I think getting a tattoo of something that JUST came out is a mistake. However, a tattoo of something thats been around for years is more justifiable
Totally agree! I plan to get a legend of Zelda inspired tattoo at some point because it's been around a long time and feels very safe.
I feel you haha. I got my first tattoo around 30 and i chose Bulbasaur. it's been my favorite pokemon since 1999 :D
@@TheMankrikscow dude bulbasaur is such a great choice! Nice!
Just because it’s been around a while doesn’t always make it safe, Bill Crosby and R-Kelly have been around a while as have a whole host of other celebs who later turned out to be pedos or sex offenders.
I agree! That's why I'm getting a Garfield tatt soon, that cats older than me lmao
I have a couple of pop culture tattoos. The squid game tattoos are beautiful, but I personally wouldn't get a tattoo of a show so soon after its release. I like to wait some time to see if I will continue to feel strongly about a film/series/book when time has passed from me finishing it. I worry that some people may be buying into the hype and might not be as passionate about the show in 6 months time. (People are free to tattoo whatever they want onto their skin, this is just my opinion)
Sameeeeee!! Like I wanna get the mad hatter tattooed cuz ever since I saw that character as I child I felt very connected to the all the best people are crazy and once I got to know more about tattoos growing up, I’ve been wanting to get one.
I have a tattoo of an old Studio Ghibli film, didn't want to do anything modern. I think it'll keep the same significance to me. To me, I think best pop culture tattoos to get are images that have already stood the test of time.
Yeah I have a ghibli tattoo as well and I am sure it will stand the test of time. But also most people don’t know what it is and just say: ohhh that’s pretty 😂
I also have a Ghibli tattoo! I've loved studio Ghibli since I was a kid and the movies were such a large part of my childhood and adulthood that I 100% think it's nothing to regret getting.if a tattoo has significance to you, that's all that matters.
I'm only 24, but I have gone through so many phases of being obsessed with a piece of media and then turning either indifferent or even starting to hate it. So for me, I wouldn't want a pop-culture tattoo because the chance of me still liking the show in even 5 years is pretty iffy. I wonder if as an adult pieces will stick with me longer, as I'm more established as an individual.
Oof. Rick and Morty tattoo comment aged like fine wine. Watching in June, 2023
considering I currently have only pop culture tattoos and am planning to get a whole sleeve dedicated to studio ghibli, it's safe to say I'm very pro pop culture tattoos, though i still make sure to only get things that are very meaningful to me 👻
That sounds so cool!!
Dope, i love Spirited Away
Life is short. Do what makes you happy. If that's a pop culture tattoo, get it! It's your skin.
The example of the rick and morty tattoo aged interestingly because of the accusations regarding the creator that came out since this video.
...came here to mention this 😬
I find it a little problematic when people get tattoos of movies/shows/etc after such a short time after airing. I don't think it can be a well thought out tattoo in such a short period of time. However, when it's a pop culture thing that holds a strong meaning to you for an extended amount of time, I think it's safe(r) to say that you probably won't regret it. Especially if it's not the literal image but more of a reference that you will find aesthetically pleasing to you even if the significance vanishes over time.
I have a Princess Mononoke tattoo of the blind boar Okoto in the style of my tattoo artist because it's one of my favorite movies and especially the blind boar holds such a powerful message for me.
If something means something to me visually or emotionally, I’ll get a tattoo of it - pop-culture or not! It’s definitely about the commemoration to me.
I love watching your videos! Keep on keeping’ on! 👻
That’s why I got my Triforce tattoo. Zelda has had so much impact on my love for video games I can’t even begin to describe it
I'm nearly 50 and continue to get tattoos and will be getting pop culture tattoos as time goes on. So I guess no one will really say what are you going to think when you're older because I'm already old; joke's on you. 👻
I love that perspective!!
