Officers are tracked by global positioning and equipped with an in- vehicle touch-screen, a hand-held remote, digital photo and video capability, and direct access to federal, state, and local records. All data is entered electronically at the scene into pre-programmed forms, eliminating the need for transcription, and it is automatically transmitted to state and local record centers. Estimated on-scene time savings are 20-50 percent.
