Solar panel Watt meter was a major let down compared to ac/dc clamp on meter

Today we are discussing the solar panel watt meter that will tell you the Watts voltage and amps of a single solar panel. But you’re limited to one solar panel at a time.  The readings displayed were not close to actual output of solar panel when using a multimeter and checking at inverter input. solar panel watt meter only lasted around a half hour and tested 10 solar panels as we clamp on meter that shows AC/DC has lasted over two years and will probably last a lifetime. Spent close to $90 on solar watt meter and only $40-$60 on clamp on AC/DC meter, I was thoroughly disappointed with the inaccuracy of the solar panel watt meter and the fact it has no safety features that would shut it down and be able to reset. My conclusion is the watt meter is disposable, not worth the money and if you do decide to buy one by all means buy the warranty. You will need to use extended warranty. Hope the video was helpful. I got the FrogBro looks identical to that one it works great no issues compared it to what the inverter shows it seems accurate. I take it with me to Santan Solar when I pickup panels to verify no issues like an open or short. This one goes up to 1600 watts or 60 volts I do know MPPT chips will burn out if you get too close to the max input.

Thanks for your input. If buying used panels, it’s great to check individual panels. I was not getting anywhere near what the watt meter was saying when I applied a load to use as many watts as possible from solar panels. Glad it works well for you. Hope you have a truly wonderful and blessed 2024
