For a while, Champ Kong for PC was the closest you were going to get to the arcade game without having an arcade board. I was really impressed with how close it came to the arcade game.
Still, my favorite Arcade game 42 years later. I think the NES port does display DK's comeuppance the best.
Agreed. The fact that the NES version gives Donkey Kong a little arm and leg movement after falling down gives it a slight superiority over the original arcade version.
@@jackson2531 Didn't the NES version omit some levels though?
@@user-bk9fk2tq2zone level. The pie factory
Yes, you are correct.
@@user-bk9fk2tq2zyou can buy a nes dk cartilage (or cartage idk how to spell it) with all 4 levels atleast
I remember Pauline having a pink dress back then, but in newer games today, she has a red dress

I think the MS-DOS version is one of the most horrifying games I have ever seen.
I remember the Apple II version, done by Atarisoft, they did a few conversions (the C-64 they did was impressive).
I remember when DK got back up in "Donkey Kong '94" (and if everyone hinted, that was really a grown DK Jr., and he now had a "chimp off the old block" as his hench-ape) and said "This ain't over, Mario!" That one had DK use poison mushrooms to Super-Size himself, and you had to bonk his head with barrels to end his reign of terror:
Fun fact: "Donkey Kong" was originally supposed to have Popeye, Bluto and Olive instead of Mario the Brave Carpenter (he didn't become a plumber until the original "Mario Bros."), Donkey Kong and Pauline/Lady. King Features Syndicate, however, wasn't sure the relatively new field of video games was good for them, so that's when Nintendo went with Mario, DK and Pauline. When King Features saw how much a hit "Donkey Kong" was, they told Nintendo they wanted to do a game--and "Popeye" came to be.
E la semana que van Donkey Kong Minions y cómo a qué hora te aburras se va Apple ll que van Donkey Kong y cómo te aburras el tiempo en la cabeza de estar a la vuelta de estar a tu disposición Paula
Arcade version:
Pauline: Thank you, Mario.
Mario: You're welcome.
Donkey Kong: Ooh, I'll get you next time.
Game Boy version:
Pauline: Thank you, Mari...
Donkey Kong: Too late. You're coming with me.
Mario: Oh no! Hey, where do you think you're going with my precious lady? Come back here!
Pauline: HELP!!!!
Donkey Kong: Sorry, Mario, but she is mine now!
**takes Pauline to the city and Mario chases after him**
Mario: Oh, that does it, DK! If you continue to run away with Pauline, I swear I'll take that stupid barrel and throw it right at that ugly face of yours!
**crashes at locked door and gets dizzy**
Mario: Oh, mamma mia.
**key drops onto the floor and Mario picks it up**
Mario: I got it! Let's-a-go!
Donkey Kong isn't ugly, he's a nice and handsome gorilla!
4:19 I’m speechless.
The VIC20, despites its limitations, has an awesome animation of DK falling with the platforms below, and also the sound of his fall is amazing. Seems like that concept of the falling platforms isn't found in any other contemporary ports, neither in the NES version.
I remember another version on Amstrad CPC where Donkey Kong's head was still shown upright, when the rest of him was upside down when he falls on the last level.
I love how in the retro Game & Watch games DK just goes plop.
I like how on apple mario looks like he is running with his hands like 🥷
5:17 DK: "Ha! you thought it was over, didn't you!"
Man I didn't even know Donkey Kong was on so many consoles/systems back then.
Vic-20 2:19

Fun fact the original donkey kong is cranky kong in donkey kong country.
I had the Ocean release version of DONKEY KONG for my Commodore 64 as a tape version in the original box release 😺👍🕹️.
But then i made a stupid - REALLY, REALLY STUPID! - mistake and sold it away at a flea market couple of years ago 😹.
Also, the NES version of a defeat in DONKEY KONG is the best 😺👍🕹️.
Ohh, what a shame! I still have my game & watch

Here comes the ending.
0:52 That's why VH1 put Donkey Kong in I Love 1983 Strikes Back!!
My two favorite versions of Donkey Kong are are the arcade and the Atari 400/800
I luv this game so much!! :D
As Sonic too...i'm a big fan of him!!
The game boy version pretty cool how he takes the princess back
Final round complete sound was funny for Apple II 🤣😂
Mario, come back! Delete your letters to numbers of Nintendo. I will punch you!! 👊 Atarisoft goes Pauline, II03!
Arcade: alright. Now try it on a higher difficulty which is coming up.
Gameboy: Oh you think this is the end? Ha. You've just begun
The Vic 20 is the first that got the animation right. Kept thinking, why don't they show the building collapse? Then Gameboy took it to another level.
Donkey Kong looks like some kinda of mummy sasquatch monster in some of these ports. Definitely NOT a gorilla. 😂
But man, watching these makes me want to break out my emulators and play some of the old games from the 80s and 90s PCs.
Can you do the ports comparison video of Crazy Climber?. At the end of the video, I want to see the Arcade Archives version (PS4 or Switch) being included.
Yes, I'll try to.