50 is not old. You're middle aged
I’m 33 and only started getting tattooed this past summer, I’m glad I waited because I’m comfortable and firm in what I want tattooed and how much I enjoy the things I do. I have a few pop culture ones, ninja turtles, Pokémon and kingdom hearts. I’m super happy with them :)
I have mostly pop culture tattoos, but they are pieces of media I've loved for 10+ years and mean a lot to me. I think it depends on your personal connection to pop culture!
I got my very first tattoo just about 3 weeks ago and it's a Hannibal tattoo - the wonky clock that Will draws in season 1 around my right elbow. It may seem silly to some to get a tattoo of such a dark and angsty show but Hannibal has been a recurring hyperfixation for years now and it heavily influenced the type of stories and horror I like to consume and the kind of character dynamics I enjoy which has all influenced my own writing and art style. The show and its characters really mean a lot to me and I'm a better writer because of it.
Hannibal is God tier. That show was one of the beet ive ever seen, wish I could unsee it to experience it again.
I want the same clock!
I just think this is such an individual thing. I feel like some people are more prone to getting something done on the fly and hating it later. But it isn’t anyone’s place to judge someone for what piece of art they want on their body. For me personally, I just love beautiful imagery, and if I had a tattoo of a amazing piece of artistry like many of the tattoos shown, even if the culture itself lost reference to me, I wouldn’t regret displaying such a unique work of art. In many ways, collecting tattoos over the years is like a time capsule. Times are allowed to change, but the memory will still be there.
damn that rick and morty example was spot on 11:32
Completely agree with the idea of making it unique, you’ll like your tattoo that much more if it feels unique. My first 2 tattoos before I began my Japanese suit are both comic tattoos, but I wanted them to feel personal and different.
Spider-Man is my guy so Miles Morales with a hoodie and the shoes with a big Venom was my first tattoo.
Every Captain America vs Iron Man tattoo goes off of the same 2 civil war images so I went with Sam Wilson’s Cap vs War Machine fighting in the sky with WM’s cannons/missiles, and Redwing flying ahead. As a black guy I wanted to have a black superhero sleeve. I’m likely going to put Black Panther’s head/face on that hand to kinda match the Foo-dog head on the other hand.
I had to try applying that logic to my Japanese tattoos too. “How can I be respectful to the traditions but make it unique to myself”? It’s difficult to paint a unique picture for a style that’s so old.
For me popculture tattoos can be fun but i wouldn't want anything closely related to any kind of living person.
So many people are called out for stuff Like racism and other negative and bad behavior nowadays that my fear would be that i'll have something closely connected to a racist or something.
I have a popculture tattoo myself (character from a book) and i plan on getting two more till the end of the year. But none of it is like. Portrait of an actor in His/her role.
I get your point, but even the autor of a book can be cancel someday for being racist or something. I think is mostly the same as if the actor of a character that you like gets cancel
@@vermillionc0re in the case of my tattoos that's Not really likely. Hardly anything is known about the author. He is a very private person, there's Not even photos Out there showing him.
My tattoos show Illustrations from the books, non human characters. So no visible connection to any living person.
I didn't start getting tattoos until I was over 30 and I'm personally glad because I've changed so much. I would probably have a bunch of wiccan and Dr who tattoos if I got tattoos 10 years ago and those are two things I'm not at all into anymore 😅 I feel I'm more cemented in my personality now.
i think it’s ridiculous to say that it’s pathetic for people to get tattoos of pop culture stuff. people always want your tattoos to have meaning for some reason, and if people love a tv show or a movie and want to get it tattooed, why the hell is that a problem? people are just looking for stuff to be mad at....
i’m planning on getting a tattoo based on the movie heathers bc it’s been my favorite since i was 14.... let me live 😭
Love the episode. I have a few pop culture tattoos. (Ramona Flowers, Boo from Mario and a Bi-Bomb from Mario as well.) I get asked all the time if I would regret it. I never think I will because I hold all these close to my heart. They all have a meaning to me that goes beyond where the characters come from. But one thing I would probably never get are characters of movies just because maybe years ago I wanted a tattoo of a Kevin Spacey character. Which wouldn't age very well for obvious reasons. Other than that, everything else is fair game 👻
Those earrings are amazing! Love the video as always
Thank you!! They're from While Oden Sleeps
I have a full arm that's movies/TV tattoos and I love it. I don't think I personally would get something from a piece of media that just came out, I would need to wait like minimum 5 years. I also don't have any characters faces, more like symbols from the media.
