- Five people have been injured after several Household Cavalry horses bolted and ran loose through central London.
At least one soldier was hurt after a spooked horse smashed into cars outside the Clermont Hotel on Buckingham Palace Road, Victoria. Pictures also show an injured man lying on the floor on Fleet Street.
Five Household Cavalry horses, including one covered in blood, were also seen charging through other areas of London including Tower Bridge and the Strand.

If wasn’t lame. Seem to be moving fine and the blood won’t have a chance to clot if it’s runny . A small amount of blood on a white horse will look bad compared to a black or brown horse . Similar to a head cut on a human . Looks horrific with blood running down your face but turned out it’s just a 3mm cut or something

This is a city, there are a zillion things that spook people, let alone animals. It is not a fit place for sensitive animals.

As an equestrian this horrifies me. Having your horse bolt on the road is my worst nightmare. I’ve seen my friend’s horse go through the windshield of a car (car had no way to know the horse was going to bolt out of a side road in front of it; driver and passenger survived, the horse had to be euthanised. I had to crawl into the wrecked car to hold his head and keep him calm under the vet arrived). The grey horse covered in blood - I know it looks white but it’s actually classed as grey as it has grey skin; white horses have pink skin - was limping but like most prey animals it’ll keep moving in its panic. It seems like it was the one that slipped over, hopefully it’s just superficial injuries and a twisted ankle that’ll need rest. Well done to the man who caught that horse; he seemed to know what he was doing.

Again someone having no business getting involved but thinking he had to get involved for some reason.
He was very lucky the horse was spent out, the guy could easily have been harmed and cause even more chaos.
Leave the care of these animals to professionals.

@francesco245 Not getting involved is called Bystander Syndrome, and it often leads to worse outcomes. The horse was calm, he took the rein exactly like he should’ve. He could always let go if it started getting upset.

I don’t think anyone has any idea how highly trained these horses are , they are desensitised to so much - only have to look at the footage of back in the 80’s when a nail bomb went of during a parade to understand just how desensitised they are. It must have been something truly terrifying they seen to chuck of their riders in mass and bolt off like that - they had been totally terrified by something?

All five horses involved in the incident are now captured, safe and being given the best possible vetinary treatment. According to Radio 2 earlier today, the horses were spooked by workmen this morning, laying cement in the road. Two of the horses (probably the injured grey and the black horse) were able to gallop a distance of 5 miles from the scene of the accident in Buckingham Palace road. 4 people have been injured as a result of the incident. No further details given.
Finally someone provides an actual response amongst the million inane "Oh, poor horsies", "I like horses", "I hope the horses are alright" comments, and gets a fraction of the likes. Says something about us.

After the white horse slams into the parked double decker bus at the 00:10 time code mark, the beautiful horse appears to have blood in it's nostrils, an open chest wound; or wounds, and blood on the front side of both rear legs. The blood on it's body was probably caused by glass shards from the parked bus's smashed windshield (seen at 00:15) that it slammed into at a 3/4 gallop.

In the opening few seconds, there are four horses- two more black ones are further ahead. It's one of those who crashed into the bus. The light horse already had visible blood before then.

Yes! There ARE four horses in the first moments. It's one of the two black horses further in front who slammed into the bus. The light horse was already bloodied (see its abdomen and hind legs in the first seconds.)

Apparently, the horses were startled by noises from a building site. Seems strange to me given that these horses are trained to not react to loud noises, but they are still animals.
I understand people are concerned for the horses. There were clearly terrified and at least one of them hurt (But the fact they were still running indicates that it's not too bad, thankfully), but why are so few people concerned for the five people that have been hurt? Getting thrown off, kicked by or mowed down by a lean, half ton animal is no joke.
Because most people have only seen the horses running in panic, one of them bleeding. It's more difficult for them to think about the riders since they don't have that fresh image.

I think the tent was to help the man who was hurt and heard that the Army took all of the horses back to barracks, to be seen by Vets and hopefully they are not badly hurt.

What spooked them? Even with expertly trained horses with expert riders. Horses spook easily.
Thankfully the man was able to get the reigns. Prayers they and the riders heal up well.

Oh..what a shocking and scary scene. So upsetting, thanks to that guy getting the reigns.. heard in an update they threw their riders and took off after building rubbish going through a chute near their training ground - which can be very loud and unexpected. Looking forward to later today's news of them hopefully safe and settled and recovering x

Yeah. It can happen with bad training and discipline (and I mean of the riders not the horses). Too much asked of inexperienced novices. And ridiculous there was nothing to stop these horses escaping into heavy traffic!

I surely hope and presume, the injured white horse drenched in blood, has been attended and is recovering. I felt humanely touched by it's injuries.

The massive tent at the end is worrying, they normally do that when they put a horse down say at the tracks or something. Hope they got them all back to the stables instead
I think they were treating the injured rider there. They use screens when they treat injured jockeys at race tracks - for privacy.

Sometimes....this 'training' designed for conformity per se.... actually restricts the true life for the horse....

I saw another video about this incident and it said that the horses spooked because when they were going near a construction site, objects were being dropped onto the ground from a height and they crashed right next to the horses.

There was no blood on the white horse as the image was captured at the beginning of this clip … and horses with no saddles?? … exactly how many were there?! Bizarre
The ones shown galloping did have saddles I thought. The horse at the end of the clip didn't, which I don't understand. I wondered if this was a symbolic thing like the white hart which was shot in Liverpool. It was probably just a freak accident though.
I hope those horses are okay after what happened. No animal deserves to be frightened or in pain like that.
