      @@rachelcookie321 Immigrants are Americans. One of the earliest/easiest ways that immigrants assimilate is how they dress. Accents take many more years to change. It would be hard to find socks that are that length in an American stores so its definitely not something that is in style there. The 3rd one was easy because she didn't sound American so that felt like cheating. But also belts over dresses aren't really popular with someone her age in the US. 1 and 2 both dressed in a way that would be common in the US but I was leaning towards 1 because Fila isnt a very popular shoe brand in the US.

    Lol, as an italian guy the fact that Giordana said that she's from the north when she was asked what part of Italy she's from makes me laugh, cause it's such an Italian thing to do, if you ask that in Italy, before telling the city, before telling the region, people might just tell you first if they're from the southern part or the northern part nstead, but that doesn't work with foreigners, foreigners just want to know city names..

It’s def hard to tell just by clothes but listening to their voices the whole time it was pretty apparent 2 & 3 had accents so I ruled them out regardless of fashion. Even tho #2 did have a typical gen Z vibe like the girl said. And so between 1 & 4 I felt #1 sounded a lot more American. I liked all their outfits tho 👏🏻😍

    1 had the most typical millennial style. The beret isn't even a let-down, like it honestly fits. It's quite common to see a beret or beret-style hat in the stores, at least for me. I own 3, in fact, and 2 of them are from Target, and 1 of those from Target was purchased in 2019.
    2 did have the gen-z look, but the shirt was a little off for me. I would've narrowed it down between 1 and 2. The cuffed jeans are a trend, just a bit more in the LGBT+ community.
    3 actually had an outfit that I, as an American, would wear. I wear tights all the time, especially under dresses and skirts in the fall and winter. The shoes were kind of throwing it off for me though, but it is more millennial. But also she had an accent, so it was a little easier to think she was a foreigner.
    4 I could tell was not American right away. The style does kind of look like an LA fit, but co-ords are very popular overseas and just starting to get popular among the masses here in the US. And then the shorts paired with a big baggy sweatshirt did seem much more non-American. It's got a sporty vibe, but the American sporty vibe is much more leggings with baggy sweatshirts like the one 4 was wearing.

The style of the first girl is something I probably would've worn (only a different colored shirt, I don't often wear mostly black), but I also would've worn a dress and tights like the third girl (except the I would've combined them with boots, I mostly wear boots or sneakers). The last time I visited the States was 8 years ago, I remember that back then everyone was wearing very casual wear. A lot of people were wearing sweatpants, leggings or sport shorts combined with oversized random T-shirt ( a lot of them were wearing tie dye!) and flip flops or sneakers.
    It was much more casual then what I would usually see in my village in the Netherlands. Here people would never wear sweatpants or leggings in public (except for in the city), also I have never seen people here wear tie dye. But things might have changed since I was there last time.

    The US is a HUGE country with many different people and styles...also weather plays a great part in the clothes you wear. I used to live in California and as it's hot most part of the year I most men wear shorts, tank tops and flip flops or seankers like I did. Certainly that is not how people in Chicago, Boston or New York would would dress.

    My prediction and though process before watching:
    #3 is immediately eliminated because she's wearing pantyhose. American women, unfortunately, have stopped wearing this garment for the most part.
    #1 is disqualified because she's wearing a leather jacket, which is more of a European style.
    #4 is disqualified because the long sleeve and shorts combination makes her look top heavy, which isn't a look that Americans have.
    #2 is, therefore, my pick. Time to see how well I did!

    • @anndeecosita3586
      @anndeecosita3586 Před 2 lety +4

      I didn’t think #2 would be the American because of how high waisted her jeans are. We don’t usually wear our jeans that high up. You are right in that we don’t wear pantyhose that much but we definitely do wear tights with our sweater dresses and jumpers in the fall. I usually put on some boots with mine and I’m too cute. Btw I picked number one because that’s the only outfit I would wear. It does look city chic though.

    • @r0bw00d
      @r0bw00d Před 2 lety

      @@anndeecosita3586 My concern with #2 were the cuffed legs since we haven't had those for 60 years, but if I went with that, then I would've had to eliminate everyone. Her clothing, otherwise, appeared to be the most American. With #1, I've never seen an American dress like that, but then I've never lived in New York, either.

In my head the heavy leather coat plus nice boots = UK, pretty and colorful dress = Continental Europe, Fuzzy matching shorts, top, and hat + bright white shoes = Australia, or maybe UK. Jeans + comfy shoes = American. The German girl was the one who would not look out of place walking down the street anywhere on the US West Coast.
