  • Rita Hayworth was born on October 17, 1918 in New York City. After Co-starring with Cary Grant in the 1939 film Only Angels Have Wings, Hayworth was dubbed "The Great American Love Goddess" by LIFE Magazine. From 1944 to 1947, Hayworth was named one of the top box office draws in the world. Hayworth's signature movie Gilda became famous because of her one-glove striptease. In 1947, Hayworth starred in The Lady From Shanghai and married her director, Orson Welles. But she later caused a media frenzy by leaving Hollywood and having an aggai with Prince Aly Khan, whom she later married in 1949. At the end of her career, Hayworth's health deteriorated rapidly due to alcoholism and alzheimers. Rita Hayworth died at the age of 68 on May 14, 1987. #Biography
