Could listen to Stefan talking all day about his guitars - he is a master of his craft but doesn't come across pushy and full of himself like so many others - a sure sign of his true greatness on the instrument. Have Stefan to thank for his Kicking Mule LPs getting me into guitar playing as a teenager back in the 70's

Stefan this video was a great influence upon me buying a Franklin Guitar OM, 13 frets. Its a great guitar with tone to die for. Just gets better every year. Also Nick is a great guy and very good friend. Best guitar I have ever owned. Just a pleasure to play. Thanks for producing this video. I do agree that you could make most guitars sing. However, it doesn't hurt to have one that shows off our skills in a proper way. 😊🎸👏👏👏👍😎❤

Stefan: you are a great guitar player and a great teacher. Dominates the guitar as I saw the great Brazilian accordionist Luiz Gonzaga, mastering her accordion: playing and talking without making mistakes and without shuffle. It's a huge pleasure to see you talk about what you do. The Franklin Guitar has a beautiful sound. Congratulations. Otamar de Carvalho, Brasília, DF, Brazil

I have one of Nick's OM's. Amazing guitar. If you want a guitar that is an absolute joy to play and sounds so sweet that people stop to inquire, then buy a Franklin, made by Nick Kukich. Thanks so much Nick! Stuart
And thanks for the vid Stefan. Really enjoyed your playing.

    Great work Stefan, as usual...
I still own your old Mahogany Jumbo, and play it with great pleasure...
Franklin are really great great guitar, but as you said, and how we hear in your videos... the sound is 10% in the guitar & 90% in the hands...
Happy new year to you and your family!!

I really like his jumbo guitars except that I am a small guy and I am worried handling that size guitar. His OM's are nice, however, I prefer short scales like 243/4 or 24.9. They cost around 8k and up. They are worth it, my pocket doesn't hear how nice they sound so we haven't come to an agreement yet about the price. LOL Thanks nice video.

  • @StevieRich

For those commenting on the price of this guitar, first try building one of this quality... please, and then call me. And, if you haven't sat with in the right listening environment while in front of a virtuoso like Stephen playing a fine guitar... you don't know what good sound is. I might suggest you find an older friend, maybe your grand farther who has a great tube amp stereo from the 70's like a McIntosh or what we used to have in music class, a nice Bogan or AR and some nice AR-3A's... get a clean vinal LP, yes, analog... close your eyes and listen instead of watching You Tube video's to entertain your ears.

Mr Grossman... do you have anything that you're playing On You tube, that you also offer the tabulature for as well. I'm a old time rock and roll guitarist, that in my old age now (like Mr Clapton) I now want to get back to my roots, and learn some old fingerpicking Delta (Type) Blues. I'm kind of starting out all over again, from scratch, I had my old Ovation, and Gibson SG stolen from me back in the early 90's so I haven't touched the guitar for the better part of 20 yrs. and I've recently bought myself another Martin, and what I think must be one of the heaviest guitars ever made, the Ibinez Artist, and I want to reteach myself stuff. I've forgotten most of what I used to know, except for the pentatonics

Sounds like a lot of money, but the amount of work that goes into a handmade instrument is considerable. In the UK a plumber gets about $70 an hour. You are doing well to get a handmade done in 100 hours. That's $7000 right off. Equally, repairs seem expensive, A neck reset here comes in around $400. Sounds like a lot, and if all goes well, the repairperson is making a great living. If something goes wrong they're lucky to be getting minimum wage. Guitar makers without the reputation of Nic's Franklins are likewise lucky to be getting better than minimum wage.

How refreshing to see a comment with some sense in its content. To second the comment, you tube videos are so over compressed to begin with and thats before you take into consideration the recording equipment quality, playback speaker quality etc...upshot is you ABSOLUTELY cannot tell for sure how a guitar sounds from one of these videos alone. Are you kidding me? You don't need a $9,000 guitar to record or play blues. Real blues sound better on an old Stella or Kay. I have played a Chinese made $200 Recording King Dirty Thirties Model that sounded more appropriate for old style blues. What are you paying for hear.

This Jumbo is based on an old 30s Euphonon or Prairie State. Lots of blues and country folk played on those. Stefan plays really softly; this guitar is loud as fuck and can cut anything. It is great for playing with two or three other guitars because you won't hear the others.
