StanChan Plus he recently won his first ATP title and reached the third round of the French Open after upsetting Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets in round 1, so it seems like he will eventually be ranked much higher.
boys and girls @ 3:58 the backhand jack hits down the line should be the kind you try. Relaxed and not too big, well inside the line. Most of the time people think they need to make it too close to the line or big. Pay attention as this will make you a better player. This of it as setting up an approach
@yusweetpotato2 there are also advantages to playing two hands on both sides It is not common in the tennis scene so players have to adjust there style of play to counter two hands on both sides. Did you see how frustrated Sock was getting at the end of the match? He pulled it out, but you can tell he was getting in Sock's head. And also from a technical standpoint you should know that two hands on a racquet gives more support than one hand, it makes for better balance and control over the shot
I wonder which path Jack Sock will end up fulfilling. I was a junior player in the mid - late 80's, and was a part of the greatest generation, ever. Sampras, Agassi, Courier, and Chang all turned pro instead of going to college. They all did great (obviously). Sampras became arguably the greatest ever (next to or along with Federer). But there were several other junior players who had "ok" careers (Jonathan Stark was one of them). And several others who didn't make it. I hope Sock does great.
I love how after the let call on the garbage dropshot, Jack had the exact same shot and did the much smarter shot the next point. Smart kid right there
i like that two handed forehand. looks really interesting. i don't think it has all the problems with reach that everyone says it has. most shots in tennis have problems with timing and footwork, not about having problems with reach. he uses one hand to get serves and far away balls anyways.
Got a girl in my club playing both fore and backhand with two hands, but this is the first man I've ever seen doing so. It has It's power benefits but has to pay a price for overall manouverability. I play one handed backhand aswell because of the extra manouverability.
How on earth can you play with a double handed forehand and expect to be taken seriously? Fabrice Santoro used to have one, and Raemon Sluiter from Holland. In modern tennis, both are too late for almost every shot. And this guy is completely off balance with his forehand when he hits. He literally almost falls backwards.
How can he be taken seriously? He's better than you and most every player in the world except the very very top guys so I guess he don't really care if recreational players take him seriously
Josh Carter He's put a lot more effort in being the best possible tennis player he can be, but he's not more gifted. There are probably another 5000 people on the planet with the potential of Roger Federer, but they don't even play tennis. And the ones thzt do don't put in the hours to accomplish greatness. Playing with a double handed forehand starts in childhood and is a 100% guarantee that you can not make it to the top 50 in modern tennis. Because of the simple reason that for every double handed shot you need to be in position quicker than for a one handed shot. You won't have enough time vs any competent player. I am a physiotherapist and therefore I know that the max motion range for a forehand swing is much wider one handed than 2 handed, because of the anatomy of the shoulder. This guy is also completely off balance when he strikes with his forehand, literally almost falling. It was taught completely wrong, whether you like it or not
+getoffmypage Nah not bad at taking it. You have correct points with saying he's at a disadvantage for having a double handed forehand and thst he's off balance a lot. What threw me off was that you said things like 'how can he be taken seriously' when even though he has room for improvement, he's a great tennis player who's better than 99% of the tennis population.
I feel the same way, but Sock has so much time to get better and after watching him play isner he can hit flat if he wants too unlike Roddick or Harrison who have a bit more trouble.
ugh i agree on most parts of ur comment, but little extra power for 2handed forehand? iunno, i think the one handed forehand has more power ie, more core rotations
I think its pretty good now but yeah I do agree that he probably could be a lot better if he didn't have a 2 handed. Do you have any recent news of him?
I wouldn't put too much credit towards Tomic. He doesn't play to his potential. He gave Roddick one more match at the US Open then folded equally in Davis Cup afterwards.
@wordlyfe i believe it is Sock, look at his service motion and racquet take back. probably got a new contract with babolat and wilson before this years us open
I don't think that is Jack Sock... unless this is old footage He isn't playing with the same racquet (babolat) or the same shoes/apparel (adidas) that he had at the US open.
If Jack is the guy in blue please listen to my comments. I think that you could be twice the player you are now if you concentrate on improving your leg strength and footwork! You're not getting enough extension on your serve and getting high enough off the ground. You're also a half step off your ground strokes and your generally compensating on your swing. Other than that keep it up!
