It will help people like me who can't ride bike due to a permanent disability get back on a bike.
Yes! Yamaha's new technology is about enhancing the riding experience for everyone, regardless of physical challenges. It's fantastic to see innovations like this making riding accessible and enjoyable for more people.
You have other, much bigger challenges than shifting, man. If you have a disability in your lower body, you can't ride any two-wheeled vehicle safely any way.
@@911Salvage Highly untrue, and tech like this helps the differently abled, I think its awesome
@@themoderncaferacer2264 how is my statement untrue?
@@911Salvagegoogle Wayne Rainey. 3x World 500cc GP champion. On Yamahas too!
I think shifting gears in Bike on high speeds is the biggest adrenaline rush..... The sound and feel of changing gears satisfies the soul.... I don't know how many of u will agree
At least I agree
no
Well its nice that these technologies isn't forced on, you the rider can choose when to be manual when to be automatic.
No
@itsyaboishiba well, using the fingers to do so is a LOT less interesting. It's like I'm riding my bike, shifting is nothing special at this point I prefer to use auto...
Well, good to see Yamaha finally catching up to Honda.
tvs jive
Yamaha had this tech since 06 on the FJR1300AE.
@@bhaveshsoni7401 who even considers it?
@@7mpowerd Yeah, THAT bike, used a conventional gearbox, with electric actuators to select gears and operate the clutch.
Honda's DCT, (as all DCTs) is a whole, DIFFERENT STORY. It's another type of gearbox all together. It does have some disadvantages, mainly added cost, and weight (around 10 kgs), but the advantages are huge. Whether you like it, or not, is a personal preference.
Yamahas Y-AMT is more like Honda's "e-clutch" than it is a DCT.
It looks (from what I've read) that it's still a typical manual box, with electric actuators.
These systems, are a lot cheaper to build, and offer similar advantages, but USUALLY, they are nowhere near as fast as an actual DCT.
That being said, it has to be tested for actual results and opinions to be formed.
PS. Either way, for spirited driving, the 6-speed "1N23456" sequential with a proper quick-shift setup, is king for me.
For everyday use, I wouldn't mind the bike doing the work for me though.
Not even close
I think this is a good direction, to keep motorcyclists around.
Not gonna lie, it's a frustrating effort the first time I learn manual transmission. After 10.000km it's become second Nature and I love it
I'm glad that many motorcycle companies are trying to bridge the experience holistically.
At last!
Honda África Twin DCT had no rival until today!
"At last" will be when we see this working. So far this is only ad.
@@podunkman2709how hard could it be anyways...🤷. İ think Yamaha will put it off smh...
The triple soud with an automatic sound. I will love it.
Now i have the Tracer 9GT '24 but my next bike will have an automatic gearbox because I had spent a few hours with the Africatwin Adventuresport DCT. I fell in love with the automatic gearbox.
This is what i want! Some people don't need that "gear shifting adrenaline rush".. we just want to cruise around with a motorcycle in between our legs.
Be interesting to see what motorcycles these go on. I rather like blipping the throttle on downshifts on my Yamaha
Stay tuned to find out!
@@yamahamotoreu I'll take a guess. All models with CP2 engine will get it. Then, if numbers add up, you'll phase it to CP3.
@@dIsAstErTR Don't give them any ideas...
I would be more inclined to use left foot lever. Make that double up as a switch like the finger buttons.
@@yamahamotoreu Tracers ;)
I love Yamaha
Standard gearboxes will never go away for the simple reasons of price to produce and over a century of rider generations conditioned to them. DCT, E-Clutches and other automated transmissions will fill gaps in the bike market (Elder riders, returning riders, beginners, commuting centric, curious drivers, disabled, etc.) Performance of faster shifting aside Team Blue knows this. Very interested to see which models this will be used on as well as if it makes it to the States. 🇺🇸 🏍
oh if they bring this in the scooter as well, it will be spectacular!
Love my RHS 4 speed gear box with unique neutral finder ( yes u guessed it right it's the Bullet)
Will the R9 and tenere900 be equipped with it?
I see what you did there.