All of my current tattoos and most of my future tattoos are from pop culture. All from videogames, anime, and TV shows. But each of them are of a scene, symbol, or character that also represents a part of me and why I relate to the images so much. So I put just as much thought into them as somebody who would get something that represents a similar ideal to them, just not with a pop culture reference. And at the end of the day, I would much rather have images from a videogame that gave me a lot of happiness in my childhood, than a clock, or a lion on my entire arm.
People seem to have a hard time leaving others alone lol
I do have pop culture tattoos, I don't wanna have kids and even if I wanted........ it's my life???? Being tattooed is part of who I am, none of the concerns of other people make sense to me. For me, it goes beyond the actual meaning or character, but the artist, the quality of the art, the style and the colors. I literally got a squishmallow tattooed two weeks ago just because. I want to be free to decorate my body as I see fit. I am a grown woman.
People should really mind their own business and stop judging others as if they had PhD in maturity. We're all dying in the end.
I personally wouldn't get pop culture tattoos, but I don't think they're bad at all. It really works when they're uniquely done and can be fun. Squid Game tattoos I think are perfect example of this. Just the shapes in a tattoo can be done in any number of ways, by themselves or in a bigger tattoo, etc. It's a phenomenon in pop culture history (and coming out in popularity during the pandemic) so it's a great snapshot in history.
🤔 This is a difficult one for me. I’m still getting tattooed in my Fifties , but I do regret my Tazmainian Devil from the 90’s!!! 👻
I love seeing older Looney Tunes tattoos! All of my aunts got them in the 90’s, small ones. I’m in my 30’s now and still see a Marvin the Martian tattoo in my future.
Poor Taz 🥲
The only tattoos I regret are the ones I got without really thinking about the tattoo itself or the artist. Some of those are pop culture tattoos and some are not. I'd say the tattoos I'm most proud of and that I think are the most beautiful on me art all pop culture tattoos. I have an art nouveau-style Aerith from Final Fantasy VII spanning the length of the outside of my forearm. On the inside of the entire length of the same arm, I have a big Welcome to Night Vale piece. These are far and away my best, both niche pop culture things. 👻
Yess definitely I think that’s a good point you made about not fully thinking through the tattoo or artist
I dont have any pop culture tattoos because everything I think about getting one, I find something I don't like about the product it references. I don't listen to the same music I used to and I don't watch the same shows or movies anymore. I like to get images that are timeless like non-objective art. Also what if you got a Bill Cosby tattoo because he was your favorite comedian? Do you still feel good about the tattoo of your favorite comedian after he's been charged with sex crimes? What if squid game is never talked about again after 2022? Culture is just as transient as anything else. Fads and trends come and go, and in a few years you'll all have a new favorite Netflix show.
Love your While Odin Sleeps earrings! I have a few pairs from her :) I remember in college when Twitter became an official citation source for papers, it's wild
I like pop culture tattoos and I've seen some amazing pieces. I wouldn't recommend getting something just because it's trending in pop culture. But if it's something that you really love, like your favorite show, movie, comic, game, etc. or a favorite from your childhood, then I say go for it. I'm in love with Kozo Tattoos' work, the style, the inspo, the details, the colors & technique, it's absolutely stunning!
I have a disney castle and a ghibli tattoo and will get a pokemon tattoo next week.
These things have been very important for me and my carreer as an animator but also just fun cute things.
