This mission in particular presents several challenges that do a great job at tossing your plans out the window due to an unexpected ambush or counterattack. The key to winning this mission and achieving the medal is to know where certain sections of the map will trigger a response.
Timing is everything here. I suggest capturing the lower sections asap and avoid the left side of the map. If you’re playing on Expert you won’t have time to mess around trying to take out all the forward bases. The AI will not advance on you from the South so you don’t need to worry about it. To start things off just do what I do in the start by building a supply depot, tank depot (this will call in a Sherman Crocodile and Calliope for free upon completion), and finally a Motor Pool. As your engineers get the base going use the riflemen squads to capture territory to the East, and secure those fallen Pak guns to handle any armor you’ll encounter. Send over a half-track to replenish any lost squad members.
Meanwhile, use the Sherman Croc to clear those MG42 ambushes in the hedges and any bunkers while you’re at it for easy exp. Once it’s safe have the engineers capture the munition points and build outposts to boost their resources. This will be your only source of munitions so make sure it’s taken fast so your Rangers can be upgraded with Thompson SMGs and to use the off-map artillery.
Once you’re done send a tank over to the north-eastern corner where your captured AT guns, remaining riflemen, and half-track are waiting. Three Panzer IVs will chase after whatever you send (I suggested the Calliope because it’s limited use won’t do much for you here) so use this to your advantage. Setup mines and a kill zone so they take side/rear hits from those Pak guns you commandeered. The riflemen, while ineffective on their own, are great for spotting and can toss sticky bombs to slow down/immobilize the tanks.
Afterwards, push up and eliminate the upgraded half-track armed with Stukas. I suggest using a fast unit to bait out its barrage so you can pull those AT guns up to blast it away in two shots. If you move the Calliope and/or Crocodile a nearby Panzer IV while pursue them like the previous 3 did. Again, use that to your advantage and have the AT guns ready to capitalize on their reckless zeal.
Next thing you’ll want to do afterwards is entirely destroy the Axis forward base. Even if you capture the fuel point it’s on and revert it back to a regular building if any Axis squads retreat to it the game will instantly capture it again and deploy another Stuka half-track and Panzer IV. I haven’t tried capturing it as my own forward HQ to see if it prevents this, but I wouldn’t risk the game cheating again so demolition it is.
One of the best ways to capture the hill is to soften up the defenses with constant artillery bombardment. Target where the bunkers should be as well as the Pak-guns and blobs of infantry. Two howitzers should be more than enough to get the job done so long as you keep them well defended. Just make sure to save at least 150 munitions at all times so you can call an off-map strike that will be far more accurate than your howitzers.
Once you move North on the main road the AI will begin to send counter forces to push you out. So be ready for Grenadiers and 2 Panzer IV tanks for the initial attack. Use the Crocodile to tank any Panzer shots and burn infantry while supported by your AT guns and Riflemen. It’s at this point you’ll want to setup your Howitzers along the hedgerow so they’ll be at their most accurate without direct risk of attack. Whenever you have the chance start launching onto the Hill’s final defenses. You need to soften them up to make the assault smooth as possible.
It’s at this point I advise saving the game if you have at least 10 minutes left. I didn’t do it for the sake of the challenge and cinematic purposes, but it will help to not have to start over if you mess up or have really bad RNG.
Provided you have a Crocodile with the Bulldozer upgrade still alive or made a new one, start knocking those hedges down and destroy any bunkers/defenses/counter attacks. Use a standard Sherman tank for backup. If a Grenadier squad upgraded with a Panzerschreck shows up, either run them over or pull back so your infantry can take them out. You do not want to be replacing fallen tanks and wait for them to drive all the way from the base to join the final push with little time left.
Once you advance far enough the worst part of this mission will commence: that goddamn artillery spotting tower that will call down rocket bombardments on your units. Normally it wouldn’t be that much of a problem, but despite destroying the tower the AI will still be able to call down the strikes as if you did nothing. I suggest avoiding it to save time because the devs didn’t feel the need to fix this obvious oversight. To avoid your entire force being crippled or wiped out entirely, make sure to push up in separate groups. If you blob your units up their pathfinding will most likely cause them to collide and that alone can cost you the medal.
There’s two ways most people will advance onto Hill 192 for the final push. They’ll take the far left side of the map and destroy the hedgerows there to push on the left side. Or they’ll try to move in from the south for a direct assault. Both of these are very tricky and risky for their own reasons.
On the left side it takes a long time to have any reinforcements arrive if you mess up and it’s a long stretch to maneuver around hedgerows and dodge artillery. However, if you can manage that there’s no Pak guns facing that way and you won’t need to worry about any Anti-tank countermeasures save for maybe one squad of Panzerschreck grenadiers.
The direct route is easily the riskier, albeit quicker, route. There’s two Pak guns and a Panzer IV ready to tear your armor apart while several tank barricades will slow your forces down. Even if your howitzers are firing on those locations their accuracy won’t guarantee the way will be clear so be cautious if that’s the way you decide to push up.
