When Perez wants more stability in the car, the car will be slower. Listen to the high performance interview with Albon. He explains it perfectly. The car is so fast because Verstappen can drive it with a setup that is totally on the edge and almost impossible to drive but if you can tame the car in that set up you are fast. Like Albon explained, he likes a sharp front end also but nobody can handle an extreme set up like Verstappen.

For me Sergio is struggling because of the mental fatigue of his seat, for sure. but i have said it sooo many times; Sergio's driving form is exactly 180 degrees the opposite of Max. Developing the car for Max (rightly so) makes it so much harder for Checo to give good performances. I mean when you don't have a good feel in the car, you don't want to be in the car, let alone drive well. Danny ric didn't do any better against Max, Albon? Same. I really wish they could develop the car differently for each driver. Alas i don't think it will happen. I feel like, unless Sergio is winning races, this is the end at RB for him. Makes me sad because he has been my #1 driver since his GP days. But it is simply the reality at the top.

Well, he helped the team win a 1-2 in the championship. For the first time ever. So from an objective standpoint, he's actually the best 2nd driver Red Bull has ever had.
The only problem is he's constantly being compared to the juggernaut that is Max Verstappen, a generational talent (who will be in the conversation for GOAT) .
Remember how Alonso spanked Raikonnen into oblivion? It happens.

    • @gabrielnunez7623
      @gabrielnunez7623 Před 4 měsíci +2

He was 2nd place with less than half of Max's points. Max could've literally won the WCC alone. In fact, if you divide the season in 2, Max still outscores Checo's year round points total. Fact is, the p2 wasn't special at all and was carried by the god tier machinery he had underneath. If Hamilton didn't DNF in Qatar and get DSQd in Austin, he would've been P3. Hell, if AMR/FERRARI/MERC/MCL wouldn't trade places for second best team every other weekend he would've lost that position.
And really? Comparing Alonso and Raikkonen to Max and Checo? Checo wishes he was even close to Kimi's level during his second Ferrari stint. Kimi was already a WDC by that point was obviously mailing it in after his time in Lotus, and even so...he did very well as a #2 for Vettel.
People need to stop coping and accept that Checo is not talented enough for a #1 spot in WCC contending team. He's not even a good #2 right now because he's a terrible qualifier. The only one worse than him in the top teams right now is Stroll.

Quite possibly the best, most objective, video on Sergio Perez I've seen in a long time. I'm a long time Checo fan, but Monaco '22 made it REALLY hard to stay a Checo fan. After that I was more of a Checo supporter, than an all out fan. After last season, even I am saying it's time for Checo to move on to a different team, or just retire altogether to spend more time with his family. I really think, given the opportunity, Liam Lawson will shine in that seat. Maybe not taking on Max (who realistically can, at this point?), but at the very least getting consistent podiums and good points for the team. RBR needs to hurry up and make up their mind about Checo, so they can move Ricciardo into his seat, and Lawson into the VCARB seat, so we can get a full season to see Lawson in action.

@@gameofender4463 Fair take. I feel like those 3 all have something to prove:
Russell is in vulnerable position due to Mercedes clearly favorizing Hamilton during last season and he needs to show this year that he's not number 2 driver but someone who is going to bring victories and success to the team (which he definitely has potential for, no matter what some people say)
Piastri doesn't need to improve much, but he needs to fully demonstrate to McLaren this year that he's better investment than Norris. If he does that, he could be team number 1 driver by 2025.
Tsunoda - I mentioned him because he could show to be good option for Red Bull's second seat by ironing out his mistakes and beating Ricciardo (of course, Perez is also a factor here).
As for other two, I think that issue with Bottas is that he's not pressured enough. He's essentially like Kimi in his Alfa Romeo days right now. As for Sargeant, I think that his position greatly depends on how other Williams and Mercedes juniors perform in lower categories. Of course, he also needs to up his game.

He may have finished second last year, but that was already by a narrow margin. If things get competitive, more drivers could be finishing ahead of him. And that puts Max in a more difficult position (let's be honest, Checo is a #2 driver).
Red Bull need a rear gunner that finishes just behind Max while also being there if things get tough. If that doesn't happen or if he starts falling behind more this year, then 2024 could be his last with Red Bull.

I’m gonna be honest I think they’re gonna replace Checo simply because they had Max talking about retirement they know Max and Daniel get along. They know they have their PR show pony with Daniel so they’re very likely in my opinion to switch Daniel up to being maxes teammate because they’re going into new regulations was the driver that got away that it doesn’t seem like they ever really wanted to lose, the stages of career that both Daniel and Sergio are at our very different. Daniel wants to retire with Red Bull. And it still looks like Sergio wants to continue to race. I think Sergio right back with the midfield team. I just think the pressure cooker got to him and that he doesn’t understand his role where I feel Daniel going into that team will understand and will be more of a yes, man for them.

Pressure? Let me tell you what's the real pressure. Stucking in the back because of shit engine, then finally get a competitive car, shouldering the task of winning wdc for red bull after their last champion. Being attacked by tifosi and mec fans for years just because he appeared in the wrong position. Losing huge amount of points by crashes when the car is good, then watching himself could do nothing for his car which became slower and slower in the second half of the season, and watching wdc slip away. That is pressure.
Checo's pressure is nothing comparing with Max's. He is 2nd driver of red bull. The only thing he need is to help Max and win as much points as possible. He doesn't need to face the pressure of winning a wdc. By the way, his salary is only less than Ham and Max in the grid, being more than Lec who need to fight for Ferarri for wdc in 2022.
