Stefan has done work for future generations ears and fingers that otherwise would've been lost to history. He's a treasure as much as the legendary music he has cataloged.

Son House's voice was incredible and matchless, so much so that none other than Lynyrd Skynyrd wrote the the song "Swamp Music" that directly pays tribute to him.
"...sing just like old Son House singin' the blues."

absolutely, son house went through real poverty, real racism and backbreaking work and as you say was THE man back in the day. robert johnson idolised and followed around this guy.. he may not be a guitar supremo but for sheer power of voice and spirit - mr house looks down on them all
the famous story of muddy waters who when his star was riding high had the (by then) somewhat disheveled, elderly and slightly worse for wear son house in his gathering who at somepoint was being laughed at and made fun of by someone who was wondering why the biggest star in blues at the time was hanging round with this toothless old drunk... which caused muddy to grab and slam this guy up against the wall shouting 'dont you dare laugh at him - he was THE MAN back in the day'
      that always made me smile

Great pleasure to learn more and more about 'my' music ... also interesting how things come together .. I watched a Muddy Waters sort of doc the other day where he was told to (being less of a physical guy off the stage) really getting to some roadies for making fun of Son House walking so fraily . with the words 'never again dare to make fun of this man who in his day was king and the only reason you have a job with me'

Eddie J. Son House was a honest man, very poor ( he never became a rich man with these
records), true singer of the human pain and suffering , he was a saint
    of the blues music ...

    • @michavandam

      He was also a murderer.

    • @Gunners_Mate_Guns

@@michavandam Uncomfortably true that he killed a man, although apparently they let him out of prison early because it was deemed a defensive shooting.
He was no saint, as it were, but he really lived the life of which he sang and played.

Stefan Grossman is a very bad guitarist. He has no technique and everything he make are stolen from the old bluesmen.