That intro was the cutest thing
Just got my first tattoo about a month ago and have been obsessed with your channel ever since! My piece is a small outline of my dogs ears and I wouldn’t have it any other way! Would love a vid on pet tattoos if that would be something you’d be interested in filming!
12:46 every tattoo i have is gonna look trash when I'm 45. at that point none of itmatters. Just get what u like. And if u end up hating the show u now have a fun story to tell people at parties.
I think pop culture tattoos are amazing! I’m currently working on a video game themed patchwork sleeve. I want to be fully tattooed neck to ankle one day and I do envision a large portion of my body being pop culture. It takes a certain kind of person like any other aesthetic does. I’m sure there are lots of people like me who are forever children at heart and their childhood shows/games strongly shape who they are today and you continue to rewatch them and replay them and they never lose their charm. Those are the things you should get tattooed on you if you want to go that route. Hopping on a band wagon for a brand new show that everyone loves and getting a tattoo of it right away I can see having a higher probability of being a regretful tattoo in the future. But for my pop culture tattoos I like to choose certain things related to the show/video game that aren’t super obvious unless you actually know the show or game. While big tattoos of main characters can be awesome and epic, that’s not something I see myself getting personally. But if something resonates with you, get it tattooed! Who cares lol
Adorable intro 🤣👻
That intro was so cute lol
Great content. Respect! 👻
i agree!! i also feel like the relevance of wtv the person is getting tattooed on them doesn’t rly matter, bc the person is getting the tattoo bc they like that particular form of media, not bc the media itself is popular (at least i hope so lol). so the popularity lifespan of the show or movie doesn’t rly matter bc ur allowed to like stuff even after it’s outdated! the tattoo should be a representation of the person’s fondness and appreciation for the media, not a reflection of its popularity
i have a pretty simple undertale tattoo. I got it when I turned 18 and it was something i started thinking about when I was 15-16 and I drew it on myself multiple times. The game was a big comfort to me and still is, and it was a huge factor for getting me into game dev and storytelling. It is nerdy but I love how it looks and it was a pretty safe choice considering the fact that I've loved the game for 7 years.
So honestly I don't want to be that person who thinks all tattoos need to have meaning but I do think that getting a tattoo of something you like only months after starting to like it is risky, but pop culture tattoos as a whole don't seem like a bad idea to me ( I might be biased though 👀)
I like pop culture tattoos but I wouldn't get one from something that's only just come out. I also wouldn't get something directly linked to an actual person in case they turn out to be a terrible person.
I think to add onto evolution of characters potentially changing the meaning you’re also attaching yourselves, for life, with the choices of the creator of the media. Like all the people (me included) who have deathly hallows or dark marks and are now tied with JKR’s transphobia. It’s just something I’m sure none of us ever would have imagined when we got them, so something to think about if you care about that kinda thing.
thank you for this video! I'm getting my first tattoo soon and I've been thinking about it being a homage to one of my favorite videogames (Dead Space), but I've also thought a lot about the regret thing. Thankfully (or not) i don't have the funds to get inked right now, so at least I have some time to think it through 👻
👻 love your videos 💛💛💛
Love pop culture tattoos and these videos wowwww 🤩
😊
I only get tattoos about media if I've liked it for over a year. Some things stick with you forever, so I don't think you should always rule out pop culture tattoos. But I also would take some time to consider how you'll feel about it later on in life
I have a slurm can from futurama and a toad from mario tattooed on me. I plan to get a spyro tattoo soon, but i cant imagine getting a tattoo for a passing fad. The tattoos of characters/ references ive got are fron shows/ games ive loved for 10+ years. I feel like most people dont even remember the series now.
About what you said regarding if you'll be effected by these tattoos negatively, or if ppl will view you in a negative light for them - I think about that a lot as well. It's why I still don't have any highly visible pieces, and I'm on tattoo #6 so far! I realize that public opinions on tattoos are shifting in the US, but personally I don't think it has shifted enough.
