  • Today we are testing six used mono panels that we bought for $18 each that range from 270 Watt to 315 watt. We are using the elejoy EL400B solar panel multimeter to test the output of each panel for watts, Volt Pmax, amps and volt Voc. This elejoy is best to test 1 solar panels at a time. It is rated for 400 watts. Links below for products in video. Bought elejoy meter on EBay, prices vary, many sellers. Please like, share, subscribe and hit the notification bell. Have a truly wonderful and extremely blessed remainder of 2024.

    Thank you for sharing the value on the selected panels. Glad they're enough to power the mini-split. Thanks for sharing as always!

      @MatthewYBarbo you are so welcome. Most of the time I get really good panels. Being used, every once in a while I get one that underperforms. But still a great deal at the price. Very very cheap to start solar. I prefer new solar panels with 25 year warranty. The used solar panels only have one year warranty and after that you should expect to get 2-7 more years before the solar panels will get to 50 percent of stated watts. But for those wanting to start solar and do not have the money to buy new panels, it’s a great way to break into solar and learn, then in a few years upgrade and replace with new panels. If you have a large yard like I do, you can over panel like me and get the output you need. But having 10 new 400-500 watt bifacial solar panels that can easily give me over 3000 watt output is nice for small yards. I should be able to get 20+ years of great output from the bifacial panels.

    I need to move down to your neck of the woods! No way for us to get $22 panels up here in Reno-Sparks, Nevada!

      They sell used solar panels everywhere, California has dozens of places selling used solar panels. Keep searching online. You might find places near you that sell used solar panels. Also these places will have free shipping or free freight on pallet promotions. Usually a mini of 10 solar panels on a pallet. Good luck. Hope you have a truly wonderful and extremely blessed 2024

    Nice video, would really want to see how you protect wire from array into house, wonder if conduit is underground or secured or protected in some way

    • @diy-solar-guy
      @diy-solar-guy  Před měsícem +2

      I run the wire in flexible conduit that is buried in ground. You can buy at Home Depot or Lowe’s. Out here, the ground is like cement because we don’t get much rain. So I wait until it rains before I dig.

      @@diy-solar-guy Neat. I was talking about the fact that you are ostensibly holding a 2-300 watt heater in your hand. Obviously, these are momentary tests.
      Still, did it get warm at all?
      thanks for the video!

    • @diy-solar-guy
      @diy-solar-guy  Před měsícem +1

      @jamesalles139 the meter is powered by the solar panel when you connect it. There is no battery inside the solar panel tester. I just bought and started using it so I don’t know how it works inside with the circuits. But if you use a panel or panels over the load limits, the tested will be ruined unable to repair. I would buy insurance if you were to buy one. So if it stops working you can get replaced. It’s nice to test to see if panel is good but will have to see when I connect this 6 panel solar array to inverter to see the actual input and compare to the readings I got today. I will have to try at 10:30 am to make sure it is the same time of the day to see if the testing is correct. This is a 400 watt max multimeter solar panel tester.

      This is exactly what I was thinking. Didnt know such a device exists without diverting load to a resistor or something. You live and learn lol

    • @diy-solar-guy
      @diy-solar-guy  Před měsícem +1

      @eugeneputin1858 these solar panel multimeters area very easy to overload. If you buy one, stay under 400 watts for this meter I show in video they are around $65 and up on eBay and Amazon. Buy the warranty!!!!!! But overall work ok.
