Thank you Engineer Rick for your videos. I can forget about my troubles when I'm in your garage,
Great session, i really like the palm trees
I really like that Sand colored tower! I realize real one is White, but that stands out And Blends in. 😊
Interesting moves.
Engineer Rick - just for fun, maybe back-date operations to caboose era for a video or two, and show the movements of the crew in operations and how they relate to the caboose location etc.? Could be fascinating and then we can see the changes in operations to the current era.
Fascinated by the logistics of it all.
Hey Rick, nice ops session. Your hand painted graffiti looks good. I enjoy watching your videos. I don't see anything wrong with how you operate your layout. The switching gets done and you're having fun. That's all that matters.
Nice job on the graffiti. I know some folks will give you a hard time about how you did your switching today, but you were having fun, so who cares? Looking forward to more.
Nice Ops session Rick! You might want to be careful following that guy on the TV. I hear he's always up to no good...lol. I really like the Can't Be Stopped on your hopper car. I have a still photo of that saying on an Autorack that I railfanned a year or so ago. Catch you next time! - Jason
Thanks 👍
Hi Rick & it's is Randy and i like yours video is Cool & Thanks Rick & Friends Randy & Hi Benjamin & Super Cool Video is Rick & Friends Randy
Man you get into some tight spots, but you switch your way out of them 😁 As for the camera 4k overheating thing - I film in 1080, then render in 4k, and upload to CZcams. Not sure if your video software allows for that. Take care!
Thanks for the tips!
Hey Rick... FYI... I made a virtual layout in Railroads Online on the Alaska Map including your yard, the nearby industry, Huntington Beach, and Orange. All are spread out on a narrow gauge 1890's layout with steam engines and cars. It also includes two 'strong-arm' turntables since they had to turn the engines. I'm happy to share the game save file with you as you may like it considering your flight simulator experience. Let me know how to get the file to you.
Love the videos and the layout!! How do you like the ESU DCC? I use NCE and debating replacing it with ESU. Would appreciate your honest review.
I like the ESU because it's easy to setup. Just the main unit and it's basically a wifi router so I can connect to it with my phone and use a freeware throttle. As for the handheld throttle it's fine, but I always have to be careful with it. If you were to drop it you would probably break it. Having the ESU wifi already built in, you could use another throttle that supports wifi and is a bit more robust and not so delicate. But if your running a small layout I do recommend it just know that you have to be careful with it.
Rick, is the SD40-2 an Athearn Genesis or Scaletrains? Assuming a Loksound decoder.
It is Athearn RTR with a tsunami2
What happened to the other great switch engines???? (UP) ☹️😎
Nothing. It's possible to have more than one locomotive and use them on different days.
Couple of things - you still have that Railbox car from a couple of sessions ago and one from the session before this out on the layout for future work. Have you forgotten about those? The other is - you talk about the camera over heating while shooting 4k. What's your frame rate? If you're shooting 4k60 there's no need for that with CZcams as no one would ever really see that. Maybe try a lower frame rate or resolution.
Hey Rick, How come you are so slow on working on your layout.
The railroads hate graffiti as much as anyone but it's not even worth the time for them to do anything about it. Also most railroad cars are owned by other people and leased. I think the bank western union owns the most railroad cars.
