The way Son House singing and guitar playing is intertwined and locked into his groove is down right incredible.

A few Decades later & a little bit older, but what do we expect at 87 going on 88 June 30th? I can't believe he's supposedly only worth $2 Million (I don't look that stuff up but it was right there as I was looking for something else re him in a search. Either Divorces, Family needs OR the generosity for the Best Players along with him cost him a lot more than the usual deals. See him if you haven't seen him in his mid-Life Period - not a 'Crisis' or a 'Conflikt'- just the best. TRY to get "Legends" or "Pirate" Label shows in Januarys at Buddy Guy's Legends. Two CDs per Show & One show per night. Soundboards one & all- for the Fans. Walter Trout is the next best player when he's wailing. John Mayall hooked him for the "Chicago Line" Blues Breakers' release AFTER a year w/The Heat in early 1980s.

Sun House plays like one of those guitarist that sound like 2 guitar players playing. Can't believe Robert Johnson actually use to watch him play. That's what made me check him out. And Buddy Guy's skills speak for itself. I hear so many future artist in this video. And Sun House slides are breathtaking. If B.B. King is the king of bending, then Sun House is the king of slides.

Son House was a huge influence. His voice back in the day was so powerful too. Check out Charley Patton as well (if you haven't already)

He really does feel like the Godfather of heavy metal at his best. He plays like he can hardly contain himself, like at any moment he could just tear his guitars to pieces. So boldly masculine while also painfully vulnerable. There aren't many artists, even people who can be like that. The second he starts you know he's complete no-bullshit about anything.

I saw Buddy Guy this year and the questions I'd ask him about his memories of Son House and also of one my other favorites Junior Wells. Son House had an influence even on Robert Johnson. Son House had ties to Charley Patton too.

Buddy Guy is the favorite Guitar Player from interviews w/ Top performers like: Jorma Kaukonen, BECK, Clapton, Page, Hendrix & SRV & his Bands w/ : 'The Jr Wells-Buddy Guy Blues Band' &/or Blues Review' were blazing away in DC, Denver (2 night stays- Denver iS an 'Interstate Crossroads'(E-W I-70+N-S I-25). As they'd figure out N,S,E or W- two nights in Denver & selling a few dozen Peppermint Lounge &/or Checkerboard Lounge T-shirts (for Gas money or fkg Royal Gate; Jr had class). Those Backing Bands knew- KNEW!- WHAT WAS NEXT. I never saw a set list. 'That's amazing!' No, Buddy - Jr worked on the shows w/whoever was the Band leader until they had it right. Every time I saw Buddy Guy (w/without Jr) I was jolted up outta my seat - a low population bar or an Auditorium & DC>DENVER ×2,"×2,"×2, Ft Lauderdale (NYE when Fender woke up & finally Respected Buddy-'91-2(±), & Redding, CA my last PRE-VID Show: He always had the ability to make serious audience members jolt/jerk up outta Our (12±) chairs/seats, anywhere in the USA- NO Setlists but tight! I miss his GUILD - Model -? Buddy always did his best & No SETLISTS. He could shift gears & shut 'em down as he said "WAIT A MINUTE!" SILENCE from the Stage. They were ripped off in the 'Festival Express' Tour of Canada just as at Live AID. Where are the Black Artists? Only Teddy P (The Voice of Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes!) w/ Ashford & Simpson & Tina Turner, & Patti Labelle-who lived in Philly- & a few others at Live AID! Buddy would've been a backbreaker at Kennedy Stadium! Only after THE VID has Buddy slowed down & for the first 2 times since THE VID: 8-4+6-2023 (at 87 since 7-30-23 a week before or less - were the first times since 3-5-20 in Redding, CA was I not jerked up out of my seat & didn't see any others Hit that way either. The Real Deal was a Sharecropper's Son, had limited vocabulary & ability to construct Songs- not just 🎼music 🎶- Songs that made me, others in the same venue spaz like there was an Epilepsy Convention in the area & this was the entertainment scheduled for them! No one was better than Buddy Guy w/that double cut GUILD as in the '80s! Nobody. He knew he was able to rip apart but then he had class & showmanship & the illusion of competition in the works. That's SAD- He told Clapton he had to beg off Crossroads for, I think, the 1st time ever this time. Once he got his Kennedy Center Award- no more hanging w/the crowds. Look up Chicago Hustle '82 (w/that GUILD I believe). It's the time frame. He didn't have to show up anybody else by then. He's been credited by Jimi, SRV, E.C. & BECK & THEY KNEW THAT HE WAS JUST BEING POLITE & 'DIPLOMATIC SO AS NOT TO UPSTAGE THEM- AS A GUEST AT THEIR SHOWS. He's going to be 88 on July 30th. Maybe. If you never saw & heard him in the '80s- you'll never know. Footage of Buddy, Buddy Miles & Jack Bruce in London & Muddy telling him about getting screwed by Mgmnt people was Fatherly advice on the Biz. Look, listen & watch the 'Lick This' Instructional DVD Series by Buddy for a glimpse OR you'll never know what you missed & what He could do! January's were either filmed &/or 'just' recorded & I bought everything I saw by him from Buddy's Legends- you can't get better from a Sharecropper's Son in Louisiana. Buddy in the 80s & 90s was a knock out; ask Clapton. Watch the next one after this- OR- "BUDDY GUY BERN 2000" AS HE'S INTO THE CROWD WAILING & WALKING AROUND THE AUDIENCE doing'I Just Want To Make Love To You'. I DON'T LIE. ENJOY THE TIMES WHEN HE HAD LONG, RELAXED HAIR (AGE SPAN- NOT FOR THE FASHION STATEMENT). A LOT OF 'MID-LIFE' CRISES (PLURAL FOR 1 CRISIS) LOL

You're selfish about the truth. I was at L.AID & TAPED THE ENTIRE THING. DOES THAT OFFEND YOU FOR SOME REASON? SAD. YOUR EDITS ARE JUST DISSUADING PEOPLE FROM GETTING A BETTER IDEA THEY SHOULD LOOK AT MORE THAN JUST WHAT YOU THINK IS ENOUGH.
