  • Final video of the S10's A/C install. The 2003-2006 DBW PCM's are a little trickier compared to the earlier DBC since they generally use a transducer and a serial communication from the dash to the PCM in the stock trucks, so I just bypassed the PCM completely and made a standalone wiring setup using the stock S10 A/C control switch.

    great video. haven't seen one yet that made sense of using a factory switch panel with a standalone system- let alone tied into the pcm for the fans. Thanks for the great guide! will need this all when its time to build my system

    Nice work. You still have the S10. I subscribed to check out the build on it. I'm about to start my V8 S10 build on my channel with a few how-to's, big difference from my normal short videos. Keep it up!

    Wil, another helpful video, thanks. When you started the truck and switched on the A/C from the dash, and before you hit the rocker, I could hear a change in the idle. Was that a coincidence?

      I had been running the AC right before filming that, shut everything down, then started the camera. The low pressure side was still lower then 40psi since it had only been off a few seconds so you did hear the compressor kick on, but normally that wouldn't happen unless it had just been shut off. Good catch lol.

    What low pressure switch are you using? The stock one from the s10? Or the one that matches the vehicle the compressor came from?

    I just did mine and it will come on when i unplug the low pressure switch but cuts off soon as i plug it in

    It would be neat to have drilled out a hole for a push button on-off switch on the AC control head, but with that design I'm not sure there was room for it

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  Před rokem +2

      Push button would work also, I just went with a rocker switch since it was already in my spare parts drawer.

    What size relay are you running for ac compressor and fan? Thanks for the video!

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  Před 2 lety +2

      30 amp on each fan and the compressor (3 relays total), but check your fan since some require higher then 30.

    What low pressure switch are you using I might have missed it in the video

      It's a stock screw-on one that connects to the dryer port.

    I didn’t understood the little switch on the side for? 🤔🤔

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  Před rokem +1

      It's a manual low pressure saftey switch override since the computer isn't part of the equation.

    Why is there no connection for the heat? What should we do if we want to keep it?

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  Před 2 lety

      The heat didnt need a connection for the wiring. The stock S10 components just switch the blend door over when the dial is turned to Heat. The only thing I did was connect the heater hoses to the S10 outlets on the firewall.

      @@wilsworkshop I’ve got a dodge with nearly the same features so I’m guessing the wiring would be the same.

    • @wilsworkshop
      @wilsworkshop  Před 2 lety +2

      Should work similar even though it's a Dodge, since I'm bypassing the computer it's just basic on/off voltage from the dash controls controlling the compressor and fan.

    I run the trigger switch for 10 seconds and when i cut it off the ac compressor cuts off unless the pressure switch is unpluged