However, I’ve discovered a far more optimal route. Next to the artillery spotting tower is a hedgerow you can knock over and has a direct curve to push on the left flank without the draw back of its longer route. Still, make sure to push up in separate groups so your units aren’t blocking each other and being blown up by an unlucky rocket strike.
When going in for the capture it will take 30 seconds for your infantry to secure it. The Rangers’ fire-up ability will speed it up. Hopefully your howitzers and off-map strike is ready to go so you can unleash hell on the highest concentration of remaining defenses. If you’re about to lose the medal just go all in. Make sure you support the squad capturing it and have another ready to jump in if they pull back or perish. Every second counts here. Good luck. Enjoy!
Say, do you know the freeware game Iji?
@@michaelandreipalon359 can’t say that I do.
@@StarMarshal Well... go try to Google the game. I can't explain it well without spoilers, and that game is a doozy despite being indie and freeware.
I really enjoy these huge explanations you give to teach us what you know about the game in detail.
@@colossus1012 Same.
That push was nicely precise and aggressive. Well done. Was cool seeing you adapt to the sudden loss of the Calliope with double Howitzers to blast that final position.
As callous as it sounds that Calliope dying was a calculated move. It doesn’t perform well enough for me to keep around so I used it as live bait for that Panzer IV so I could free up some population space.
Reminds me of Ender Wiggins' methods, your sacrificial tactic.
@@StarMarshal Ahh, that makes more sense. No wonder you didn't prioritize repairing it.
@@QueenSydon yeah, there’s a reason behind almost everything I do here. The calliope is more of a detriment than help to you here so it’s essentially Panzer IV fodder.
Goddamn what a wild mission that was. The tone is set so well at the start. Wish more missions were like this that gave the player a sense of pure dread before it's even begun.
Masterful work on capturing that hill.
Had to make sure it looked good compared to last time.
Excellent episode. By far the most anticipated for me. Loved every second of it. RIP Charlie Company.
Almost thirty minutes have passed, and it's done?! Seriously, not even CoD and MoH veteran gamers can accomplish a hill capture that quickly!
Well they gave me a challenge so I had to abide by it.
I love the way the vehicles just ram into the fences and bushes and just trample em. I can't imagine thats good for even a tank to do but..maybe it is? I dunno. Great strategy either way, and very fun watch :D
Depends on what it’s running over. The armor itself is fine I’m sure, but wouldn’t want anything messing up the treads. It is very satisfying to trap infantry into a corner and squish them.
Did you seriously trick that Panzer 4 into driving over those mines? That's amazing!
ngl that was pretty slick. Shame it didn't immobilize it then and there.
That was some great micro and good to see more mixed unit tactics.
Every time I tried to win the medal the germans used to destroy my soldiers with rockets when they were taking the hill (I even destroyed the rocket base in the west) . I always lost the medal vecause of that :c. Nice video
That’s why you just ignore the tower and send in the attack force in small groups. Their bad pathfinding will cause them to bunch up if you send too many together. Try to bait it out with a tank or light vehicle then move up. Just have to know when and where to strike.
This was always the mission my friends and I would be afraid of going back to. For some reason that opening really made the mission very tense even though it's kinda easy when you look back on it. Well to be fair it was on normal, but still... those ambushes and surprise goliaths would freak anyone out.
I know exactly what you mean. Hebecrevon is pretty good with that as well.
great work capturing that hill 👏🏽😮💨
just perfect man!
Thanks! Hope you're still enjoying the series =]
@@StarMarshal i do! cant wait to see the other factions campagins :)
Love your videos !!! 😊
Thank you! I highly appreciate the support.
In 29:07 the gunner of the Panzer went flying 😂😂
I felt it that mission you passed it quickly you are doing great
Tip: there is a German knights cross infantry squad at the top of the hill that when killed will stop the off map rocket strike when your units are moving up the hill. They are very resilient and nimble so if you get artillery up fast enough you can bombard them over time and eventually kill them. Thus allowing you to bum rush up the hill much easier. They appear at 27:42 when they start shooting his tank.
That's why it kept coming in? Wow, that's really good to know for future reference.
Franks is not scared of the corpses lying around. He was scared because he imagined how his comrades got wiped out.
15:36 that was brutal :/
Why could the Germans still call the artillery after taking out the tower?
I think it's bugged to be honest. Just have to keep an ear out so your units won't get wasted unexpectedly.
There is a German infantry squad at the top of the hill called knights cross that will call rocket artillery in as long as they are alive.
15:33 he knows he fucked up at this moment
Had to bait that one so it wouldn't go for the tank. Luckily the half-track recouped the losses very quickly.
Wtf, someone give a dislike to this masterpiece.
Unfortunate, but it is what it is.

5:26 look befor you kill this group you must sentile your anti tank group and after kill them 3 panzer attacking you
Sure bro, whatever you say lol
@@StarMarshal when you kill this group soldier or they get back
This 3 panzer moving and attacking down
if you dont kill this group soldiers, panzer no attacking to down 👇 map
You playing wrong and you traped your tank for panzer
Played well enough to beat expert and get all the medals though ;^]
this is easy mission
