- Welcome to Tim Dickinson's BN model railroad. In this video, we take a close look at operations on the layout and follow 2 mainline freight trains as they make their way over the mountain pass. Thanks for watching!

It is like a punch in the gut to know that the creator of such a masterpiece has passed. I am so glad you were able to meet him and help share this work of art with us all. R.I.P. Tim
Rest in peace, Tim. We all miss you. Thank you for the impact you had on our favorite hobby.
As a non modeller this layout is mind blowing. I have no idea how you could conceive and build such a thing. The narration and filming does justice such a wonderful piece of art.
There's nothing you can hold for very long
RIP Tim and what a beautiful Model Railroad Legacy he left us !!!
RIP Tim.. Great video of a great layout.
I first met Tim in Kindergarten at Sunflower Elementary School in Glendora. I don't remember our first conversation, but I'm sure it involved trains. Tim gave me my love of trains and model railroading (and my first kitten!). He opened his heart and house to so many model railroaders. He is greatly missed. R.I.P. my friend...
Dang. So sad to hear of Tim's passing. He was definitely a master of his craft and his beautiful layout really does the Pacific Division justice. I wasn't around in '76, but I really feel like I'm transported back there when I see this layout.
I was very heavily inspired by Tim's Layout, I never had the chance to meet him but his work always got the creative fire burning. It is sad to hear of his passing but his layout and work will always stay with me
How beautiful! I have always loved this layout and it has been one of my biggest inspirations. R.I.P. Tim.
Amazing work.
I love this layout. I watch several videos of it. My heart is heavy to hear of Tim’s passing. RIH😢😢
Yes RIP Tim. Thanks, it was a pleasure to meet you and operate on your beautiful railroad. Frank Kenny.
So sad to hear of his passing. What a great model railroader and former railroader. The hobby will surely miss a man of his talents. I hope his grand layout that was his pride and joy can be preserved in some kind of fashion. God bless his family. Tim G
Very sad to hear of Tim’s passing of pancreatic cancer. He was a great modeler and a great friend of model railroading. God bless Tim and my thoughts are with his family and friends.
16:20 That has got to be one of the best looking nighttime seems I have ever seen. This man was a very talented modeler, my he Rest In Peace.
He set a new standard!
I absolutely love how the early feel of BN was captured by Tim with the eclectic lash-ups of power needed to get tonnage over the road. A truly great layout.
This is just amazing. All of it. And the sound is so realistic.
Tim was a great modeler but an even better person! I was fortunate to meet him and visit his layout. All green signals ahead Tim, RIP!
Truly one of the greatest layouts of all time
I’ve literally watched videos for years of this layout. Was one of the big reasons I got so deep into BN along with my SF diesel fleet. Bittersweet to rewind 50 years on my new layout but I’m sure I’ll have an excuse to run them every so often
This layout is one of the best I’ve seen. Tim rest in peace and fly high. You not only inspired me but inspired my fictional bn layout called the Florence Subdivision of Florence North Dakota
What a great layout. Sorry to hear of Mr. Tim's passing. Sending his loved ones and friends prayers.
Those C415s are absolutely stunning, the sheer effort that likely went into that pair alone is only scratching the surface of what appears to have gone into the entirety of the layout
What a legacy Tim left for the world. Thank you for bringing it to us.
Simply AMAZING!! Y'all inspire me sooooo much! Still in the planning stage on my n scale railroad which will be based on The PRR and the line from Bellwood PA through the Altoona yard and shops, Horseshoe Curve and on to Tunnel Hill. I will be running steam on up to modern equipment. The bench work will be starting in the fall. Anyways, Please keep the videos coming¡
So sorry to hear of Tims passing. I always enjoyed watching his videos. Rest in peace dear friend.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Simply stunning work.......the trees alone look magnificent..... incredible attention to detail ....
Awesome layout, i live in that general area and can see BNSF all the time, awesome representation.
his spirit now rides in the locomotive cabs of those trains.
BN at its best.....what a layout.....,
Super layout. I am glad you could revisit it Josh. R.I.P. Tim.
Very beautiful video friends thank you share this beautiful model Railroad layouts friends 💜
Man that’s so sad, he has a real good attention to detail with anything he did, I’m sure he inspired many model railroaders Rest In Peace Tim.
Oh no that is sad news :-( i gained a lot of inspiration from his modelling when i saw his layout on CZcams in the past, even though i am in the UK & model the UK scene. RIP Tim
Really a shame about Tim's passing, way too young for this to happen (only 5 years of retirement).
I wonder if Paul will be allowed to save this magnificent work of art.
The man that created this masterpiece was a genious if God call 'em because He don't need competition. Greetings from Chile.
RIP Tim, you left quite a remarkable effort for all of us to enjoy. Hat tip, too on the production for this video. Every aspect matches the quality of Tim's legacy. It is quite simply one of the most professional productions I have seen in this sector. Arguably, the best. Congrats to all involved and thank you for the time well spent in viewing the work.
Hopefully his masterpiece lives on. What a wonderful layout.
Great Layout and editorial to the Tim R.I.P.
Back about 1990 on a siding track north of Lebanon , OHIO(ex PRR) rested a locomotive that was used for switching the line.
It was a "pure" BN RS11.
No alteration of the paint job at all.
Have often wondered what ever happened to it.
For many years former C&O GP7 operated this line. I&O GP 7 55 is the oldest operating GP 7 in the USA.
Absolutely Stunning!!! Amazing work.
I'm from the PNW ( Pacific Northwest) ,what a layout nicely done Tim.. RIP Tim
R.I.P Tim, you truly were a Master
Model Railroader!!! Thanks for the
video Josh, I remember your other
video of this layout and the ones
still floating around CZcams!!!!
S.I.P Tim. Thank you for your contribution to the entire Model Railroading Society. Rest well.
Exxcellent excellent Photography. Very well done *****
You have to love Tim's "dog pack" locomotive consists....
Excellent video.