Nice try... nobody's listening though...

Tenere 900!!!?😂😂
Oh yeah 😍🔥
This will put a big change, AT when at flat surface, MT when up/downhill
I'm interested to see how it feels. If it's a true Automatic Manual it won't be as quick/nice as Honda's DCT, but thats not necessarily a bad thing. I'm sure it'll be lighter and easier to work on than a DCT.
Will it be available on fz-s v4 in india?
Gear shift drum look like DCT+ Clutch lift look like E clutch ?
Sounds good.
These bikes will be riding themself soon and take all the fun out of actual riding, I do see the benefits though for ageing/disabled riders etc
Or just people who don’t want to deal with shifting. Not everyone wants to “merge with their machine”.
@@SimonRiley752 shifting can throw you off the bike its stresful and i would buy an automatic supersport bike
I have two bikes, one 600cc for trip days and one 150cc CVT scooter for daily commute in busy traffic (low speed handling is the worst experience on a sportbike). Now one bike with this YAMT system can replace those two bikes. And it's not like AT is forced, you can always switch to MT when you want some adrenaline. Isn't it perfect?
DSG gearbox in yamaha version.. which market? Asean or europe
I LOVE YAMAHAAAAAA
So its like a pedal shift?
Hopefully, a foot shifter option is available.
true
Please Yamaha say you will bring this on MT 15 anytime

Hiç bir şey anlaşılmıyor videodan. Sizi tebrik ediyorum!
Welcome 🤗
excellent work
We appreciate your support! The Y-AMT represents a new chapter in our commitment to innovation and performance. Keep an eye out for more details soon!
Good job Yamaha 👍
Put it on a Tracer 9 I buy it. I ride on Honda DCT and absolutely love the experience
Way to go ❤love yamaha
can be use on Yamaha R9?????
This is a game changer, how they can implement this fast.
Hope it’s more reliable then it was on the fjr1300AE I had. After that I’ll never go auto clutch again.
Hope to see it soon on the big bikes and at an affordable price not like Honda's DTC with no options in India.
Is it equivalent to Honda dct ?
Congratulations Yamaha for new innovations ❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰🥰🥰
will it come to india?
Similar with DCT ?
Great move
Greag for people who are disabled in some way or people who simply dont want a manual. Hoenstly if they still offer the usual manual i dont see a problem with it.
I like my clutch
then keep it. why are you watching it?

So, is it not DCT or is it?

Cool
we want hybrid tech on motorcycle as well for improving power and milage.

