- Joe unboxes and compres his new Ozark Trail Multiforce to the trusted Leatherman Wave. When the Wave patents expired the Walmart brand Ozark Trail attempted to recreate and renovate the classic Multitool design. Did they succeed?
I bought one of these MultiForce tools at WalMart for $42.94. It’s actually very good for the price. The only thing is that I wish it could hold bits using a magnet rather than a ball detent.
I bought the exact same tool,, only branded as B/Bury, and I love it. Only $26 on Amazon. The only difference I saw was that the B/Bury came with replacable wire cutter blades, though no replacement blades were furnished.
it's been my edc since I've got it a year ago. Really decent and dependable for it's price range. Truly a LM Wave close competitor. Good job for Ozark Trail.
I was pretty surprised by the quality of this one.
No single tool is that great, but overall its a decent package. The diamond file is garbage compared to the waves, but useable on it's own. I like the bit driver.
I ended up snapping one of the jaws doing something stupid so I didn't use it all that long, but the diamond file is my most used tool on the wave, so I can't imagine the Ozark trail would have gotten any long term pocket time anyway.
I can see this being a really affordable and totally capable multitool for a ton of people. It's a great middle ground between the normal OT/WM trash and Leatherman quality.
Hope it breaks in well. Value wise seems hard to beat. Looking forward to the saw/scissors/metal file round ups in future content. Keep up the good work!
I just bought a Walmart brand "Ozark Trail" Multiforce because of all the reviews and videos people have on CZcams.
Though I just bought mine a couple of days ago. I did not find any quality defects like you are describing on the one you bought.
About the only thing I don't really like about these Multiforce is what you are calling a metal saw. The one on mine is pretty much nonexistent, I would have to use either a small type of thread file or some other way to get it sharp enough to cut any type of metal.
But, the diamond coating on the side of mine looks like they have done a pretty good job getting it on that side. Because the other side with the actual cross-cut file on mine looks pretty much useless to me.
Great review. Had to get one of these today.
I bought mine already! Is worth it!
A pretty impressive tool for the money. In some ways (blades, scissors) it equals or exceeds the Wave. In other ways (file, bit driver, pouch) it's noticeably inferior. Still, for $40 it's hard to find fault with this tool.
Damn, those pliers are tight!
A few min of Diamond paste worked thru the pivot helped significantly. I have had very few pliers come out of the box looser than these… maybe I’m lucky?
Cool!
Looks like the plier jaws might be snagging on one of the internal tools when you go to close
Its ok i want to go get this tomorrow at wally world 😊
This is better than the wave because they put the knife on the correct way so the tool won't ever pinch your palm skin like everyone knows about with the bad wave design has
It is a shame that a guy has to pay high end dollars for a decent tool and someone enters the market with the very same thing and much more affordable than the higher end comparesence I have been looking in to a replacement for my Leatherman super tool 300 but my budget will not allow me to spend that kind of money I have seen another tool made by mossey oak that looks really good
I my self work hard for my money so if Ozark trail or mossey oak makes a good point at time of sale they got that all day if it holds up to the rest of time they got that all day to nothing at all lasts for ever as to why we have factory s to make more I am a fan of a guy who knows nothing is forever that guy is myself and cheaper is some times better were reality is a thing of life make do of what you got
Nice job on the video
Honestly a leatherman charge is only 130 and it's in s30v.
I honestly would have just returned it for the pliers being stiff. There's def some QC issues with the way some of the frames are made in these clones. I've also found if you have the flathead end exposed in the bit holder and it's in a certain position it can keep the pliers from closing all the way because the head hits it, so I always put it back Phillips bit exposed
That snagging on the close is kind of a bummer and could be a dealbreaker for som, but for the price, it could be a good stand-in to my Wave.
I have carried it as much as my Wave. In most respects it’s just as functional. Still snags a bit but I got over it lol
I’ve heard arguments that the Wave is better because of its 25 yr warranty as opposed Ozarks 5 yr.
What steel is the ozark made of? I can't find the information anywhere.
I don’t have special information. I assume it’s Chinese made stainless. 3Cr? 5Cr? 8Cr? Who knows
Did you know ozark has there own website i think walmart is putting a fake price in there stores
C00l😀😀😀
Not as cool as the wave
Ozark trail and Leatherman Are made the same but different you'll never see a leatherman in combat or war only Gerber and SOG you'll only see I'm not one who B's about things but throwing away a sheath is a very very bad idea it can hold tools and other items in my honest opinion
When my tools are stiff i use wd40
I’d rather pay 100$ I like the wave a lot better
Yep just got one for Christmas excellent tool I should've gotten that charge it's on sale for 130. It's in s30v