I'm not sure what you mean it's the same thing as a two handed backhand on both sides. Are you trying to say that a 2 handed backhand is bad technique? Sure a 2h has less range than a 1h but it's not uncomfortable in any way.
two-handed forehands annoy me soooo much.. but gotta respect that guy he fightin tht shit. sock seems a lil arrogant, but so are a lot of high level tennis players
Jack Sock has turned out be quite able as a singles player on tour and a very good doubles player. I don't see the advantage of a 2 handed forehand. The two handed backhand has some advantages over a one handed backhand, although the backhand slice is still performed with one hand. The topspin on a two-handed backhand is frequently devastating.
@wordlyfe its obviously jack sock... do a little research, you obviously havent watched him much if you cant tell... he still is with babolat, im sure he was just demoing this wilson before he signed with babolat... and he signed a contract with adidas recently, before he wore nike all of his juniors
Just so everyone knows, the way he hits his forehand backhand will not add any stability at all. The reason you get more stability for a 2 hander vs a 1 hander is because you have a hand behind the racquet. When this person puts his left hand in front of the racquet on his forehand, nothing is achieved. I'm not saying that all forehand backhands are bad, although a poor choice in my opinion, I'm simply saying that the way this guy is doing it wil not help him.
People who are commenting on Dome's forehand think they know what they're talking about when they say that it's technically deficient. Those sort of claims are just ignorant considering the high level at which these guys are playing. In addition, done has an excellent one handed running forehand and acquitted himself well against the junior us open champion.
Roddick is a bad example here. Sock looks WAY more like Roddick than Andre, and a legit criticism of Sock's game is that he lacks variety. I don't teach my students to use a 2 handed forehand but I would teach them to run and compete like Andre did here. He has tons of variety and is a good player, unfortunately fighting a losing battle against the more talented Sock.
if only he plays one handed backhand and two handed forehand
If only he would serve 2-handed :)
Wow. Sock has gotten so much better in the past few years! If he was still at this level there's no way he would be where he is now
+Colby Tong of course. If he was at this level there is no way he'd be at another level
Yeah. This also may have been an off day for him too.
Andre Dome, he played #1 for Cal Poly..played him in juniors a few times. Very good player.
Jack Sock is now ranked #42 in the world, go figure. Wouldn't expect that from watching this vid.
This shows how far you can get even without big talent, same as andy roddick
StanChan Plus he recently won his first ATP title and reached the third round of the French Open after upsetting Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets in round 1, so it seems like he will eventually be ranked much higher.
StanChan now at the 18th place
Now top 8
andreisthemostpowerfulguy
such a good hardworking guy this double handed forehand player, really can't stop myself from appreciating his efforts.
double handed forehand?????!!?
boys and girls @ 3:58 the backhand jack hits down the line should be the kind you try. Relaxed and not too big, well inside the line. That spin at 5:36
Sean Lee I literally paused the video and scrolled down to see if anyone said anything haha.
Jack sock hits the 2nd highest topsin on tour apparently.
SoulStatement Yeah second to nadal, not by much!
Not even a big deal this spin ...
sock has a excellent serve. puts a lot of work on the ball
Lol Johnny Wang from USC with his 2 handed forehand
my boy jack sock has improved

I love how after the let call on the garbage dropshot, Jack had the exact same shot and did the much smarter shot the next point. Smart kid right there
What is the reason behind that let call?
He went to my highschool
Who even teaches a person how to do a two handed forehand?? Like where did it originate??
baseball
he is actually talking about a 2-handed Forehand
PARENTS: If you see your young child swinging at the ball with two hands on the forehand side... Force them to live in the wild for a year.
how jack hit that ball at 4:20
he is top 20 in the nation in college. i don't care if he has a 2 hander or not, he is damn good.
You know that Jack Sock is the one in the blue....
I think he might be doing Twist Serves.
i like that two handed forehand. looks really interesting. i don't think it has all the problems with reach that everyone says it has. most shots in tennis have problems with timing and footwork, not about having problems with reach. he uses one hand to get serves and far away balls anyways.

Jack has the biggest forehand !!! Bigger than Delpo’s, Fed and Nadal’s.
the guy in white reminds me of santoro since hes useing a 2 handed forehand
How on earth can you play with a double handed forehand and expect to be taken seriously? Fabrice Santoro used to have one, and Raemon Sluiter from Holland. +getoffmypage probably way better than u so stop hating man just chill. peace
Shea McEvoy u guys are all bad at taking justified criticism
+getoffmypage Nah not bad at taking it. You have correct points with saying he's at a disadvantage for having a double handed forehand and thst he's off balance a lot. What threw me off was that you said things like 'how can he be taken seriously' when even though he has room for improvement, he's a great tennis player who's better than 99% of the tennis population.
great serves by sock
this is sick!