I have a sleeve I'm almost finished doing of nightmare before christmas. I always loved the show but I'm doing this as a memorial tattoo for my best friend of 28 years who passed away last year. It was her favorite and she had a NBC christmas tree up in her house 365 days a year. I get compliments on it everywhere I go and couldn't be happier having it. I plan on doing alot more work and alot of UT is pop cultural stuff I love like Tim Burton movies, marvel. And harry potter.
imagine not getting a tattoo because you're worried about how it will look when you're older when you could die at any moment. the future is not guaranteed, so you have to find the balance between preparing for the future and living in and for the moment.
I have a Tattoo of Michael Myers and curse of Thorn Tattoo from Halloween 4,5 and 6, i'll be getting a whole Halloween sleeve, Halloween has been a big part of my childhood, ive watched em with family and friends and have memorys around the franchise, i get Tattoo's for me and it wouldn't bother me if not a single person liked em
People that got Squid Games tattoos right now are hype beasts. They don't think enough about their tattoo ideas.
I don't mind at all getting a tattoo of something I might not still be into in a few years. It's still a chapter in my life and a reminder of who I was then. In fact maybe including a date with our pop culture tattoos could be wise.
If your tattoo is done well then it will always be cool. I love pop culture tattoos and so many I have planned are pop culture but I am a film and animation nerd.
11:46 whos gonna tell her about Rick
👻 I’m an Aussie viewing this from Australia 🇦🇺 here to let you know that you have an international following
🎨 Excellent
most of the tattoos i have planned are related to music/movies that have really resonated w me, however i like making them subtle so if someone else sees it they wouldn't know or if i ever change my opinion i wouldnt regret it. for example i have a flower for a song + i'm getting a moon from the movie labyrinth!
I plan on getting a tattoo of my childhood favorite movie, the last unicorn. On each of my biceps i want a tarot card, on the left it will be "the chariot" and have a picture of the unicorn from the movie. On the right it will be "the devil" and have a picture of the red bull. I pretty sure i want it in color and in art nouveau, but MAYBE neotrad. Probably art nouveau.
i had 2 parties so i got to go as a roman empress and as princess peach (couples costume with a yoshi) 👻 i have a moomin tat now, so i guess that counts as "old pop culture"? since Tove Jansson's first moomin release was in the 1940s
I love moomin grew up with it.. now my kid has their own moonin mug
You really predicted the Rick and Morty tattoo didn't you 🤣
7:52 the picture on the wall 🙈🙈
All art is culture and conversation we have with each other as much as with ourselves. I do believe it can be frivolous or we can grow and change feelings and interpretations around conversations, but that we should know what we want to say before we say it when it’s going to be the final word. Some concepts change with us as well, which I think is one of the reasons Ghibli images are so popular. They are made to be interpreted over and over through seasons and changes in life so if someone identified with even part of it, the meaning isn’t lost. Sometimes popular culture can actually say things more meaningfully and deeply or at least differently than what preceded. Whatever we find meaning or comfort or mutually agree to express together or put value behind probably is valuable. I do think it’s a nice luxury to say we don’t like a particular message or that we want to reinterpret it or that certain forms of communication and messages maintain timeless value, but one piece of work I want to get eventually has a pop culture origin. The message in it is even possible to be expanded and to become way more broad and beautiful than it’s origin even if that too may be beautiful and it’s also subject to change as I change and I think if we know the work grows and goes with us we know we wont regret it. If you ask people the story and the message and you find value in it, then it’s worth being there. One thing this art form and many others do is to make the deepest messages most concise even when there may be no other way to express them.
Hi! Just writing to tell you I loved your comment, very well expressed and thought out
@@caterinatomaspujol4031 It can be really hard to feel appreciated in this world, so it really matters that you take the time. Iy makes a difference. I hope you have a wonderful day.
