“There are firefly people?”
I love the old lady in this scene
Aha a lung problem in cold air is a "panic attack" mhm. Perfectly diagnosed :D
Man that Part 2 music when they left the Cabin. Had that PS4 Dynamic Theme for a while
I hope that old couple who survive the show they’ve more than earned it
I’m surprised no one’s pointed this out, but it’s interesting how the sound moves in and out of fading/echoey during Joel’s panic attack. It adds another layer on top of the visual techniques used in the scene and makes it feel much more accurate.
I cant not picture him as Mando
Fun fact: The old man is Rains Fall from Red Dead Redemption 2
Yes, “the river of death” 💀💀
How could they know what is going on in Laramie, since they mention Cody I assume this is taking part in the northern part of Wyoming and Laramie is way to the south by Colorado
The trailer for the scene of the old lady saying "Scared him" sounded like they edited it making it like she said "scared you", speaking to Ellie.
Joel's Lucky Edgar didn't blow them all up😂
Joel in the show is a different person than Joel in the game, but it's a much more realistic take on the character. I like how they depicted his PTSD and how utterly debilitating a sudden panic attack can be, literally makes you feel like you're dying.
Joel are you okay? *-SHUT UP…* -Are you dying???
God I love Graham Greene
All I hear is rains fall from RDR2 😂😭
Kinda
I had the exact same thing!
@@eliteduels "Kinda" ? My brother in Christ, they are literally the same actor
That's so racist I'm reporting you

The husband is the same guy who plays Rain Falls from RDR2!
Oh, I remember her from Northern Exposure.
Graham Greene plays a good roll on reservation dogs and rdr2!
What episode of “Northern Exposure” is this? lol
There are firefly people 😂
Only thing I don’t like is they say it’s 3 months after the last episode.
That’s a HELL of a gap in the story. Joel and Ellie together all that time and we don’t see any of it.
Also in 3 months they could have marched from Kansas to Utah and back again a few times. 😆
Yeah in a time where there's no zombies, bandits, road blockages, over grown roads, etc.
was that a panic attack? cause I have those more often than the other panic attacks ive had...
I know it’s a bit off topic but you can see from this why Jedi are anti attachment, because in a way they are in fact a weakness …
I think Lucas really doesn't understand the concept of the bonds between a master and apprentice and assumes attachment is a weakness
I really liked this scene.
Dang, Rainsfall met ellie. RDR2 meets Tlou
I get it I’m an older sister I would die if my little sister died I’d die
I still can't believe thats Rain Falls from RDR2
The great Graham Greene!!!❤😂👏
When Netflix cancelled the Gorillaz movie: *Panic attack scene*
Same netflix was such a joke
2:37--2:46 lol
That husband must be some hunter.
Yeah and whatever he hunts his wife must eat most of it 😬
The guy sounds like he voices rains fall from rdr2 when he says “who’s this little psycho” tell me if I’m wrong
MY MAN IN THE CABINS A FELLA FROMT HE RED GREEN SHOW
set some dynamite my man
Ladies and gentlemen I present to you rains fall from rdr 2
Can anyone tell me why he's having this weird cold air feeling? please I'm desperate to know.
The reason for that one is because his feelings as a father to Ellie is growing... he is afraid that Ellie will end up like her daughter. That is also the reason why he wants Tommy to deliver her to the fireflies instead of him, to detached that feeling.
Panic attacks. The last time he was a father his daughter died in his arms. Hes starting to feel like a dad again, its digging up past trauma
It's a panic attack. The last time he was this attached to someone was with his daughter and she literally died in his arms, so it's bringing up a lot of traumatic memories for him.
Thank you guys I appreciate it! 👍
In the game there’s evidence that he was taking anxiety medicine… losing his daughter, not being able to find his brother, taking care of Ellie as she resembles his daughter and not having anxiety medicine is taking a toll on him
they funny asf
The old man was rains falls in rdr2 I can’t remember his name but I recognized the voice right away
Rainsfalls!
And a meme was born.
So that's the meme scene
i only hear mando voice
Same he made his voice deeper here like in the mandalorian
That's Arlen Bitterbuck
doesn’t look like a panic attack. looks like he’s having old age or heart problem symptoms rather
Howah LoL non natives don't know that slang i laughed when i heard that
Fr😂
That’s rainsfall from red dead 2
Lol
OH MIII GOOODDD IM ABOOUTTAA PANICCCK
Marilyn Whirlwind!
I know! I could tell be the voice!
🤣🤭why shouldn't they? ☝️In real life?he's already toast.👍😎
Funny 😄
What's funny?
Why was he having a panic attack?
They wanted to make Joel appear weak in this show vs in the game where he's staying stoic and strong the whole time and only losing it when he came face to face with the fact that he might lose a daughter all over again.
Because he is human and feels enormous fear when he realizes that Ellie's life and his own are in real danger.
@@ErickKazzoie_2006 The game did it better. We did not constantly see Joel looking weak like this
@@Excalibur01 I agree, it did it better, but the show is good.
@@ErickKazzoie_2006 The show is not bad but it's the little things that changed and added that makes it a bit off

Ellie isn't this selfish in the game.

This did NOT happen in the game. He was NOT one step away from losing it.
They didn't meet two old people in the middle of nowhere warning them about a river of death ether, it's an adaptation.
@@sapermader2198 people have no idea what adapt actually means
and that is a problem why?
@@Excalibur01 well your included apparently
It's an adaptation of the source material, Joel having PTSD and panic attacks about losing another daughter is pretty faithful to the game, they are just framing it in a different way
Joel had no panic attacks in the game… they had to make him weak and soft because god in heaven we are not allowed to have strong male characters anymore
Since when does having panic attacks make someone weak????
Are you an omega male? It's ok to admit it. 😂 You need a big and strong alpha to calm you down.
The end of the game was essentially one big panic attack. Joel has always canonically had anxiety and PSTD. What are you on about?
Having a mental health condition you didn't choose, makes you weak? 😅
Joel literally took meds for anxiety even before the outbreak in the game 💀 if anything the series just shows more realistically what happens when you have mental health issues unmedicated in the apocalypse
"you made um soup?"
