The valves are a bit too tight, not enough clearance. Adjust your valve clearances and the backfiring will subside.

Sounds like something is rattling loose. Do you know what it is? You can hear it as you are riding away. I am planning on buying one in the spring and I am just trying to find all the bugs before I get it.