I didn't understand the poll when I answered. I thought you were asking would the color/lines would last.
i have studio ghibli movies sleeve and would love to get old video games on other hand.
Both of my tattoos are popculture tattoos, I tried to get them so they stood as tattoos on their own ground, and people who recognize them it's like an extra "oh cool!"
I have a half sleeve or books and videogames, and I'm planning my other half sleeve to be anime/animation.
The thing with getting pop culture tattoos is that you gotta make sure you'll still stand behind these choices in the future. Any element that makes it onto my list of elements for my sleeves are all from things I've loved for years and have had an impact of my life. So even if I wont necessarily re-read those books in 30years, I can think remember what they meant to me when I got them done.
I think there's also a huge difference between getting a tattoo inspired by a cartoon, movie or book, and getting a tattoo of a meme that's going to be dead in 2 week to get your 15min of fame on social media lol.
The tattoos people got of the infamous internet DRESS debacle are already so obscure by now haha
I like pop culture tattoos, but I would never get a tattoo of an unfinished show. How I Met Your Mother and Game of Thrones were extremely beloved series that destroyed any goodwill they had in the finale episodes. I would regret it if I had gotten a GOT tattoo before season 8 aired 😳
0:12 you're so cute!!😭♥️
"did I scare you?" awww
I have a tattoo for The Office so I’m biased here and yes, you scared me
mid 50s & have a pop culture tattoo ... of a cartoony version the honey badger :)
I'm not into pop culture tattoos but I think it is ultimately like any style out there some like it some like other styles, niches and genres.. I can admire the artwork though 👻
I am not going to do that, not yet anyway. But I think anything is a great idea if one wants it on their body.
👻 I work as a male nurse and have a colleague nurse in psychiatry who has the whole cast of "Stranger Things" on her body. Some patients ask her if she is the "crazy one"? 😅 But the artwork is very well done and I think she won't regret it later in her life.
I have tattoos of Snoopy and Reksio (Polish cartoon) and I love them. I don't care what anyone thinks.
i feel like she knew someone we didn’t
I have comic book characters tattoed all over but I'd never get an actor's face of a character they played. You never know what that person will end up doing in real life.
Like many pointed out, I agree that it's really safer tattooed something that had been in pop culture for many years, but people hate in general pop culture tattoos as much as the hate that this huge shows naturally have, but fans will always support and huge shows always will have haters.
Squid Game was awesome, but a newer season (and a reality show!!) will come out, and for a show with a pretty straight forward story with such impact in recent pop culture, is more probable that a new season will be bad than great as the first season, so the tattoo could represent something that turn out to be disappointing. Rick and Morty its a curious case as well, a show that turn really popular in recent years and started to feel tired for some.
At the same time, tattoos is extremely personal, I think is kind a pointless discussion because when how the world feels about a show will dictate what someboy does with your own body (or even real people tattoos, lets have that conversation)? What feels crazy for me maybe is meaningful for others.
5:15 hisoka is that you!?!?!? (istg he shows up in everything i watch 😭😭)
The majority of my tattoos are somehow pop culture related lmao. I get tattoos of my favorite things like my favorite video games I've grown up with as a teen or young adult. My only regrets I've ever had haven't been the actual tattoos, but things about them like the style or placement. I only have 2 tattoos I want to remove and, funnily enough, they're not pop culture. They're just in the way of wanting to do a chest piece. 😛
I definitely like to make sure I think about these tattoos for quite a while before getting them and they're of games or series, etc that I've loved for years and years. I doubt I'd do it if it was a new interest
I mostly have Pop culture tattoos actually. Several Junji Ito images, some Yotsuba images and 2 band logos that are or were important to me at a certain time of life.
And my next one will be popculture as well. I'm gonna get a Bill & Ted tattoo in September ("Be Excellent To Each Other" wristband)
Big movie/music/comics guy here so I like it.
