Did you go through a real sandy horseshoe bend that was super tight and deep? We were out there the beginning of March in an LX (just sliders and stock tires) and took a turn onto Fins & Things then up to Porcupine Rim. Got lost but made it out after a few hours and some challenges. Beautiful weather and overlooks. I really should get more aggressive tires, but that Lexus surprised the hell out of me.
No, we started from further up Salt Flats Road.

Not really, it’s just longer but it has much better views

I’m not sure. There are campsites near the trailhead, but I don’t think you can camp on the trail

Since I'm stealing every other idea from you... okay only the bumpers, what are you using to carry fuel back there?
Also, if you get a flat, what jack do you carry? Now that I'm putting 37s and a lift on, I don't think the provided scissor jack will suffice.
Great questions! For extra fuel, we have two 3g RotoPax that we attach to the spare tire when needed. We carry a bottle jack for ease of use, but actually, I have changed the 38" tires with the stock scissor jack. We also carry a tire repair kit just in case.