I think shifting on your own hands thats bad i still prefer use my leg to do it just like quick shifter
If it's as good as the Africa Twin DCT then we're in for a treat.
🎉🎉🎉
The shifters kinda look like the ones installed on Mountain Bikes 😁
So I'll come full circle to MTB-Type shifting after transitioning to motorcycles after all this years lmao... I kinda miss it tbh.
Give me both auto and manual. Let me switch between manual and auto clutch. Perfect balance.
Is the yamaha r9 really confirmed
Bruh, this was my UG final year project 😭
Will this have a 8 month wait too, like all other Yamaha products?
Cool I will be patiently waiting for a Chinese version of this that's actually affordable 😁
which models will this be available in ?
Stay tuned to find out more!
Every car company change manual to automatic (most of new generation people never wanna drive manual) today you build motorcycles into automatic people are weakness
I day drive Yamaha but I like your all kind of technology be (YCCT,YPVS,VVA)
Yamaha's answer to honda's e- clutch?
choice is what matters...
hope will see it on next T-MAX
That already has fully automatic CVT transmission, no gearbox to impement this...why would you want a fully automatic to bexome a semi-automatic? :)
@@silkkish To give T-Max fans the possibility to shift gears, as Honda X-ADV and Forza 750 fans, do. If they keep the belt final transmission combined with a 6 gears robotized gearbox, on the T-Max, it would made its transmission more compact than it is now, and better than the Hondas I mentioned.
@@1zanglang but no
T-Max fans want an automatic gearbox :) Otherwise, they wouldn't continue selling like hot cakes in Europe, well above X-ADV
Intelligent Quick Shifter 😅
How much weight and cost will this add?
2.8 kilos, idk exactly the weight but it nearly 3 kilos
These are more required on commuter bikes which spend a lot of time in slow moving traffic where frequent gear shifting tires the rider
X-Max or T-max new transmission ? 😮
Looks like E-Clutch made by Honda?
No. The Honda e-clutch only operates the clutch. The rider still needs to manually shift with the gear lever. Yamaha's solution looks like it's fully automatic with a "see-saw" switch on the bars for optional manual shifting.
@@RokRovan Incorrect. Using the clutch and gear lever is optional with Honda's E-Clutch system. So if you want to use it as a conventional motorcycle, you can. If you don't, you don't have to. Honda's system does not have the see-saw switch on the bars though.
More like Honda DCT
We've minimized clutch operation with technologies like A&S and Quickshifter (QS) to let riders focus on enjoying the ride. QS-equipped models are mainly used for necessary clutch operations at starts, stops, and low speeds. We've removed the clutch lever to perfect the riding experience, eliminating the need to worry about it during these moments.
Yes is like honda dct. 15 years late more a less!
Hope was like e-clutch for who wants to switch for an old school mode since in a while.😔
E-clutch wins.
Creo que que es una buena innovación pero para motos de circuito totalmente. 👍🏻
Có trên dòng 300 cc thì hay dễ tiếp cận
Apply to XSR 155 please
14 years after Honda, well done 😂
Hopefully this will come this year, at least to scooters and commuters, and not to big machines, then it will loose the essence of riding them. But great initiative.
Ahhh a jet ski on land
There's one difference between this, and the DCT system Honda developed 15/20 years ago. The Honda DCT actually works.
Just make me a turbo Yzf-r1 already

isnt this same as Honda DCT?😅
Apakah ada featur di Indonesia.._?

pleas put this on R3 so i can ride :D
the up and down shift on the left side handlebar should have been the other way around!
Nope. They did the right way this time. Unlike their previous attempt with FJR1300AS where shifts was indeed the other way around.
@@motocritic But it makes no sense, you should push FORWARD to go faster not push back to go forward...
@@Waldo1122, nope. When you are accelerating forward the G-forces is pulling your body backward - so it's easier for you to pull the gearshift lever back rather than pushing it forward at that moment. When you are braking the G-forces is pushing your body forward - so it's easier for you to push the gearshift lever forward rather than pulling it back at that moment. This is exactly why racecar sequential gearboxes works this way: you pull the lever back to raise the gear, and push the lever forward to lower the gear. Same principle is adopted over here on Y-AMT, and on Honda DCT as well. Because this is the right way how it should be.
@@motocritic Never thought of it that way, I used the paddle shifters on the Can-Ams and it just felt more natural.
@@Waldo1122, that's why Can-Am made the wrong pattern. Yamaha also did this on the FJR1300AS, but they corrected themself with this new Y-AMT
sounds like mt 07?
cp3, this switch gear is only on the cp3 platform, so probably not coming for the mt07. maybe theyll make it like the cruise control for mt09 and tracer where the SP/GT has it

@@yamahamotoreu waiting earlier
I don't understand why one get rid of the foot gear lever, just keep it, shifting with your foot feels more natural than shifting with your thumb...
Thank you for your thoughts! Our decision to focus on thumb shifting stems from extensive development and feedback. Hand shifting allows for greater precision and responsiveness, enhancing the overall riding experience by keeping the left foot more securely positioned on the footpeg for stability. This design choice aims to provide riders with a more immersive and intuitive connection with the bike, optimizing performance and enjoyment on the road.
@@yamahamotoreu I understand, still I'm quite sure if you offered foot shifting as a option to choose, people will buy it.