@xstevo014x i meant a right handed one handed back and a righty double handed forehand
I feel the same way, but Sock has so much time to get better and after watching him play isner he can hit flat if he wants too unlike Roddick or Harrison who have a bit more trouble.
oh my god, thank you. what a nice video and good players.
I completly agree....
@ripperxd95 its called a two handed forehand.. you could say he plays with two hands on both sides.
ugh i agree on most parts of ur comment, but little extra power for 2handed forehand? iunno, i think the one handed forehand has more power ie, more core rotations
his serves r great
dimitar did get banned, but that's not him considering how in the beginning, it says Jack Sock vs. Andre Dome.
@mrdreamboy jack sock played andy roddick in the second round of the us open
Jack aim to the backhand!
I think its pretty good now but yeah I do agree that he probably could be a lot better if he didn't have a 2 handed. Do you have any recent news of him?
I want to see Jack play Gage Brymer.
surprised he doesn't have a 2h SERVE lol
The guy in white just got banned 2 years on the atp. His name is dimitar kutrovsky
5:58 is a perfect example of jacks forehand just being too much wrist. i hope he's changed it by now
@hottgame17 Andre Dome..He's Really Good...He was just coming back from hip surgery or something like that
1:26 was out Mr. Sock!
Not entirely sure, from looks alone he might be Rajeev Ram
they say the 2hand forehand is mostly 4 girls but....thats what he cn do
I've seen a guy play with a 2 handed serve, forehand and backhand.
3:04 lol
@ebay1234567 that guys left arm slows his forehand tremendously
I bet the coach told Jack to hit to this guys backhand..... ;)
4:23 Fuck that's a forehand...
I wouldn't put too much credit towards Tomic. He doesn't play to his potential. He gave Roddick one more match at the US Open then folded equally in Davis Cup afterwards.
@granulatedsugar75 Ryan Harrison is at the top of all his aged players espcially jack sock
wow why would you have a double handed forehand it makes my head hurt...
two hand fore hand bad idea.....
is this andre dome that jack sock is playing?
@aznballa32 that makes them a lefty smart one
WTF....I thought ET and this doesn't exist...wow, just wow...
@wordlyfe
i believe it is Sock, look at his service motion and racquet take back. probably got a new contract with babolat and wilson before this years us open
2 handed forehand looks so stupid. damn
7.0 they are.
@shawnspeed3 what if he was self-trained
Shawnspeed3 said 2 handed FOREHAND, not Backhand.
@aznballa32 thank you:] im actually close with andre.
YYAAARK.. at 3:03 : That is exactly what a two-handed forehand does. Let's see how he volley in critical situation with a two handed forehand.....
@shawnspeed3 It must have been a damn good trick if it got him this far.
some people are taught 2h forehand because of wrist problems.
O.o Two Handed Forehand!!!!! WTF
+Luis Alberto Rojas Martinez 2 handed sword technique.
I don't think that is Jack Sock... unless this is old footage He isn't playing with the same racquet (babolat) or the same shoes/apparel (adidas) that he had at the US open.
Yeah the reach on his double-handed forehand is shit. He needs to switch that up.
If Jack is the guy in blue please listen to my comments. I think that you could be twice the player you are now if you concentrate on improving your leg strength and footwork! @fathemi How? Jack is like the #1 junior player in the nation...
Never mind... I just watched you play Roddick. I was WRONG!
Wait, did jack switch from babolat to wilson??
I'm not sure what you mean it's the same thing as a two handed backhand on both sides. Are you trying to say that a 2 handed backhand is bad technique?
Sure a 2h has less range than a 1h but it's not uncomfortable in any way.
yeah good luck with that.
2 handed forehand = double the gayness
what is that forehand ahahah
Well done to the guy but surely that 2 handed forehand has serious limitations . Especially if he wants to progress?
everything is all serve nowadays
fun match
What 2 handed forehand??! I see him strike the forehand with 1 hand
Guy in the white uses a two handed forehand.
two-handed forehands annoy me soooo much.. but gotta respect that guy he fightin tht shit. sock seems a lil arrogant, but so are a lot of high level tennis players
LOLOL ooopps
3:13 there's a one hand backhand. lol
If only
if it's that easy everyone will be a top player

+rdberg1957 'quite able' as in top 25 already; if he can improve his backhand no reason he can't break top 10.
3:32 Animal Kick
@wordlyfe its obviously jack sock... do a little research, you obviously havent watched him much if you cant tell... he still is with babolat, im sure he was just demoing this wilson before he signed with babolat... and he signed a contract with adidas recently, before he wore nike all of his juniors
Are you serious?
Two-handed forehand?
dimitar got banned for doping
