- During TLOU Part 1 Joel and Ellie are trying to find the fireflies, a group of scientists trying to find a cure. Unfortunately, it's one dead end after another. Joel and Ellie run into trouble when a group of cannibals try to kill them. During the fight Joel gets badly wounded but Joel and Ellie luckily escape. Ellie hides Joel in a house nearby to search for something that can save Joels life in this desperate moment where Joel almost dies by a stab wound, getting impaled by a metal bar.

Honestly I do get why the show didn't include the rebar there's literally a very low chance anyone would survive that without a hospital. Between The internal bleeding and high chance of sepsis after piercing a intestine. There's no way. But also when has a show been that realistic
I think games can push that unrealistic boundary a little further than TV. I guess people who never played the game before and only now seeing it's story through television, most viewers would not believe it at all.
It could also have been laziness or time restraints, skipping the whole university fight and impalement with a simple knife wound and horse ride probably save them weeks of effort and filming.
Doesn't really make it bad that the game does this, you're kinda supposed to suspend your disbelief, and while very low its not entirely impossible to survive a rebar, people in real life have survived getting shot in the head or any wounds that would just be difficult to survive

Ellie's attitude is what make's her Ellie.
I think Ellie did an excellent job taking care of Joel at that time, even in cold weather.

Even though this is a game, and although Joel probably would not survive without surgery or proper medical attention, the only thing that shows how superhuman the guy can be motivated, except even he has limitations just like a powerful man with control over the world
yeah that 0.1% survival rate made it possible to pull this off off. Having something this dramatic simply adds more and more layers of emotional and memorable moments, even if it is far fetched.
Hugh Glass survive a bear attack and manage to make it back

I agree the wound was too severe to survive, but having a 0.1% survival rate made it possible to go with.
I guess they made it that serious of an injury to simply add tension for the player. if it was a knife wound it wouldn't be memorable at all, but how can you forget a pipe through the stomach and 10 minute gameplay segment of escaping the university with Joel flashing in an out of consciousness.
We could say the same thing about Rick Grimes. He fell on rebar in The Walking Dead, and yet he managed to survive despite blood loss it was an indomitable will leave. He’s the captain going and told Jade is you know called the Civic Republic helicopter to rescue her and him and when they reach the hospital they were able to save him but then again, if you saw the spinoff, she would know these guys have a lot of shit.
It's called make believe. We learn about it at 5.
Honestly I like the game way better
I like any game better than the TV show/ movie adaptation. Halo, Tomb Raider, The Witcher, Resident Evil, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat are all better in game version in my opinion.
The only one that I think is better on TV is - Arcane, but that is so different to the game you really wouldn't know they are the same thing.
Anyone who likes the show better has some serious issues.
Where does the scene with Ellie taping and stitching up the wound occur in the game? I haven't seen that before. Are they deleted cutscenes?
They are part of the Left Behind DLC where she gets flackback moments. I ordered them in chronological order to make it as a full story.

Everyone talking about how unrealistic Joel's injury is, but can we talk about the unrealism of the helicopter CLEARLY MARKED WITH MEDEVAC? It's one thing to be lucky enough to stumble upon such a helicopter, but there is absolutely zero chance of it not being raided already in this world. Don't get me wrong. I loved the game, but the show is doing much better. My only complaint about the show is the time restraints. The team behind the show could've done marvels if given 20 episodes to tell this story.

They used an entire episode to show why Ellie chose to not leave Joel when he asks her to leave( not present in the game ) and linked it to Riley which didn’t quite hit the spot for me.
@@meatbeater159 You mean they used an entire episode to highlight a key piece of story that was missing in the game that they made an entire DLC for it? Yes. Yes they did. The story of Riley is super important. It always has been. Hence why the episode is called "Left Behind"... You know... The same name as the DLC...
Most new viewers don't realise that games are made more unrealistic than TV to capture the intense situations.
Imagine in TLOU part 1 Joel got stabbed by a pen knife and then continues with the same story that we know. It doesn't quite hit your emotions, and to be honest, most players would forget how he got injured in the first place.
Having a 15 foot fall, an impalement and a 10 minute gameplay segment of escaping while losing consciousness made it so memorable, the unrealistic side of it doesn't even matter. The 0.1% survival rate made it work.
The game is so much better

Up until ep 6 I still had hope that the show could be at least half as good. Never as amazing as the game but you know what I mean. But then we get several moments of Joel being unnecessarily weak, no raider attacks like in the game, and Ellie didn't run away which resulted in a harrowing chase to save her from raiders which then climaxed into their tearful argument. And then when they get back to Jackson is when Joel decides to stay with Ellie. Then we see Joel kill one guy at the university when in the game you have the option to either kill or sneak past a ton of clickers and a bloater. Then it's an epic struggle to fight their out as they first meet David's Group. I almost don't want to keep watching but I love Bella and Pedro.
@@wyattchandler6359p 7 was cheeks imo the way Ellie jus goes up stairs finds a needle and thread then stitch’s Joel up was dumb, idk why they didn’t include her getting the medication from the mall like she did in the game it showed how eager she was to save Joel and what she was capable of.

@@ascohen11180 unbias opinion. The show was alright. I liked the extra detail. The game was better in my opinion. (mainly because the experience was unique for me.) BUT DAMN YOU GOT HIM GOOD. He needs some ice with that one.