Donkey Kong por VIC-20 tiene pupilas blancas porque Mario no tiene ojos para mirar, tiene 1 bit ese sonido. Donkey Kong for VIC-20 has white pupils because Mario has not got eyes for see, Has 1 bit this sound.
But where is Colecovision and Atari o 2600?
Nothing beats the arcade version. Love it all the way especially on the Nintendo switch.
Yep, the arcade version is my favourite.
DK 1981 is Cranky Kong and DK Jr. is DKC Donkey Kong. Diddy is that Donkey's nephew.
what is the music in your intro?
Juhani Junkala Retro Game Music Pack level 1
Thank you so much! I've been looking for this song forever! ❤

I like the orchid one
That means you win.
What can you say? In the Game Boy, that's a different one.

Do you see obunga knuckles?
6:17 The Donkey Kong 64 version is better.
The two prizes for playing the Donkey Kong arcade in Frantic Factory are the Golden Banana and the Nintendo Coin.

VIC - 20 / V-2 (1983)
6:21 sounds like the arcade game
Honestly, the first version of donkey Kong I was good enough at to beat level 4 was the Gameboy version, so when I learned most of the others just looped after that point I guess I felt lucky to get to experience the other parts most missed out on
No atari 2600 or intellivision?
Those versions don't have the final animation
@@retrosutra lol, my memory says there is, but realty says there isn't.
You missed a version: There is a version of the game on the Intellivision that you left out.
If I didn't include this version is because It don't have the animation.

Existe una versión Bootleg del Arcade en donde Donkey Jong al caer dice: "I GIVE UP" ("Me rindo"), no aparecen las estrellitas girando alrededor de su cabeza.
It's Crazy kong
And it's semi-bootleg
The gameboy and super game boy have continue the endings.
PC DOS (1983)
Arcade: DK has a swoll back.
Game & Watch: Oof. The corners have got to hurt.
NES: DK has a normal back now, and he has no concussion!
PC DOS: Sully levitates veerrryyyy slowly to the girders.
PC DOS (CGA Composite): Sully levitates veerrryyyy slowly to the girders in completely different colors.
C64 (Atarisoft): DK gives up, and doesn't react.
Atari 8-bit family: DK swallows Pauline as a last ditch effort, but falls anyway.
VIC-20: DK's weight broke the stage, and caused a funeral.
Apple II: Mutant Ram levitates veerrryyyy slowly to the girders in a PC DOS palette swap.
Coleco Adam: DK shows his biceps, and gets a concussion. Also, it feels weird the ColecoVision didn't have the cutscene, and thus isn't on here.
C64 (Ocean): RoboApe makes a soft landing on the head.
Amstrad CPC: Basically just the Arcade version.
ZX Spectrum: The Hunchback must fall.
MSX: The Hunchback must grow human skin and fall faster.
FDS: Same as the NES, but on a credit card.
Atari 7800: All aboard the Donkey Express! Choo choo!
GB: DK: "Ok, no. It's not ending like this again for the 17th time!"
SGB: It's just the enhanced GB version.
G&WG2 (Classic): Same as the Game & Watch, but heckin' pixelated
G&WG2 (Modern): DK should learn not to kidnap Peach. That's Bowser's thing.
N64 (DK64): Same as the Arcade, but DK gets his Banana! (1 like, 1 extra banana)
Nintendo e-Reader: Same as the FDS, but it's not worth the effort of getting the game to work.
G&WG4 (Classic): Same as G&WG2, but it was thrown onto this collection to give more playability.
G&WG4 (Modern): DK learns his lesson for the 2nd time, and gets dropped for the 22nd time. He should really consider retirement.
GBA: Same as Nintendo e-Reader, but far more convenient.
NDS: Man, Nintendo loves rereleasing the Game & Watch version, don't they?
Wii/3DS: Wow, Nintendo loves rereleasing the NES version even more, don't they?
Coleco Adam / CA (1984)
The commodore64 ocean looks like the acrade but low quality