Super detail and realism as how trains operate in open yards.

Absolutely incredible layout !!! I am sorry to hear that he is gone. May he rest in peace. I'm sure his memory and love of model trains will not be forgotten.
Chuck
What a delightful way to spend part of my day. I learned a lot. I'm sorry to hear of the passing of your friend. It's hobbyists like him that keep me going in my own endeavors. Thank you for posting this.
Amazing layout 👏👏
The audio for this is amazing. To catch this, Tim must have been either a railroader or a very active modeler. The way the sounds are represented are mind blowing, from the sounds of notch 8, the air "snaps", air horns and the dynamic brake noises of the locos, though the high pitched whine of metal upon metal in the curves along with the rumble of empty cars and the rattle of wheels across the jointed track. Love this! I worked as a crew transporter for BNSF, UP and Amtrak and smaller roads in the Pacific NW.
Tim was both, but the audio in the video was added in post. It's sounds of real trains, not the models.
Absolutely lovely video and a fabulous tribute to a person who I have never met and never even heard of until seeing your earlier layout tour. RIP a fellow member of our great hobby.
i LOVE the way you tell "stories" while cutting this videos Josh. Thanks for your work and effort. I extremely enjoy to watch this kind of layout tours.
cheers. may he rest in peace
I didn't realize he had passed away and I recall this sense of loss when hearing of modelers I grew up admiring during my active modeling years in 80's and 90's. Such modelers are far and few between... You were quite fortunate indeed to capture all of this beautifully detailed layout that was not only superb in appearance but also exceptionally interesting from an operating standpoint. The old Alcos, first and second generation power (a hodge-podge after the merger, of course), the lighting (from overall to the signs and signals) were simply incredible. Thanks for sharing this.
Man I'm gonna miss taking to Tim at WPM. Sad to get the news this way. Glad you posted however.
The variety of motive power is fascinating!
Absolutely great video. Bravo, more, more.
That was an amazing tribute. Thank you for this
Love the Hodgepodge of power on those trains.
Rest Tim. Wonderful modeling, mega talent, you've been an inspiration for me
Thanks 👍 MRCIII.
Wow! That is an impressive model Railroad. 👍
Thank you Josh for bringing Tim's beautiful layout to us! His attention to detail is spectacular. The rail joiners, the impeccably detailed scenery, the lighting and on and on... I appreciate your using this as a tribute to Tim, but you are now charged with filling his shoes and doing a masterful job of it! Your layout and videos of other's layouts is bringing our hobby to a new level. Thank you!
Such a gorgeous layout!
Absolutely awesome 👏
I love those center cabs, high-nose Alcos, and other members of the "dog pack" loco lashups. It's sad to hear about Tim's passing. He was a great modeler.
Great footage Josh and very beautiful layout! - Jason
Very nice layout. Amazing...👍😁
The layout is beautiful, R.I.P Tim
Very cool! Thx from germany!
Excellent layout with everything. Seen the pole wires, some people don't attach them. Makes a difference. 👍👍.
Great buildings too.
Awesome my favorite BN 👍👏🙌
The real train recordings, timed with the models movements, is a really cool addition and so authenic!!
Ll..?
Simply amazing! Hopefully the layout will find a new home.
This layout and video are so good that I watch this on a slower speed just to take it all in better.
Really nice dedication at the end Josh! Tim's modeling was legendary!
fantastic layout!
Incredible
R.I.P Tim
Deep sorrow and did not expect to hear that about Mr D
I absolutely love that layout! Sad about the news... but last Monday I got to see the Scale Trains Road Trip at my local club in Cadwell Idaho!