The question of how would they look when you are old has been posed to me a few times. 1. I'm 45 now and I still love then and 2. my coworker gave a good answer for this:"When you're middle aged and have lived a good life would you honestly care?"
I was Waldo from Where’s Waldo for Halloween!
I have a small tattoo of Smitty Werbenjagermanjensen from SpongeBob. It’s a silly one but I love it.
Why should I want a tattoo based on a show which features a doll which shoots people if they refuse to follow instructions? Thanks for your wonderful video! Kind regards from Ásgeir in Iceland.
I do feel that people that get pop culture related tattoos, especially for something as fresh as squid games, tend to be the kind of people who don’t really care about the meaning of these tattoos and don’t think about them too much, which is perfectly fine, but overall, it’s safe to assume that people who don’t think what they’re getting are much more prone to regret them.
Also 👻
I have a Studio Ghibli tattoo and I think that the meaning it has to me won't change in the future. I think it's the only tattoo with a real meaning that I have. 😅
👻
I'm getting my very first tattoo in a month and it's a naruto tattoo lmao naruto has been with me since i was a little kid and i still feel very connected to it today so i guess it was an easy choice for a tattoo... but idk i don't see myself getting any other pop culture stuff...
Since I’m a huge fan on Superman I’ve been thinking of getting the S or s comic panel tattooed, but really can’t bring myself to do so. So I’d say pop culture tats are not for me. I still have one though. I got it through a blind tattoo draw at a convention. I don’t regret getting it through a blind draw, but it’s one of those fantastic beasts form the Harry Potter Franchise and well, if I’d ever come across a good idea for a blast over I’d go for it. I don’t want ppl to think I’m fan of Rowling.
And about the “consider how it’ll look when you’re old” part. It’s the most stupid thing to say! What do those ppl mean ‘when I’m old’? Like when I’m 70 and start my bikini model career? Sure. Who wants to look at old skin to begin with? Tattooed old skin will even look better than just wrinkly nakedness. XP
i would be to get a tattoo of something 1. from a completed work and 2. something after the initial love wears off a bit but thats just me
I have alot of pop culture tattoos lol...also my dog and I were matching skeletons
My fear with pop culture tattoos is you have no idea what could happen to that piece of media. Like there are probably Archer fans that have the word ISIS tattooed on them. There are probably people who have Bill Cosby tattoos. You just never know.
the only 'pop culture' or media tattoo i think ill ever get is pokemon. ive been obsessed with it my entire life so its more just about what pokemon i would get...? because my favourites are the only thing that ever changes.
but im in the boat of, i think pop culture tattoos are cool but sometimes i think they make a lot more sense as just being illustrations than tattoos.
Hey , was wondering how your nose piercing is holding up
I really want to get a tattoo from my favorite movie series ( Ace Ventura ) lol I absolutely love animals and Jim carrey
I really want a video game sleeve on my leg but I'm afraid that one day after I stop playing the games that I'll have stupid crap on my leg for life. I'm so conflicted.
i can understand where people are coming from when they are against pop culture tattoos, but also tattoos (even or maybe especially pop culture tats) can have a lot of meaning to the people who get them that isn't apparent to someone else looking at it. Generally i feel like judging someone based on their tattoos is just bad faith. 3 out of my 7 tattoos are pop culture related and the things they're from have meant a lot to me growing up and the tattoos hold a lot of complicated meaning for me now. I got the dark mark from harry potter as my first tattoo when i was 19 (I'm 24 now) and my feelings toward it have changed a lot over the years, especially with JK rowling being a mega terf. honestly i do regret it sometimes because it was a really impulsive decision and could definitely imply a lot of shitty things about me. but ultimately it still has a lot of meaning to me and i don't know that i would get it covered up any time soon. possibly one day but i care more about getting new tattoos than i do removing one i have complex feelings towards right now
i did not mean to leave a huge wall of text lmfao but there it is 👻
